  1. CovCath, by a big bunch. I'll take 42-7. Somewhere in that range.
  2. Thanks for the tip, I'm kind of new at this and I'll keep it in mind in the future. But, this week I'll still take Highlands by a touchdown.
  3. Smith has seen most of the better high school players in the country during the past 25 years or so, so I'll trust that statement. I agree as well, anyone who thinks Mayo is going to come into the NBA two years from now and make the kind of impact Anthony, James, Bryant, etc. did is crazy. As for Smith rejecting Mayo, I applaud that. It's about time somebody told the kid "no" and actually meant it. Too bad it didn't happen sooner, this thread wouldn't have to exsist. Mayo is extremely good, but he's not worth the circus that comes with him.
  4. Do you mean this year? I'm not sure what you're looking for, past year, this year, long-term success from former teams, long term success by current teams.
  5. I don't know who the Schwab is, but I don't claim to be him either. I'd like to give you a projected starting five, but can't at this point, too many questions. Who ends up playing, who doesn't, etc. I'd say Simpson, McGraw, and Wise are locks to start. After that, lots of questions.
  6. Give me a minute to do the math. X only beat Bowling Green by eight, and BG had some guys hurt. Highlands is better than BG. I think I'll take the Birds by a touchdown.
  7. Not that it matters, but for purposes of clarification: Lloyd is AA Seneca is AAAA Holy Cross is A.
  8. Have to agree, unless the area's defination of good has become watered down in the last five or so years. Jefferson, Holmes-great athlete, as a quarterback he'd make a really good wide receiver. Hesch, Newport-had some great receivers around him until this year. Didn't account for a touchdown against NewCath or Dayton. Boone and Highlands have very good athletes who are both underclassmen playing QB, both should get better. Lloyd is in the same boat, though the kid at Lloyd may be less athletic than the other two, and more of drop back passer type. Bricking at Dixie is still inconsistent. Bleser at CovCath has great toys to play with, but he needs to get them the ball. The guys I've liked so far though include Elliott at Beechwood. I think he'll be the best quarterback in NKY next year. I think Elbert from Simon Kenton owns that distinction this season.
  9. I can't see this starting five, but that's why they practice. Stewart is a senior, Lother is a freshman, and unless they have a transfer, there is no Dierig on the team. Maybe you mean Wes Cruse.
  10. I don't think Dixie's crowd, or lack thereof, is either a shame or sad. If you're a student or alumni, it's in middle of the day on a Saturday, that is also Labor Day weekend. It's also the first full day of college football season, which is relevent since only football fans will go to this game anyway. Many non-playing students at Dixie work part-time jobs, that often includes working at some point on Saturday. And, finally, Dixie had it handed to them the first two weeks of the season, and this game looked to be at least as bad, if not worse than those weeks. So why pay the $5, to watch a probable blowout, even if none of the other factors prevented you from going. If alumni and students were required to pay to support mediocre football, UC would have a waiting list for tickets.
  11. I'm not sure why anyone thinks Ryle deserves to be No. 3. What Beechwood did to Dixie was more impressive than what the Raiders Friday. The Glen Este team that totally handled them in week 1, was only ranked ninth last week in Cincy's coaches poll. IMO, Beechwood has been as impressive as any team in Northern Ky., in doing what they need to be doing right now. Not that they'd beat CovCath or Highlands, they'd have little chance against one and almost no shot at the other, but they've played tremendous football out of the gate. Based on what they've done and how they've played, they're a solid three in my book right now. In fact, many of us may be kind in giving Ryle the four spot over Simon Kenton, based on how teams have done thus far.
  12. 1. Highlands. 2. CovCath. 3. Beechwood. 4. Ryle. 5. Simon Kenton. 6. Boone County. 7. NewCath. 8. Dixie. 9. Campbell County. 10. Holy Cross.
  13. Local 'lore has it that some years ago another AAAA team designed their championship rings before a championship game as well. It didn't work out very well for them either.
  14. Come on then man, at least spell his name right. Noel doing a fine job with the Tigers. :ylsuper:
  15. Thanks for the response. I haven't seen the SI preview you are talking about. But, eventually, I think this could cause some problems. I stand by my comment that they've gotten a lot of money for the program because of TV. That won't last very long. I've seen some very good high school coaches in Ky., that bascially donate their time.
  16. Again, I'm not disagreeing about the fieldhouse, and thanks for the help BigZig.
  17. I don't mean to crash the CCH discussion of starters, but one name I've not seen mentioned is the Lampl kid. He's big and athletic. Can he play?
  18. Whatever. Didn't you quit this site last year, I could have sworn I saw that someplace.
  19. Great post.:thumb: Most will never get it, but really good post.
  20. What makes you think the booster's raise that amount of money annually? Doesn't seem plausible to me. If Hoover has that kind of budget, which they may very well have, it came from the MTV series and playing on one of the ESPN networks. And if MTV and ESPN are showing your coaches on TV, Nike will probably give them plenty of gear. It's all television driven in my opinion.
  21.  If he did move, I'd say it's a good thing for Cincinnati, and a bad thing for wherever he ends up.
  22. I gotta agree. It's kind of like that Elliott kid moving into Pendleton County to play with his AAU buddies, and then being proud of a regional championship.
  23. I'm not disagreeing with your post, but what do you mean the fieldhouse prints magazines? What newspapers or media are in the 10th region?
  24. Very good question.:thumb: I'll guess that it has happened, but off the top of my head I can't name who it may have been. I'll get back to you.
