  1. He was the only one of the major players on the Cavs to have a positive +/-. The other two on the entire team were Williams (+4) and Korver (+3). Love was -11 and Irving was -9. As I mentioned after Game 1, people love to laugh and parrot "Lebron needs help" as if he was supposed to carry everything by himself, and guess what - the numbers show he's still carrying more than his fair share. This is a man that has lifted his teams to 7 consecutive NBA finals, and in 2007, literally carried his team there. I don't believe he is the GOAT, but he is in the conversation and it is disingenuous for people to continue to pretend otherwise.
  2. It's easily the best of the DC Extended Universe (which doesn't count the movies before Man of Steel). In and of itself, that doesn't say a lot, because the DC movies have not been all that great. But this one is actually good.
  3. Series doesn't begin until the road team wins. I'll say this though - Pittsburgh better not lose one at home, because they are not going to win Game 6 in Nashville.
  4. I'm curious, did they do a similar study for the coverage of President Obama?
  5. The "LeBron needs more help" take is amusing, and I admit that it got really old hearing that, but it feels really misplaced in this context. Did the Warriors not go out and get one of the five best players in the NBA (SI had him #2 entering the year) in the offseason and add him to a team that lost none of its major contributors (Harrison Barnes was their best departing player) from a team that set the NBA record for wins in a year? A team that Cleveland somewhat miraculously beat last year? Is this not what we expected would happen when the Warriors got their hands on Cleveland? I personally expected this series to go five. I'm not certain it will now, but the "LeBron needs help" take is played out. He spent his initial years in Cleveland trying to lift a team of absolute nobodies to a title, which is where the phrase came from. NO ONE wins with no one around them, not even MJ. Kobe didn't win a single title without a dominant big alongside him. Shaq's only title without Kobe came via one of the most dominating finals performances ever in DWade. Steph Curry needed help - he got it. LeBron needed something comparable to match (which didn't exist given Durant's stature) - he didn't get it. And here we are.
  6. Per Mike the Tiger's Wikipedia page (which I'm linking because it references a book as its source which isn't available for online viewing): "LSU first adopted its "Tigers" nickname in the fall of 1896.[2] The moniker is a reference to the state's Confederate heritage; the Louisiana troops of Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia became known as the Tigers during the Civil War in recognition of the bravery of two New Orleans brigades, the Tiger Rifles and the Washington Artillery (whose logo featured a snarling tiger's head).[3]" So, I guess while that part is true, who in the world would even know that and associate the two at this point? It's a Tiger!
  7. I felt awful for Anderson at the end. He was dominant the entire series, and almost carried his team to the finals. But he could not see that knuckleball puck coming on the final shot.
  8. Like pretty much all leaders, Mr. Tackett makes good decisions and bad. I will say that I have more often than not been dissatisfied with where he comes down on decisions such as this. And he usually seems to struggle to find an appropriate response in those situations as well (such as his assertion that they aren't consolidating championships in Lexington when all evidence suggests otherwise). So this debacle is pretty much in stride with that. We, the state of Kentucky, deserve better than Mr. Tackett.
  9. I have thought he would go for the last week, but I do find it strange that he has yet to announce. I guess he's just going to keep all options open and evaluate everything until the last moment. Tentatively, I'd guess he stays in the draft.
  10. At this point it's al gravy to me. I have nothing against Anaheim, but I wanted either the pure first timers (Nashville), the Canadien team (Ottawa), or the team I've had an affinity for since Lemieux (Pittsburgh). I'm going to be happy with whoever lifts the cup. Great series this one. Rinne was standing on his head.
  11. I had a vision of Kerry showing up to the presser in a wig claiming to be his own long lost brother.
  12. Well the way promotion and relegation works in England if interpreted here, you start with the six classes (or however many) by the current method. Each year you could take the four semifinalists and bump them up, and objectively whatever the bottom four of the class above it is. And yes, I think you just go to the nth degree. If Mayfield is good enough to win or finish in the semifinals each and every year in each class, why not go to 6A? There could be some refining, but I honestly believe this would be the best method of working things out and matching teams with appropriate competition. It'll never happen, but I think it's a fantastic model.
  13. Honestly, of all the ideas ever related to this, I think this is by far the best one. Let the cream rise all the way up. Scheduling would probably be a nightmare if they tried to do it every year, but there has to be a hybrid.
  14. My personal favorite so far, just because I loved the block K.
  15. Dang. I had literally just been looking up info on where he stood two hours ago, and I guess he announced the next hour. That hurts. I'm very surprised.
  16. Black Hole Sun remains one of my favorite songs ever. Great singer, a shame to lose him.
  17. It's Jeff Griffith, formerly HC at Barren County the last two years, Boone County before that, and most prominently, defensive coordinator at Bowling Green from 2002-2012.
  18. I understand how a state gets there, but that's a pretty high burden of proof to prove the move is not for athletic purposes.
  19. Pittsburgh is getting ravaged by injuries.
  20. I believe the 14th district is the only one in the 4th Region that does it. When they did it years ago for the first time, I thought it was crazy, and I still think committing no less than 1/3 of your entire season to district play is overkill. But it does let the cream rise to the top and typically prevents tiebreakers.
