Gators leading at the half, the Raiders OL has been nonexistent. Not necessarily getting bullied but there have been a lot of missed assignments, seems like a defender was coming untouched every snap. I’ve been throughly impressed with SR Davis Chaney for Greenwood, good ballplayer. Halftime 21-6

The Raiders will be without their Head Coach tonight and what seems to be the foreseeable future. Coach Hall was absent last Friday night in their opener and it has became known that he is on administrative leave. Believe I’ll have to change my prediction around a little in this one, rather than 35-21 I’m going to say 42-14. Tough break for the Raiders who were already having to put a lot of new faces on the field. Hope everything works itself out but very disappointing news for the players when you lose your leader at the start of the season.

The JR RB Kadin Hanshaw for the Cougars is a great talent. The young man had 5 Touchdowns last week on 16 carries for 156 yards in a win for the tobacco stick against their rival Edmonson County. I expect another big performance from him this evening and another tally in the win column for Grayson County.

@Brown By point differential it may of been their largest defeat but it’s hard for me to look past a loss to McCracken and call the team anything more than average. Which could that mediocre team be the Panthers come Friday night? Possibly, I don’t have any sort of idea. I like their situation though, catching the Aces off an upset and the short week. Plus, it’s the home opener with a new Coach so they should have a nice turnout. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Aces come in and blow the roof off the place either, just trying to give County the benefit of the doubt.

If you look at just last year they beat OB and that high octane offense only managed to put up 28 points the following week against a mediocre Henderson County team.

Something I’ve enjoyed through the years when watching a football game is creating the opinion on whether or not offenses have an actual system or just a collection of plays. What I’ve come to find out is a lot of the teams simply don’t know what they are trying to do offensively. You can go to any rural county across our state and find teams who have no business attempting to scheme their offense the way they do. That’s what bothers me more than anything in this day of football, is it fun watching midline, veer, and toss 70% of the game? Absolutely not, but I know it makes it difficult for defenses. They’ll get caught into a loop of consistent repetition then all of a sudden the TE pops into the secondary wide open and catches a 50 yard TD off the play action. As a fan I’d rather the game be boring than clueless and at the end of the day no coach fears the highlight plays, they lose sleep over systems that put their players in positions where they’ll have to think. Just a rant after reading about the change in the Bruins philosophy, don’t mind me. I’ll take the Panthers in this one though.

Catholic wins, though I will point out that they’ll be lacking the extra day of rest and Daviess wasn’t challenged at all in their 45-6 route. Aces play down to their level with some mental and physical fatigue and coming off an emotional high it may be closer than expected. I pointed out last week the Panthers had less players than Russellville per KHSAA website which was only 32, revisited this afternoon and they now have 48 listed. Sounded off and it was so that checked out to be false. Still rather low for a school of their size but hopefully Coach Wallace can get something rolling for the County school, they’ve already met their win total from last year maybe they can add a couple more later in the season just won’t be this Friday. 35-13

It’s was an underwhelming showing from the top of the class in the debut of the 2025 season but I’m not upset about these rankings. It’s early, tough to tell, Atherton praise has been interesting. The Maroons win over the State runners up in 3A last season was nice but who knows what the Braves will be this year they lost a lot. Scott County against the Purples next week!

This will be the 8th meeting between the two cross county foes in the last decade, Greenwood holds a 4-3 advantage in that time frame. Which is nice considering they only played 2 times the decade before. The Gators rolled over Westmoreland (TN), had over 200+ yards rushing averaging over 10 ypc as well. SR’s Davis Chaney and Nathan Self should be in store for another great night on the ground come Friday. The defense forced a couple of turnovers, had 4 players with 10+ tackles, all Seniors so it seems as though this is an experienced bunch of Gators they are fielding. The Raiders were simply outclassed against Floyd Central (IN), they’re about to face another team who will get downhill and try to bully them in the trenches. The offense after rewatching the tape isn’t all bad, there were some flashes of promise and again the Highlanders were just dominant from the first whistle to the final horn. I’m not sure the Gators are of that caliber but this will be a great test for Warren East to see where exactly they are and how they want this season to go moving forward. I want to say that the Raiders will be able to score the football, which I expect more than 7 points but they’ll need a lot to make up for what the Gators will be able to garner. I still think the Purples defense is sound, some questions in the secondary at times but I don’t believe they’re in disbelief because they let up 23 points last night. Neither side will push the pace offensively, but I do agree a turnover here and there or some quick possessions could definitely inflate the score. However, the Purples defense can turn their opponents over as well which is what led me to the prediction.

Have a look at PT’s schedule, remove the Cardinals from it and say Mayfield played those 9 teams. Tell me who you would be concerned about to prevent them from winning all 9, maybe MNH but I’d have to see it.

Tilghman looked like they had some jitters in their 1st game of the year until the 2H rolled around and they remembered what they’ve been building. I like Crowe, Thompson is special. They’ll just continue to grow as the season progresses, hate that their only true test of the season will be a rivalry matchup next week against Mayfield. Blue Tornado 56 Eagles 7

Don’t need but 2-3 seconds to let one fly to a Mr. football type of talent, many throws where Stautman gave his WR’s a chance to make a play down the field that were simply not brought in. Didn’t expect it to be as even up front as it was no doubt; but that Purples OL wasn’t annihilated the way you just portrayed, the opportunities were there.

Barbers mom just posted on Facebook that there is no break nor dislocation. Great news for that young man, his family and team. An undersized athlete who has been severely overlooked by programs at the next level who undoubtedly needs his SR year to boost his stock. I’m sure he’ll still be out this week and possibly another one, but not nearly as bad as the rumblings I was hearing last night.

Game of the week no doubt! I thought the 56 points the Spartans scored against Station was rather impressive, but I am surprised they let up 35 points. Should be a very good game, wish it was in Bowling Green would love to see this one in person. I’ll predict a repeat of that 2023 matchup. Crimsons 38 Spartans 35
