Wing-T Needed in Greater Louisville Area
This is the greater point here. I love the wing T, obviously, but it takes a lot to coach it and to get kids to remember all of it. Doss, for example, improved MIGHTILY this year and it’s almost all because they just simply run the football. I Formation, tackle over, run the football at you. A lot of lesser level teams could learn from them!!

Rules Emphasis for 2024
Here's what I personally think, if a kid has knee pads in his pants and his pant legs are pulled down as far as they go, keep it moving. Kid doesn't have knee pads? Kid has his pants rolled up to his thighs? Send them to Alcatraz, fine with me. Football pants are supposed to be tight. If a kids 6'2" and 170 pounds, is the school supposed to order special pants to make the legs longer for him? Again, saw several kids get a scrimmage stopped, and then pulled out because the ref deemed their pants to be too short. At that point you're just being nitpicky and not worrying about the safety of the kid.

I saw several kids get a scrimmage stopped, then pulled out of the game even though they had knee pads in and their pants were NOT pulled up over the knee. If you think pulling kids out of a game who have knee pads in, and their pants are pulled down as far as they can go is the right thing to do, then idk man.

Gonna drive me insane if there's kids getting pulled out of games left and right because even though they have knee pads in, their pants are "too short". Just tell them to try to pull them down more and keep it moving. Football players don't need (or want) their pants to go down to their shins.

The Wing-T, championship offense or glass ceiling offense?
Is Mayfield balanced? In the state title game last year they had 23 completions and 36 rushing attempts, and scored 53 points. What about Bowling Green with 18 completions, to 28 rush attempts? Not to mention Pikeville with 3 completions to 29 rush attempts. Big School title game had Trinity with 45 rush attempts to 15 completions. How did Bryan Station beat Ballard to get the chance to lose to Trinity? 6 pass completions, 29 rush attempts. Unless you have a legit college level QB (and several WRs and an Oline that can pass block) you better be pretty run heavy and get real good at doing it.

The Wing-T, championship offense or glass ceiling offense?
If Male/X/T ran the wing t, the wing t would win 6A every year, and their wing back would break the state record for YPC solely running belly sweep. If Central Hardin actually ran the wing t and stuck with it, they’d probably win more than they already do (Specifically the BE game a couple years ago). A good wing t system is one of the most balanced offenses you can have, 3/4 dudes getting 10 carries a game and 8/10 passes a game is about as balanced as you can get. There’s also several different variations of the wing t, and depending on the type of kids you have, each year could be ran differently. People often boil offense down to either a pass or a run, and it’s never that simple. I think people underestimate how many kids in the state can run a legit spread offense and would be successful throwing the ball 60% or 70% of the time.

Spencer County 57 Simon Kenton 51 (8th Region Championship)
Bears down 7 with 3 minutes left, started hitting shots and took the lead with 1:10 left. Well deserved trip to Rupp for the fighting Jason Burns’. First trip to State in the school’s history, including Taylorsville High School.

Spencer County 71 Woodford County 68 2OT (30th District Championship)
I went and looked at this on the YouTube broadcast. From 1:30 left in the 2nd quarter at 30-29, until the final buzzer in double OT, the game was within 3 points. An hour and 20 minutes real time. Instant classic.

Spencer County 71 Woodford County 68 2OT (30th District Championship)
Third district title in program history for the Bears. Tough, physical, back and forth game. Felt like it was at most a 3 point game for a solid 45 minutes.

Open Job: Shelby County
If kids want to leave because their head coach got fired for committing several violations, its probably for the best that they're gone.
