  1. How many times can they choose to get another kick? If it's only once, back up five yards and kick it out again.
  2. I think a better word for it is absurd. The KHSAA and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have to have some of the same people working for them. :ylsuper:
  3. Seems like you have something against Sorrell. If you haven't seen much of a change in his game, that's your problem. Obviously, most other people have.
  4. I'm aware of the defination of a region, but thanks. The Ohio arguement doesn't work for me on this one, because it's a far bigger state. So many more teams are involved, it's an apples and oranges arguement.
  5. Good point. I think one big difference in this discussion is that NKY has far fewer AAA teams than Lousiville does AAAA teams. CovCath and Highlands had to be in the same district because of the number of schools. Lousiville has a lot of AAAA teams, and almost every school in the area used to play "up" in AAAA even if they weren't. I remember there was a time, the KHSAA awarded a Jefferson County State Champion, and then a state-at large champion in AAAA. The Highlands-CovCath thing is a good reference point, but it doesn't really apply to this discussion.
  6. Good post. Certainly Watterson has a chance to jump into the D-II top 10 as soon as next week if they beat DeSales. If they make any kind of run in the playoffs, I'll be surprised. But, I didn't mean to say they were a bad team. Just not an elite team.
  7. And that makes them a team to fear...?
  8. Hard not to call Ryan their best player, he's certainly their top returnee. But, I agree on Sorrell, he's taken his game to another level. I wonder why no one talks about Scruggs? Isn't he going to be a three year starter this season?
  9. Like I said, it becomes moot next season.
  10. Not that it matters, but they wouldn't be top five in Cincinnati.
  11. Highlands has a lot of juniors and some sophomores on both sides of the ball to mix with their senior talent. I'd guess that throws the freshman level thing out the window. As they do most years, Highlands will play some good seniors, juniors, and sophomores on the varsity level. I think Highlands has the better football team. CovCath is good, but not quite as good.
  12. That's the way the NFL schedules games. Every team in the North faces all the AFC West teams this year, all the NFC South teams, and then the Bengals get the other two division winners from the AFC, because they won their division last season. It's a tough road, but the Pats, Steelers, and Broncos, have been there as well.
  13. I'm getting that impression because they are. Last year, they were rated near the top of the D-II poll all season, but took an early exit. This year, they aren't in the top 10 in D-II. That makes them down. Make no mistake, Westerville South, is no Colerain, St. X., Elder, or even Moeller or Lakota West. When one team leaves the game talking only about the kicker (he's good), it might be a bad loss.
  14. FWIW, the NKY district winner could go to the finals this year. But, Boone has already lost to Meade County, and Meade may not be the best team in their district.
  15. Why? And, why should St. X, Trinity, and Male all have to beat on each other by round three this year? It makes little sense to me. Football already has FOUR champions, why not let the best teams stick around until somebody else in their class can beat them?
  16. Hard post to respond to, but I'll do my best. Trinity is an excellent program, I've certainly never said otherwise. Dixie beat them ONCE, how many years to you want to beat your chest about it? BTW, that WAS a good Dixie team, and a nice win. If the Colonels are "never where we should be in week one" (your words) that is a problem because that's when the season starts. Personally, I think it has more to do with your week one opponent and less to do with Dixie not being prepared, but that's just me. What's the "hiding and saying" thing about? I happen to think AAAA football in NKY just isn't very good lately (last two years). Not a knock on anyone, just my observation. I have ideas as to why, but so does everyone else. Of course, it all become moot next season.
  17. I'd heard several times that WVU is his "first choice", but he wasn't ready to verbal. But, I've seen in writing more than a few times, that he's headed to Morgantown?
  18. Bad loss for CovCath. Watterson isn't in the top 10 in D-II, and it was a home game.
  19. It's a high school forum, so I won't get into this very much, but I sure hate to see Anderson leaving the state. Especially to a school that will battle Lousiville every year for a BCS bid.
  20. :thumb: Excellent post. Once district play starts, Dixie and Boone are bound to look better, based on who they are playing. That doesn't necessarily mean they've become "good", just better than the teams on their schedule. Boone has played CovCath in week one for a long time, and until recently more than held their own, won some, lost a couple more, but always pretty close game. CovCath was winning AAA titles during many of those years, they haven't done that lately, but now seem to cruise past Boone. In the early part of the decade, Dixie didn't need a "warm-up" period. They played everyone tough from week one, and beat both CovCAth and Highlands at some point. Right now, AAAA in NKY just isn't very good.
