8th grade quarterfinals tonight at Gray. 4:30 Turkeyfoot vs Ockerman-Turkeyfoot beat Ockerman earlier in the season 5:30 Camp Ernst vs. Campbell County-CC bested CEMS last Thursday to end the regular season 6:30 IHM vs Highlands -Highlands looks to be the clear favorite to win it all 7:30 Conner vs Pius- Pius has been playing some good ball down the stretch. Should be some good games!

Once I receive the brackets and standings tonight/early tomorrow morning I will be happy to post.

Although seeded games have been completed for the most part, my guess brackets won't come out until Friday and then will be revised three or four times due to scheduling conflicts.

Some competitive games in there for Boone next year! Look forward to seeing the improvement from year 1 to year 2.

Newport looked very disinterested in this game, and it did not help that Davis sat this one out, either. I do not have stats from this game, but would guess that the Jags shot 50% or better from the 3 point line and that Newport probably had a field goal percentage around 30%. Jags looked improved, which is exactly what you would expect from a team that did not have a ton of varsity experience coming into the year. I think by the end of the year Cooper will end up being one of those teams that no one outside of CovCath wants to see. As for Newport, others have already said it. They have to get back to the basics and get this thing turned around or this season could spiral out of control.

Valid point. Guess you could argue they are also getting better coaching and acclimated to the culture; Next question... what do you do with Juniors and Seniors who are beat out by freshman and 8th graders for playing time?

Watching Logan play as a 6th and 7th grader I have to say that she would see significant time at the varsity level. I believe the younger Freihofer is really good too but the Cooper varsity roster is very guard heavy so finding playing time may be tough. Maybe this is a topic for a separate thread, if a middle school-er is good enough to play varsity basketball then by all means they should be pulled up but what about 7th or 8th graders pulled up just to play freshman? Thoughts?

I would think that it is going to be pretty soft and muddy. Even though the sun was out today, it only reached 37 degrees. Not favorable to dry up a field in a day.

First level points for out of state school opponents are assigned a point value based upon the male enrollment. Second level points are awarded based upon the point value of the out of state school multiplied times the number of victories by the out of state school.

I still can't believe that the "General Lee" #7 didn't touch the Ball in space the last series of downs for Cooper. 1st and Goal! If he did then I missed it....But every time Cooper would direct snap it to him it was at least a 5-10 yard gain on the Edge. Speed kills! You would of thought that Cooper would of thrown a Bubble Screen or something to him at one point. Like I said Speed kills and that Kid is scary good in space. Kudos for Highlands defense for stopping whatever was thrown at them the last series. Job well done there! But could of easily been a OT scenario between Highlands and Cooper Friday. Go Birds! Highlands D stiffened up when it had too.

I am sure the Cooper coaches would love to know how you have decided to support them all of the sudden instead of question every single thing that they do. Kudos to you for supporting the team instead of bashing the team.

I don't know that anyone would "tell you off" but Cooper's offense tonight featured numerous different players, was way more effective and efficient than Highlands offense, and had a ton of different formations. The problem Cooper had tonight was finishing drives, not being vanilla on offense. Whatever problem you have with Cooper's staff seems to be a you problem. I didn't see anything tonight that I would label as predictable but you keep grinding that axe.
