  1. Isn't this a thread about Kentucky prep basketball players that went straight to the pros?
  2. Good for him. He seems like a really quality kid and good athlete.
  3. I thought it was pretty down last year as well. South Laurel, no doubt, was a very good team. Several other really nice teams, but not the depth you see most years in the Sweet 16.
  4. I like Tierney as well, but we may as well leave him off these lists. He's not invited to the tryouts, and it's tough to make the team if you can't try out. I'm not sure if Mains was invited, Vories will get his chance.
  5. May be true, but the overall talent level (including the number of good teams) in this year's tournament was way down. Seems to me started slipping last year, but got worse this year.
  6. I'm surprised they aren't already up there. Hard for me to believe there are 25 better teams in the state than the Tigers, but what do I know?
  7. I'm not questioning the decision to leave him off, necessarily. Vories and Lawson certainly deserve credit. But, Penick is big, and he put up impressive numbers. I know those numbers are skewed by the D-III schedule, but he is a D-I signee. Could it be Ludlow dropped the ball in promoting the kid? Also, a bit surprised Romes didn't get the nod. Work ethic can't be questioned with this kid and he put up HUGE numbers. Another case of the D-III schedule coming into play?
  8. CovCath players were eligible, and I would have thought Tierney might have gotten a look. Only SENIORS are eligible. Each region gets at least one kid in the tryout as the KABC, votes for the best senior in each region. The other 16 kids are chosen at-large for the tryout. Penick wasn't chosen?
  9. You may be right, and I respect you post. HHS in 04 was a different animal. You just don't see that much talent in AAA football too often.
  10. McNick has always been decent. Some years that's okay in the GCL, some years it gets you killed. I've never had a problem with coach R, but let's understand he came from the GCL. Nobody plays in that league without athletes.
  11. I didn't have a clue it had fallen off this much. BTW what the heck is a juggernaut?
  12. Come on leave my name out of this. No sandbagging going on at CovCath.
  13. Calling me a liar, is probably some sort of rules violation, so lets just assume I was told this.:thumb: That being said it wasn't from Trinity or St. X. Or any other Lousiville school.
  14. Easy. It's not absurd at all, it's the truth. Football coaches with state rings were the ones who said this. I'd be happy to tell the Russell or Belfry coaching staff that winning a region in many areas of the state is more difficult than winning AA in football. It just is. How many really good teams do you have to beat to win the AA title? One, maybe two, at most. CovCath went, Holy Cross, Holmes, Ryle, Highlands, NewCath win the ninth this year. A bit tougher than what Russell or Belfry had to face.
  15. If these stats are accurate, I have to ask how can a team turn the ball over 25 times in the state tournament and win? I know CovCath shot poorly and was outrebounded. But if you force 25 turnovers in 32 minutes, what causes a loss?
  16. So right, so right. I've had a few football coaches tell me that winning state in football is easier than winning a region in basketball.
  17. Anyone who wrote a letter about bad behavior from you guys needs to get out more. You guys are the best student section I've ever seen, and as I like to say, I've seen a lot. I didn't see the game today though, can someone fill me in on the boxing cheer. :thumb:
  18. It's been almost ten seasons since the Colonels have played in a state title game. I'd say it's time for them to start putting up some wins in November. Really haven't made a playoff run of any sort since 01. CCH won five state titles from 87 to 97, and I guess the wheels came off. Still a good program, but are they elite anymore?
  19. Actually, they bring only bells and whistles to my post:D . My facts are still my facts.
  20. Of me being right, I guess. :ylsuper: SK finished as eighth region runner-up, so by eighth region standards, they weren't very good? SK also brought more people to the site than any school except Shelby County. Does the eighth region have a problem with facts, and the truth?
  21. Aww, but see the above posts, looks like we may be. :thumb:
  22.     You quoted yourself, then said, "It is people like you,". Classic. Just getting used to these new-fangled computers are ya? Thanks for proving my point in a single post. :ylsuper:
  23. Just having a little fun.:thumb: A buddy of mine won it once, but not with just one entry :sssh: . It's a tough contest. I've never entered because it sneaks up on me every year (the contest deadline that is).
