What does Belfry need to do to improve in 2007/2008? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Heard they lost one of the best players in the region and should be down, plus will they go deep in football playoffs?

IMO,this is probably one of the most underchieving basketball programs in the entire state! Maybe they are primarily a football school now but in years past they were always solid in basketball so I do not know what they would need to do!

If May doesn't play basketball then there inside game will be limited. In for a .500 season at best.

They have been more than a solid program since Coach Casey took over. Lost to Shelby Valley in the regionals the past 3 years , once in the finals, 2 times on the semi's.

Sort of exactly my point ! For a school this size,which is one of the 2 largest schools in the region they should have been to the big dance more than the 3 times they have.

Actually, they are about the 5th largest as SV, ER, PC, and JC are all currently bigger than Belfry.

 

You are also fighting football, and believe me the more JC starts winning in football the less successful they will be in basketball.

 

The most successful schools in basketball don't have to fight football, Paintsville and Shelby Valley would be my examples.

 

 

I am no way saying that BHS staff doesn't support basketball but the students are drawn more toward football.

What about the 60 or so years prior to SV,ER,PCC it was just them & JCC as the 2 largest schools. Why did Belfry never achieve at the state level in the 50's - 90's? is what i am saying. It looks to be continuing.
