2 great write ups. Only thing to be added for Highlands would be on defense. Carson Shelton is starting on Dline and Christian Stojkovic has been in the main rotation at LB. Should be a good week 1 matchup.

I caution that this review is coming from a Highlands perspective with no intentions to knock any team or players ?. After watching the Varsity film, here are some things that stuck out. Both teams were pretty vanilla. Highlands looks real good in the 2 TE sets with Benke and Schneider blocking and available for play action. Makes the line so much more physical. Gielser, James and Hosea will be a good trio that can allow them to stay fresh all game. All 3 ran the ball hard. Once they settle on a QB, all they have to do is find the open guy which they still struggle with at this point. So much size and speed at the skill positions. Only Hinegardner is under 6 ft. but he will be one of the fastest guys on the field on many Fridays. The other receivers/TEs go 6ft (Class), 6'1 (Matteoli), 6'2 (Noon), 6'2 (Schneider) and 6'5 (Benke) with good speed. I can also imagine they will be able to do some creative things with Noon and Benke being able to sling it. I felt like Verax struggled to find the open guys and was real tentative passing. Seemed that way a little in 7v7 at EKU as well. Just needs to be confident and let it fly. #1 was dinged early and rightfully held out, so that probably attributed to the limited ball movement by Ryle. #12 for Ryle popped on film with his speed. Just missed on a couple of long passes. He can also provide quite a punch on the defensive side. Ryle's Varsity Offense did not score until Highlands had their JV Defense on the field. That was on Ryle's 8th offensive possession. Highlands LBs are very good this season. Robinson and Hodge are the anchors and they can add Fenik and/or Stjokovic in the middle to help stuff the run. Highlands special teams were improved from their performance vs. Male the previous week. Ryle was a bit sloppy on punt teams especially. They had one blocked in team sessions before the scrimmage. Had only 10 on the field at least once in the scrimmage and let Noon pick one up and return it about 35 yards when they apparently thought the ball was dead. Not sure what happened on that one. Best part about it is 2 good teams were able to see where some of their weak spots are prior to the season starting. It looks to be an exciting matchup in Union on September 16th. Good luck to both teams this season.

Blue-White night is a community event. 7th grade through Varsity scrimmage and they also do Senior Night at this event. It is actually pretty cool. I totally understand that having another opponent would be good but this season, Highlands has already scrimmaged Male and Ryle heading into Blue-White Night.

This seems a bit crazy.

Being played in Fort Thomas and is considered a "controlled" practice/scrimmage. I suppose 10 O and 10 D versus live game scenario.

Tyson Beach has transferred to Princeton in Ohio.

More info came out today. The HHS Youth camp is 6/20-6/22. Sorry had that one mixed up with the FTJFL camp.

FTJFL and HHS will be having a camp on July 11th and 12th from 6:30-8:30pm. High School Players will be assisting.

Beechwood-Dixie Heights would play at 11 a.m. followed by Highlands-St. Henry at 2 with the winner of the Beechwood-Dixie Heights game coming back for a second game at 5 against NewCath. The championship game will be at 3 Sunday.

I don't think that is accurate. A ninth grader isn't transferring.

That is how I am reading it as well. This only impacts transfers from one KY school to another. It doesn't seem to stop a student from living in Ohio or Indiana and attending a KY school al long as they do not transfer to another KY school. Same would go for a non district resident attending a school starting in 9th grade. As long as they do not transfer, they can live out of district.

If the transfer to a non district residence comes from Ohio or Indiana for example, will they need to sit a year as well or only when transferring within KY?

That has never been the case for K-8. No sports activities have counted until grade 9. For example, you could play at a school in 8th grade Varsity and play anywhere you like 9th grade year.

Benke and DeSylva both collected their first Varsity hits on Saturday in Myrtle Beach. DeSylva pitched well in relief in game 2. Barth is the 3rd sophomore. Will serve as 3rd Cather and may pitch some. Benke will pitch at some point over the next 2 days.

CCH lost a bunch via graduation and had a couple of key returners end up not playing. Schuett is not playing for HHS. You will see many Sophomores contributing to the pitching rotation for the Birds. Three are going down to Myrtle Beach this weekend.

Could have followed that bad boy up 71 and been in Ft. Thomas well before game time ?

Is there a place to see the "Sister Districts" as they were in the past? Will they change if this is passed or use the same alignment as in previous years?

FYI. Mason County cancelled the game vs. Highlands on 1/15 since they advanced in the AA tournament. My guess is it was now a conflict or it gave them too many games. Bummer.
