Rightfully so, imagine going back in time and telling a player on the ‘10 Dragons that Warren East would have a better football team for the next 15 years. Would’ve got the strangest looks, crazy how quickly things can change.

@DragonFire Harness definitely was more qualified but exactly like you said Clark wanted to be there, totally different than someone trying to boost their name. It’s as if the school district isn’t able to connect the dots in the hiring process, shameful to our community really. No one was hit harder than Central during the expansion in the district, though I do have to argue East isn’t that much better of a job. Sure the Raiders have beat them every year for a decade until this past year but whatever Coach Griffith had rolling for the WE has been completely washed away, couple that with the talent leaving the school, it’s going to be rough out Louisville rd these next couple of years.

A lot can change in two years though, I don’t mind them going back every other year to reassess. Believe it has beneficial for all.

@VF111 hit a lot of strong points earlier in this thread, doesn’t seem too far fetched for this job to gain that sort of attention. What worries me is the fact only 2 of the 5 head coaches in the last 25 years have had success and longevity in their stints on Louisville road. One of those in Coach Bruni was selected by a totally different administration and to be frank the school is completely different. While they did upgrade the field, weight room, and school itself, a lot of tradition left that door when Coach stepped down in 2012. I laugh at the situation they’ve created, every away team that comes to the Smurf Turf gets a little extra juice to beat these Raiders because of what they have. Not a reflection of the community nor has it benefited the players who have came through the program, just soft, from the principal to the freshman linebacker. The facilities weren’t earned, it was just the school district trying to pity the north side kids after they put them on the back burner for years to cater to the money in the South and upstart their school. WE RA! Have to get somebody in the building who can get back to the tradition of what it is to be a Raider. A lot of these candidates are trying to use the job as a stepping stone, would be an awful decision by this administration. Pivotal hire, I’ll guess the job will open up again in 2 years and yours truly will be applying that next go around.

Young man reopens his recruitment, averaging 24ppg, 6 apg, and 2 spg while shooting 55% from the field and 42% from 3 to start his SR year. #1 PG in the state, should be interesting where this goes. The Panthers are currently 7-2 and the top contenders in the 3rd region. He holds offers from Arizona State, Belmont, ECU, Marshall, as well as some smaller mid major programs.

4 - Alabama 3 - Miami 2 - Oregon 1 - Ole Miss

Maybe before Coach Burns arrived in Pulaski County. Warriors numbers have been down the last couple of seasons and they’re coming off of a 1-10 record, not sure how big that really is.

Best Coach in the State is supposed to win the award and how anyone could even attempt to create an argument against Coach Smith and his Spartans is beyond me. I despise the school in the South as much as anyone, but you cannot deny the results and consistency they show yearly. The question for me is how long can the Spartans continue to hold onto this gem? Know they take care of their own but I have a hard time believing he isn’t getting calls from out of state that may pose a better opportunity on a national scale, but he seems to enjoy life here in Bowling Green and what he has helped create for their community is top tier in our State.

Ty Ashley for OB was very impressive to me this year.

Another District 15 matchup from last night, was an absolute beatdown from the tip. The Scotties went on a 19-0 run to start the game, believe the announcers said the Raiders had 8 TO’s in the 1Q alone. Glasgow just kept pressing this lowly Warren East team and getting easy buckets at the rim. Thought the size discrepancy was a major issue in WE’s half court defense they didn’t allow much action inside, so I guess that is one bright spot just didn’t have enough points to get that set up. A longggg season for these Raiders indeed though they did get their first win against Fort Campbell earlier in the week. I think the two matchups with Glasgow and Barren will be exciting, no sure winner in D15 in my opinion. Glasgow will be playing in the inaugural tournament of the Chopped Lawn Care Classic at South Warren HS, they open with a very solid Muhlenberg County team. Warren East host Edmonson County this evening and then will be out of action until Jan 2nd where they head to Barren County.

What a game they had last night in Barren County, hour delay due to a power outage and the road team Patriots didn’t crumble at all. They have a very good group of kids, what they lack in size they make up for in effort and I have to applaud Coach Garrett and his staff for their gameplan in this one. The Trojans were unable to get anything going offensively, they have multiple big men who can score at the rim but their guards were unable to get the ball inside. A heroic 3 pointer for Barren County with just a few seconds left down two points got them this win, know Coach Cunningham is happy with the results but in the fashion they got it has to be a little concerning. Barren is off for a week until they participate in the H&H Holiday Hoopfest, ACS is on the road to Caldwell County the day before Christmas Eve in a Region 2 v Region 4 matchup.

Haven’t heard much of nothing, Brad Hood possibly? Which didn’t make sense when it was mentioned to me but maybe a change of scenery could be good for a coach who just had his worst outing in 20 years with the Patriots. I like the Tony Adams mention unsure if he’d leave the Greenwood program though. AD Barnett just worked with Coach Smith and the Spartans, I think getting a former Raider would be a solid approach. It’s been rather quiet on the North side of town though, not a serious job. Administration is a thorn in the side to those they don’t see as a friend.

Not sure either but they definitely could’ve used him this evening. Believe I read he is out for the entire KOB tourney.

It’ll be a very tough ask for the Dragons. Kaleb Prince is a great ball player but I do know when he was needed against CAL last year for the Raiders in the smaller school state championship he went 3-10, in the district tournament he goes 4-13 both were losses. What I’m getting at is in the moments he was needed it was tough for him to get it going. This is a whole new team, system, it should come easier but in a game of this magnitude and the sort of crowds you can get at these outings I’m just not sure he’ll be big enough for the moment. I hope I’m very wrong and he drops 30 and the Dragons find a way to win this one but I’ll take X by 10 and possibly more if Byrd can’t get it going for Central, he hasn’t looked too solid this year but I know he can play.

Spartans had a really slow pace to start the 4th up a couple of buckets. Shot clock will cut that bogus ball out soon enough but it was a fun defensive game. The length of South’s wings were too much for the Trojans offense throughout the evening. Allen County has a scrappy team but I’m not sure they’ll be able to protect the paint Thursday. Barren County should get things back on track in that matchup. Spartans host the Aces Friday evening and a win tonight was definitely a boost of confidence after a tough loss to Monroe County, not sure they’ll have enough to stop Carothers and company but they’ll give them a tough game.

Warren East may not win a game all season long, losing by 30 to FCA is inexcusable. They’re allowing 80+ a game this year, understand the talent may not be the best but that’s just no effort from the coaches or players. Another team I’ve been disappointed in is Russellville, not from an expectation standpoint from the preseason or anything but how do you drop a game to the Bluegrass Blazers, just unbelievable. Warren Central has been steady, didn’t expect much from the offense early got a new group in there and they’ll need time to gel but the defense as usual is amongst the best around. Greenwood seems to have a scrappy bunch. The Bowling Green win was impressive considering their first few outings. Looking forward to that South Warren and Barren County game Tuesday evening.

Oh yeah and Gavin Carter as well, almost forgot he was apart of that bunch too.

Losing Prince to the crosstown school hurt and even if he was around I’m not sure he could will this team. 13 players on the roster and ELEVEN are sophomores, essentially no upperclassmen. Has to be pointed out that Prince isn’t the lone former Raider for the Dragons, Byrd was a Warren East kid as well. Lightfoot is a tremendous athlete but politely he isn’t much of a basketball player and they’re needing too much from the young man. The two I mentioned above though are solid ball players, don’t believe they’ll be enough to be competitive in the 15th District but good experience for the next couple of seasons nonetheless.

Had to check into this 4th region matchup after seeing the Raiders let up 108 in their season opener against the Lakers of Russell County. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be after the lopsided score Tuesday evening. A lot of missed shots early, ended the half with the Panthers up 40-38. A lot of fouls against Russellville tonight, had four different players (3 starters) that had four fouls to start the 4th quarter. Not much size for either team, it was a track meet and the Raiders couldn’t keep up for all four quarters. Raiders just have to knock down their shots, only 19 points in the 2H though they were getting decent looks. Was impressed with two of the Raider sophomores Luke Barron and Miyan Reynolds, good size wing players who can attack the rim. Reynolds is a very solid defender as well. Panthers have a handful of guys who can score the basketball, very unselfish team and a lot of extra passes resulting in easy layups Warren East (0-2) will be on the road to Franklin Simpson Monday evening. Russellville (2-0) is on the road at Barren County Tuesday. Some more 4th region matchups, keep them coming!

A damn shame they don’t have a SR guard in the likes of Trevy Barber on the court. Crazy that he got more run at the varsity level in 8th grade than his 9-10th grade years, thus leading to him not even playing last year. Had to be something behind the scenes that I’m not aware of because Coach Sherrill couldn’t tell me they’re better off without him on this team, looked lost all evening.

Very surprising, I was very confused to see Franklin struggle with ACS. They never seemed to be comfortable from the on ball pressure the Patriots put on them. Great win for them and one heck of a bounce back in my opinion.

The Spartans will bring one heck of a crowd, that’s for certain! I’m having mixed feelings about this one on the field, Trinity has the better team across the board but I don’t think I’m taking Cobb over Brandon Smith. Someone mentioned it earlier on the thread that you can never count Smith out, they don’t lose often and to think they’ll just blown out of the water is hard for me to imagine even against the green giant. I do believe the Spartans will be able to blow up the interior of the Trinity OL, have some massive bodies and their LB’s play well off of them. Will it be enough, we’ll find out, but I do think they’ll be competitive in this matchup. The two top teams in the State, the gap can’t be 28 points wide. Rocks 35 Spartans 24

A nice gritty 4th region matchup to open the year, ACS traveled to Franklin Simpson. I was very impressed with the Patriots tonight. With it being the opener I have to assume the Wildcats are just working off the rust. Was a great game from tip to the end. Huge 3 to tie it at 50 at the minute mark for the Patriots, quick couple of buckets expanded the lead to 4 for FS. Took awhile for the Patriots to respond, they capitalized off a couple missed free throws and hit a 3 to make it a 1 point game with 4 seconds left. Late foul on the inbound sent FS to the line with 1.9 seconds and they knock one down the first and get an offensive rebound on the 2nd attempt. Closing out with 2 more FT’s. ACS Points- Spears 14, Pedigo 22, A. Grainger 9, Coffey 2, Morgan 2, Turner 4 FS Points- Brooks 12, McAllister 11, Partinger 15, Sharer 17, Brewer 2 Definitely something to look forward to this season for ACS after going 11-18 last season. The Wildcats play the Purples tomorrow evening in BG. I’ve missed some HS basketball indeed.
