I'm a Belfry fan but I think Pikeville wins this game. I just feel everyone is wayyyy to confident that Belfry is going to win

This is no knock on Jon and honestly Jon put up good numbers but if you think he is the best passing QB Belfry has had then you need to speak to some older Belfry fans...... Harold Borders comes to my mind.

You could move one but you only have 17 teams in the 14th same as the 15th. Who would you move? LCC?

Problem with the 15th is your going to have a 3 team district no matter what 57th Johnson Central Sheldon Clark Lawrence County Paintsville Magoffin County 58th Allen Central South Floyd Betsy Layne Prestonsburg 59th East Ridge Pikeville Shelby Valley David School 60th Phelps Pike Central Belfry Piarist You could move on of the 57th teams but you would still basically have a 3 team district somewhere.

Boyd is no match for Ashland, getting beat as bad as they did by PC..................

There are a few schools around the state that choose not to play in the tourney, does this skew the number of schools?

Not a violation if they are just switched. Basketball in Fall, Volleyball in Spring.

Actually, they are about the 5th largest as SV, ER, PC, and JC are all currently bigger than Belfry. You are also fighting football, and believe me the more JC starts winning in football the less successful they will be in basketball. The most successful schools in basketball don't have to fight football, Paintsville and Shelby Valley would be my examples. I am no way saying that BHS staff doesn't support basketball but the students are drawn more toward football.

They have been more than a solid program since Coach Casey took over. Lost to Shelby Valley in the regionals the past 3 years , once in the finals, 2 times on the semi's.

The numbers I have seen - Belfry's - they are pretty much a wash BUT it allows multiple use for the facility, like host 2 soccer games at the same time, pee-wee football, etc. and not having to worry one bit about a brown spot, mud hole, or overuse.

Correct, the field at Belfry had to be dome 2 times, because the contractor did not put down the correct base layer and amount of pea gravel the first time. Oh and it would shock some of the Belfry people whose idea and was one of the driving forces in getting the turf, as he is viewed as a football hater in some circles

Belfry's was over $600,000 and was funded by Cam Mining, Massey Energy, and private donations. Shelby Valley's was funded by private donations and Johnson Industries. Pike BOE payed little, if any for each.

I agree. The problem with sports in general is principles and school are worried about spending and making money, period. Coming from a football crazy school like Belfry you will see some crazy stuff. We have a GREAT coach in Phillip Haywood and he got a lot out of not so much in my mind for the longest time. The feeder schools here had 1 good coach, Keith May, for a loooong and you would get a good coach every now and then sprinkled in. The problem is AD's in schools. The AD should be paid a salary to do what the title says, Direct Athletics. I'm not talking about $3,000 or whatever they make. I'm talking on par with a teacher. It shouldn't be a basketball coach or football coach. Look at the schools that have problems in one sport or another. I bet the sport the school is strongest in is what background the AD has. Belfry - Coach Haywood is AD - football school, Bell Co. - Dudley Hilton is AD - football school I'm sure there are others. I am not saying that they show favoritism or blasting these guys, but how much time can they truly devote to other sports if they are coaches and athletic director? Ad's should run a schools feeder league's/ schools athletics so that everyone is on the same page for the good of the school/programs. They should also be in charge of all fund raising for these programs, that way when you get a good coach in a particular sport, he/she is not stretched too thin doing the other things beside coaching and promoting their programs.

You hit the nail on the head.Some of the programs I have been around the football boosters run their peewee and midget league football teams for MONEY ONLY, not because of fundamentals. They collect the gate fee and participation fee and then they are done with it. It would shock you of the name of one of the schools.......

Its apples and oranges to compare Kentucky and Ohio. Ohio has 11,464,042 people in the state and Kentucky has 4,173,405 people, that is almost 3 times the amount. Add to the fact that there are what, 30 or more schools that are the same size or bigger than T and X in cities and suburbs. They also have 3 classes not 6 like us. The whining of pro-football people is killing me on this site, the problem lies with the system now, not anything with basketball.

No actually it is worse.........one person over there does all the hiring and firing, and its not the principle......... But if Coach B gets the job I can't say it would be a bad hire.
