Owensboro Catholic takes the trip down New Hartford Rd to take on the Daviess County Panthers.

Owensboro Catholic is coming off a upset win over the Bowling Green Purples in what could be the "upset of the year".

Daviess County is coming off a huge win over the Russellville Panthers 45-6.

Can Daviess County pull off an upset or does Owensboro Catholic go 2-0?

Who do you got and what are your thoughts?

Ocath all the way. Running clock.

Owensboro Catholic 35-7.

OC has to roll here 49-7

Catholic wins, though I will point out that they’ll be lacking the extra day of rest and Daviess wasn’t challenged at all in their 45-6 route. Aces play down to their level with some mental and physical fatigue and coming off an emotional high it may be closer than expected.

I pointed out last week the Panthers had less players than Russellville per KHSAA website which was only 32, revisited this afternoon and they now have 48 listed. Sounded off and it was so that checked out to be false. Still rather low for a school of their size but hopefully Coach Wallace can get something rolling for the County school, they’ve already met their win total from last year maybe they can add a couple more later in the season just won’t be this Friday.

35-13

@TheBallCoach I’ve never seen Catholic not laser focused and doubt they will be playing down to DC’s level.  I expect a complete beatdown, and even if only a 2 to 3 TD game, they will play until every whistle and to the end of the 4th - they are a different animal.  Now DC might be a lot better than we all expect, but Catholic will be hard hitting and focused.

If you look at just last year they beat OB and that high octane offense only managed to put up 28 points the following week against a mediocre Henderson County team.

I’ve never personally seen effort not be 100% - not sure what happened there, but Hendo is always a huge athletic team.  They only gave up 2 points to Hendo but it looks like Hendo rolled up 200 + yards of rushing.  I’m sure the effort was still high.  Atwell had 312 and 3.  Hendo has the ability too - they took Mayfield to Double OT last year and played South Warren tough.  The catholic game was their worst defeat.

@Brown By point differential it may of been their largest defeat but it’s hard for me to look past a loss to McCracken and call the team anything more than average. Which could that mediocre team be the Panthers come Friday night? Possibly, I don’t have any sort of idea. I like their situation though, catching the Aces off an upset and the short week. Plus, it’s the home opener with a new Coach so they should have a nice turnout. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Aces come in and blow the roof off the place either, just trying to give County the benefit of the doubt.

I understand.  Believe me I want DC to win, love Coach Q.  I hope they outperform!
