Just to play devils advocate as I don’t have a dog in the fight, do you REALLY want the kids input on a position like this? There is a poster on here (NL Tanker) who swears that the kids had input on another HUGE coaching job in the state (T) and the results have been underwhelming as far as Alums are concerned.

Hate that Western, Butler and DeSales in same District. All three are Regional contenders and one will be left out.

He won’t be there to coach him so does it really matter? I think the ramped up interest of Kentucky kids is another indication that Cal is done after the 23/24 season. Recruit the Perry’s and J Johnson’s and the new coach can augment with a few of their guys and transfers. Shouldn’t be a big drop off…

Tough for those kids. A lot of youth and if they stick it out and stick together they could be good in a couple of years. Tough task of coaching with that amount of youth as well. Good Luck to all of them.

Do tell??? Is the young man eligible and they are not playing him or has he not been ruled eligible by KHSAA yet?

Easily fixable if you wanted what was best for the Tourney. I've long thought the KHSAA just wants to get things over with rather than run a tourney properly. The time change that DF mentions is ANOTHER example of this. Let’s get it over with so we can get home!

Why does the KHSAA play the finals on the same night as semis? Seems odd that you’d want to do that. What is the justification for it? Didn’t they do Sunday finals a few years ago?

Sixth region will lose one of its top 4 teams (in my opinion) before the Regional starts. Western and DeSales face off in the first round of District. Sad that Kentucky still does the biggest tournament of the year like this .

And you know who was one of the top players on that team? Head Coach Kevin Klein. He could shoot it!

This is a shocking result! My question is why is X starting such a young group? Normally they are a Jr/Sr dominated squad.

So you are now talking out both sides of your mouth. Trinity gets all these great players but don’t know why a kid would want to play like that. can't have it both ways…. I'm ending my thoughts on Coach Szabo with this: He’s been nothing but a class act for 20 plus years and has taken a program that had NEVER won the region to heights the school never thought they could attain.

That’s the part I don’t get. People on here pointing to “all the talent” He has had a few D1 guys but no more than Ballard, Male, Lex Cath, MC and CC. Yet he’s the one that holds team back. Go figure….

While I agree with your groupings it’s a hard to envision Collins not making the region tourney BUT they have to win 2 games to get there. Interesting how that District is going to play out?!?!

In the Tourney you are often playing a team with near same talent. If the goal is to win State titles, playing to your strengths is the way to go. Also if you have elite athletes, defense is much easier. Too each their own.

“A lot that goes into it” Please explain? Kid gets offers from top programs around the country and it’s because his dad is an assistant on his AAU team? Dang all that time I wasted as a head coach of travel teams! If only I’d been the assistant!!!

Haters gonna hate Players gonna play Kid has proven it in HS but will have doubters going forward. My guess (as no one KNOWS) is he will be a contributor his first year at UK and shine in his second (under a coach other than Cal) The NBA will be there in the future.

I believe it opened two years ago. It has become a farm team for X and T.

Agree with the Man Child comment Felton wouldn’t have made it in todays NBA but was a fine rotation piece in his time. Best of Luck to the young man going to YSU.

You said the magic letters JCPS Anything associated with those letters is completely mis managed if it’s managed at all.

I’ll say this about Coach Anderson…he ain’t scared!!! Colts will play anyone. Tough team that will be battle tested when Districts start in two weeks.

This is really well done BUT I’d look at it a little differently. It’s the top of the region that counts. Going to 8 teams is way too many as most regions only have 4 at most that can win. The 9th may be the one region where 4 isn’t enough but you get the idea. Great work!
