Right, we have to get away from mandatory district games or this will continue year after year and I assume it will get worse. 

I tend to agree, but the downside to that is 1) it can't happen with RPI; and 2) that schools who don't have to schedule won't schedule against teams that don't fit their agenda.  Part of me wants to believe that the market bears what the market bears, but I just don't think that is always true.

Why can't it happen with RPI?  A given school either plays these ten teams or those ten teams.

I agree. I would go to regions and then schedule who you want. Have four regions and minimum of 8 teams per region. Top 8 teams per region based off RPI then seed those 8 teams off RPI. Once down to 2 teams per region can reseed those 8 teams similar to like they do now in round 3.

Get rid of districts????? A district championship is what 90% of high school programs play for, and you wanna get rid of that?? Give me a break ?

People have very selective memories. They think 4 classes and only 16 teams in the playoffs will suddenly give us close hard fought games. I randomly pulled up 1982. Here is a link that will show you the entire playoffs and game scores for all the games.

Guess what? More than half the games in round one were won by 21 or more points. Half the games in the next round were won by 21 or more.

Look at last year. Round 3 in 6A, 3 of the four games were blowouts. Same for 5A. In 4A and 3A, 2 of the 4 games were blowouts. In 2A all four games were won by 21 or more points. Class 1A is the only class where all 4 games were competitive. So about half the games were won by 21 or more. Same as 1982. 

So what is the complaint? Get rid of districts, reduce the number of teams in the playoffs, reduce the number of classes - what will it get you? Fewer football games for kids and half the games will still be lopsided. Are the games for kids to have experiences they will carry with them for life or trying to make every game entertaining for fans?

Lopsided games exist in every system. Live with it if you like football and want as many kids as possible to experience as much of it as possible.
