  1. I think there is a 0% chance of him getting recruited for QB for anything other than option offense or maybe D3 that runs the QB a lot. There was a writeup from a recent Louisville camp of him making plays at receiver, so that or safety is going to be where he ends up in college (assuming he's not going for hoops at the next level). Having said that, he's still going to have a monster year as a high school QB.
  2. Haddix has really impressed me the last two years as a coach when Cov Cath played them. I think they'll be right back in the thick of it in 4A, despite losing Quisenberry who is probably the best high school player I've seen since Michael Mayer. Rolling out two 6'6+ talented tight ends is going to be a tough matchup for every team on the schedule.
  3. Gabe Weis played a good amount of snaps as safety #3 last year, so he'll be right back in the mix. I thought Jason Fedor and Grant Reardon were both good players as well after watching a few freshman/jv games the last two years. I think they'll be in the mix and we'll have more depth than usual. I didn't see any rising sophomores talented enough to take snaps away from the above players.
  4. They did last year so I expect that to be the case. The schedule is much tougher, so he will probably get spelled more on defense, but there are a few DBs in the junior class that I think are good enough to step in for those snaps and be ok back there at safety.
  5. Since Eviston arrived, I think Cash has the most juice of anyone we’ve had. He looks like he’s 175+ lbs, so he’s not small either. I should have screen recorded it, but Nevels posted a video of Cash going right after Ace Alston in a drill around a week ago. Cash was quicker and smoother than Alston breaking out of a backpedal who is a top 100 overall recruit at DB. Now maybe they weren’t going 100%, but still interesting to see back to back against a P2 corner recruit.
  6. Parents of kids who aren't playing aren't usually going to be happy, but you aren't entitled to playing time just because you went to grade school somewhere and your dad is an alum. This is competitive athletics and not intramurals. The sense of entitlement is pathetic. If you are talented, you can play multiple sports. But if you aren't that talented and want to play, you should be specializing because you don't have the natural gifts to compensate for missed development time. If sports and playing time are important and you are on the fringe, maybe go to a less competitive school... There's probably (definitely?) some stuff you can knock Ruthsatz on, but this isn't one of them.
  7. Really good player. I think he was underrecruited due to injury and lack of production his senior year, but I think he’ll get on the field early there.
  8. Maybe someone who knows a lot more about basketball than me can answer this, but how does Thelen compare as a coach to Sully and Ruthsatz? Is there that big of a gap in ability? I know he's a young coach, but that's the competition and comparison. If so, I can see some basketball first families going to St. Henry over CCH with this hire. I'd be a little surprised to see any of the football first families of bigs and big skill go to St. Henry. Ex. Cov Cath has had an FBS recruit at TE basically every year the last decade. Regardless, this hire with the football program starting up will chip away at the depth at the very least.
  9. I think Cov Cath would lose by 3+ TDs almost every season to Moeller and X. I might be being generous too. Most years, I think Elder is a bit more realistic to be competitive with if the team is up, like they will be in 25. It would take an all time team for Cov Cath to beat up on any of those three with the number of students and quality of coaching they have.
  10. Listed at 6'3 230 and plays TE, LB and short-yardage FB. The athleticism for being 230+ is very impressive and I thought he really improved as a linebacker last year from the beginning to end of the year. After another year in the weight room, he should be an excellent player the next two seasons.
  11. Lind was good last year and should be outstanding the next two years. I thought he was going to be best as a center in college in a zone scheme, but he tagged the DC at EKU in his X post so maybe interior DL is an option too. Jordan Nevels trains a lot of the local kids and he had a post this offseason about Lind being 270 and explosive...that might scream 3 tech or 4i in college if he keeps developing and putting on good weight. Exciting player!
  12. I agree 100%. This kid's hudl is really good. Definitely towards the top in NKY.
  13. Not in the know anymore, but here's my best guess as to who will replace the six pretty quality starters that graduated. It's hard to beat out any entrenched starter. WR - Oliver Link out - either Sr. Donovan Bradshaw or Jr. Mac Cogswell C - Mason Dietz out - either Sr. Ryan Haas or Jr. Colin Vinson LT - Drew Huber out - my guess is Jonny Lind to LT and So. Landon Robinson to RT. LB - Tate Kruer out - either So. Cash Myers or So. Evan Link. Probably a tandem. I thought Link was better at the beginning of the year and got varsity time, but Meyers is bigger, a better athlete and has a lot of 'dog' in him. I'd lean Myers, I thought he was much better in the freshman championship. LB/Nickel - Andrew Bessler out - Jr. Jackson Payne. He played a lot last year in sub packages and was productive. DE - Nick Krallman out - I don't know? Maybe seniors like Tucker Evans, Charlie Reeves or Mitchell Woolf getting more snaps on defense. This is a pretty big hole to fill and a big question. K/P: Not sure either. Another massive question.
  14. Looking extremely likely he’ll end up committing to a G5 school. A G5 QB plus Fryman and Pabst in the same class is going to do a ton of damage the next 2 years.
  15. My guess is a player this highly recruited is a “take” at almost every school that offers as long as the academics check out. Once you get into the 3 star/G5 range, that gets a little more tricky with commutable offers.
  16. I hate to use a first round pick comp, but he reminded me of Colston Loveland when we played Boyle. If Bama is offering then maybe it’s appropriate. So smooth for being 6’6+ and wearing number 18.
  17. I'd also nominate Jonny Lind from Cov Cath as well. Started both ways on the line as a sophomore.
  18. Certainly some average stats, but I think that is a little more indicative of the supporting cast than him. Big kid with a very live arm and can move a bit. Really good player imo.
  19. He won't get mentioned among the top guys, but I think that Dixie's QB Mason Fields is really good and under-recruited.
  20. Congrats Cam! Seems like a great opportunity for him. I think he's pretty easily the top NKY QB in the last decade or so. Excited to follow his college career.
  21. Nature of the business with QB and I don’t blame either for transferring. Cov Cath will be very experienced and athletic in the secondary this year, but I think Queen gets his “revenge” in 26.
  22. Arguably the top program in the MAC (or Miami or OU) Offers don't always equal high school production, but I don't think Beechwood takes too much of a step back on offense this year. I'm sure their coaches can't believe what fell into their lap.
  23. That wasn't meant to be negative ? More about making sure Cash is healthy for the playoffs...because if he isn't, we are getting bounced in round 2 or 3.
  24. Agreed, that would be really dumb, we just don't have the enrollment numbers for that. You want to be healthy for the playoff run, especially when you run your QB so much, and sticking in another high quality opponent in week 10 would do more harm than good if you want to win a state title. I'd love to annually have the bye week before Highlands every year like what Saban did at Bama with LSU.
  25. - Really fun schedule for everyone involved. A lot more competitive games than recent years. - Scheduling Cathedral with Elder is probably a little aggressive, but I don't fault Eviston or Tony B as it looks like we've had some difficulty getting games on the schedule. That's like adding 2 GCL South teams plus Ryle and Highlands are up and really big on the lines. I hope our bigs and TE/LB group are training hard this off-season because those are going to be tough. - While I worry about depth and numbers, especially on the line of scrimmage, we'll have probably four straight weeks of running clocks or a bye before round 2 of the playoffs to get healthy. No disrespect to Harrison and Mason County. Ceiling: 8-1 Floor: 5-4
