They pretty much have to. They don't have a choice. It is strongly "suggested' by BCPS.

If one wins their district and the other team finishes runner-up in their district, we'll get to see it in round 2 of the playoffs. It doesn't matter which one wins their district and which one finishes 2nd, but if that happens, they'll see each other in round 2 provided both win their 1st round games.

CAL gets their 4th consecutive 1st half running clock. It's homecoming for the Centurions so there should be a good crowd. This series will continue on for at least 2 more years after this one, which I think is good for both programs. Outside of this year's expected lopsided contest, this has been a very competitive series between the two programs.

Highlands Pikeville Baylor Pulaski Owensboro Catholic 45

#1 in Tennessee. Depends on which national poll but I've seen anywhere from 6 to 38.

Again, LCA will be fine. They moved the ball a little bit which no team had done on CAL yet this year. They scored on a trick play early, which was executed very well, then hit another long pass a few possessions later. Hart & Pearson are solid receivers with Pearson being deceptively fast. I really like LCAs back QB. I believe his last name was Blackerby. He made some tough throws when he had his chance to play later in the game & I'm sure he'll develop well, being under Oakley Watkins the next few years.

LCA is the better team this year. I'll take LCA by 2 TDs in this one.

As is the case with most games tomorrow, kickoff has been pushed back to 8:00 p.m.

If JCPS allows this game to be played, I see it going similar to the JV game earlier in the week. St. X - 35 Male - 13

I've said it before and I'll say it again, top end talent for top end talent, CAL can play with anybody in this state and that includes Trinity. Where Trinity has the advantage is in numbers. CAL has 3 or 4 kids who play both sides of the ball and Trinity has nobody that plays both sides of the ball as far as I'm aware. That would catch up to CAL in the late stages of a game against a team as dynamic as Trinity.

This will be the last game between these two schools until the 29-30 cycle at the earliest. This has always been a competitive game, with last year being an anomaly, so I hate to see this series end for now. LCA will not be a pushover. They are loaded with talent as well so this will be a tough test for CAL. I'm hoping for 4 good quarters of football this Friday.

Final thoughts on this one: 1) Owensboro will be fine. They have plenty of talent, they just into a buzzsaw Friday night. Some nights you're on and some nights you're not. These are high school kids. It wasn't Owensboro's night on Friday. 2) Owensboro's defense is fast and athletic, but needs to be a bit more disciplined. Once they clean that up, they'll be tough to move the ball and score on. 3) CAL's defense doesn't get enough credit, nor does they offensive and defensive lines. Everyone knows about Ja'Hyde Brown, Garyon Hobbs, Kellan Hall, Jackson Burke, etc., and rightfully so, but there are plenty of other kids that can just flat out play football. CAL's defense is fast and swarms to the ball. You very rarely see them out of position. The varsity defense has given up -17 yards this year against 2 pretty solid teams. As for the OL and DL, they're fairly quick and physical. CAL has produced some good linemen in the past like John Young and Ben Stotts and this group is no different. 4) 7 TD passes from Jackson Burke (Kindergarten) were thrown to Ja'Hyde Brown (7th grade), Noah Perkins (Kindergarten), Micah Newsome (6th grade), Garyon Hobbs (9th grade), Andrew Greene (2nd grade) and Jaden Leak (4th grade). Great games were turned in on defense by Eric Jones (6th grade), Brody Wescott (2nd grade), Kellan Hall (2nd grade) along with Jayson Ruffin (7th grade) and Gabriel Lumpkin (7th grade). For those wondering, the grades in parenthesis are the years that each of those kids started in the Christian Academy of Louisville school system.

Jackson Burke with another efficient night. He was 14/15, 260 with 7 TDs. His only incompletion was a drop by the WR.
