I also agree Covington Catholic is the top team in 4A. For as of Boyle's head scratching. Their starting QB went out with a rib injury in the first half. I believe that play was also the fumble and TD ran back for the the Knights. Throw in a sophomore back up QB that wasn't expected to play with no reps with the first team didn't help our cause either. Boyle has been hit with the injury bug with multiple players out before the game even started. No doubt about it Lexington Catholic took it to Boyle and came out fired up and ready to compete. Boyle will be ok. If we can get healthy we will be fine come playoff time.

The main reason we won last night! 431 yards of offense. These guys took one on the chin last week and was determined to make up for it last night.

Well I did have 10 miles planned running earlier in the morning. Nothing worse than having issues in a middle of a run through town. Had to cut it to 9 but I did it with no problems.

Couple of things that surprised me the most on the game was. Highlands had 32 passes to 24 rushes. #22 Lorenzen not touching the ball more. Boyle with a unbalanced line that Highlands could not stop. Everyone knew what was coming and where it was going when the line shifted but couldn't be stopped. Boyle's O-line gets a A+ last night!

Be interesting to see how the 4A polls look when the new one comes out on Monday.

How about Sophomore QB Jhett Raleigh making his first ever varsity start against the #2 4A Highlands Bluebirds! 9-13 164 yards, 1 TD and ZERO Interceptions. Did everything you could have ask for to give your team a chance for a win. When Boyle gets their tackles Yocum and Goodman in the lineup their running game should be even better. Smith-Hisel it a great little runner, he just needs to hold onto the ball. On the defensive side Lucas Akers was all over the place making tackles. With Borders-Coffman not 100% he picked it up big time tonight. I though holding Highlands to 84 yards rushing for the game was huge for our defense. I never would have thought we would have 200 yards more than the Birds on total offense. Boyle has a lot injuries but they're healing. Quite a few back ups getting minutes on the field that will pay dividends come playoff time. Glad that we have a off week next week to heal even more. Ballard in 2 weeks, and St.X coming the following week.

It's time for these guys to come out of retirement this weekend. Friday night is not going to be a cakewalk (no pun intended).

Remember those two games very well. Been to all the game between these two teams. 2003 Boyle won 22-21 in a barn burner and 44-10 for the State Championship. 2004 Highlands returned the favor and won both game and broke Boyle's 5 peat on Championships. Don't care what the KHSAA says Highlands won on 9/17/04. 2011 Highlands won 35-14 when Boyle was struggling. 2012 Highlands won 52-31. 2019 Boyle shut out Highlands 30-0 when they were struggling 2020 Boyle clocked them at Highlands 46-7 Series is tied at 4-4 in my book. I agree. Everyone thought the same after the 2019 season with the loss of 21 Seniors from the 2019 team (Reese Smith, Reed Lanter, Reiley Colwick, Wilson Kelly, Landon Bartleson and company. I can remember talk in the Boyle camp that the sky was falling after losing the 2019 class. The 2020 team took care of business and won Justin his 1st. State Championship. This years group has worked extremely hard since the Cov Cath loss and want to show the state they too can continue the Boyle train.
