  1. What makes you think you're worthy of bashing everyone else's top 10, without making one of your own?
  2. Everyone who practices improves by default. That doesn't mean they are suddenly becoming good. Highlands and Beechwood would beat Dixie in weeks nine and 10 by as much or more.
  3. From what I've seen over the years, occasionally like tonight it's several personal foul type things, but most of the time it's not. It's more things like jumping off sides, false starts, etc. that keep them playing on their heels all night.
  4. Ryle really pushed the Pioneers around last year and they have two huge backs returning, provided Murray is or gets healthy. But, Simon does have a ton of weapons on offense. Key to this game is how good is Ryle on the defensive side of the ball, and how far does SK come in the next few weeks heading into that game.
  5. I didn't know it was my job to make every AAAA player in Northern Kentucky feel good about themselves. And, actually it wasn't the best comment I could have come up with, but it was the quickest way to get to the point of the matter.
  6. And for what it's worth, as much as I liked listening to Kozerwski (sp) answer questions after the game, whoever was asking him the questions has miles to go before he's only awful. He couldn't even finish a sentence.
  7. That's the M/O for Holmes. I really liked what Kozerwski (sp) said on the radio after the game regarding the penalties. To paraphrase, he said, sure they affected the outcome of the game, but that's why they are in the rule book. We had five guys out there working their tails off to make sure the game was played as cleanly as possible. If you block someone in the back, its a penalty and it's going to be called.
  8. Did Newport ever seriously threaten to score?
  9. AAAA football in Northern kentucky just isn't very good.
  10. If what you say is true, then why add two more classes to let the rich get even richer? Let those same 15-20 schools scrap for four titles instead of six, at least then it means a little more. Personally, I think it waters down, actually it poisons Ky. football, from a competitive standpoint. It's simple math, the fewer teams you have to compete with, the lower the bar is set.
  11. :ylsuper: First of all, if anyone transfers from any ninth region school to another and the parents say it is for job purposes, they may as well look you in the face and say "I think you're a moron,". Every school in the region is less and a half hour apart. Secondly, Boone does seem to get a lot of transfers, even after they've started playing high school ball, never mind the ones they get entering high school. I'm guessing not many people pay attention, or their would surely have been some grumblings before now. Lastly, and I don't want to get on a soap box, but the KHSAA just went to six classes for football to ease some of the public/private debate. So they created more champions in the one sport, that public schools have won plenty over the years. In the meantime, girls sports are being absolutely DOMINATED by private schools, yet no one seems to care. Just saw the girls soccer poll (a one class sport FWI), five of the top six teams in the state are private. It'll be the same in volleyball, again, etc. etc.
  12. With that many kids, you have to make two teams. Either go with an A team and a B team, or simply split the squad. Either way gets a bunch of the kids on the field and keeps them playing for another year.
  13. Nice shots, guru. I'd like to hear your analysis of this one though. I expected a rather easy Highlands win, but this was really one sided. Highlands is a very good NKY team, but this apprantely was a totally one sided affair.
  14. And most of the free world awaits with breathless anticipation....But I'm not sure this has anything to do with this thread.
  15. Yeah, and that neighbor must be a real hood if he's keeping an entire school from getting lights.  j/k.
  16. I'm pretty sure Dixie started their home games at 7 p.m. last year. Since this game was moved from Dixie, if the Colonels had a say in the start, I'd say it's probably at 7.
  17. Actually, this number isn't that large, for grades 9-12. X has two freshman teams because they usually have between 80 and 90 freshman come out. Many of them will never see the field, and they'll go on with other endeavors. Grades 10-12 usually produce between 80-90 kids. May be closer to 100 than 80 this year, coming off a state title.
  18. Miller is a really good one. I'm sure Mick is working him hard as well as Mackey.
  19. Van Hoose is a great shooter. Has to be one of the best in the state.
  20. Actually, they had Alexander for four years. His senior year, Boone was not the best team in AAAA. Trinity was as evidenced by their dominating performance in the finals. In fact, you can make a strong arguement that Boone wasn't the best AAAA team in their district Alexander's senior year. But, they beat Campbell County twice thanks to some excellent coaching and their committment to letting the best player on the field RUN with the ball a lot. Personally, I think Boone's best chance at a title came in 1992, when they lost 3-0 in the finals. Wasn't there a halfback pass play in the endzone, or some type of craziness? I think they were clearly the best AAAA team in the state in 87, and that has to be among the biggest "blown chances" at a title ever. And in 88, I think they were as good as eventual champ Trinity, it came down to one drive to force overtime by an eventual NFL player, and then about four inches.
  21. If you respect my opinion, thanks. IMO the kids will always want more classes, a better chance at winning "state" or even making "state". Heck when I was 16, I'd say the more the better as well. IMO, stop listening to the kids quite so much, and start looking at some facts. It's been 31 years since the state jumped to four classes. After 31 years and 29 more teams, the state wants to add two classes? It's not about walking uphill twice, never said that. It's about numbers. And in Kentucky the numbers don't support six football classes.
  22. Surely you jest. Seems like I remember a bunch of people promising the same thing at Holmes just a few years ago. Boone has a good class, so does Ryle, CovCath, Dixie, Highlands, and Holy Cross. I'd worry more about the region and less about the state thing at this point.
  23. Tough post to respond to, without getting a heads up from the guys that monitor this site. You are way off base on the whole thing, and even screwed up your arguement. Is it about giving kids a chance, or about "you can either play football or you can't." Because you said both. Right now most teams have a better than average chance, if they make the playoffs they have a chance.
