Congrats to Billy Hicks for coach of the year in the 11th. A vote of the 11th region coaches determined this award.

 

What are anyone's thoughts about which coach was most deserving of this award?

Thats a bit of a surprise. Although Coach Hicks did a great job. IMO he is the best in the state at what he does.

I thought Chalk, Salsman, and Ligon all did a very good job with their teams this year as well.

Hicks or Salsman. Either one would have been a solid choice.

 

Definite lack of class by those that participated in the noticeable smattering of boos when he was announced as the regional coach of the year. You may not like him, but that was not the time to display it.

I guess some folks don't like the success he has had. He's a great coach, his record speaks for itself.

I'm sure the boos were amplified by the recent news of Euton. Hicks can always be deserving of this award, but I would have liked to have seen Ligon get it after BS tried to get rid of him this past summer. Would have been a nice little in your face to the administration. For what its worth, a lot of people may not like Hicks, but this says a lot about him when his peers vote for him to win the thing.

Ligon would have been my choice.

What about the Dunbar Coach, Redd Hutchinson? He has done a very nice job as well this season.

I agree, and would throw the Dunbar coach in the mix. I thought he did a very good job getting Dunbar to the regional semis.
