The full context of the quote was, “They don’t really have any football players, they are just a bunch of athletes” I think you can see why the Beechwood “Football Players” took that personal, as MJ would say.

I don’t see how Bracken wins this game with Tarter, much less without him. The Bracken offense is very one dimensional, and I just don’t see how they score enough points to keep this one close. I think Breathitt should win this by 3-4 TDs.

If you want to keep Undefeated Holy Cross in, then you need to bump NCC out because Conner clocked them. If you originally had NCC ahead of Holy Cross, then that means you think Conner would beat Holy Cross as well, so it’s pretty easy to slot Conner at 8. Ask yourself, if Holy Cross played Conner’s schedule, how many games are they winning? The answer is maybe 2? If this is the feel good Top 10, then you can keep HC in, but if you are genuinely ranking the Top 10 teams in NKY, there is no way you can have NCC and Holy Cross both ahead of Conner, IMO.

Holy Cross has played one team with a winning record, Bracken County that finished 6-4. Their opponents overall record is 32-68. I understand they are undefeated, and it’s been a nice story, but they can’t beat NCC, let alone Conner who blew NCC out. I just think if you are thinking about it objectively, in no way can you have Conner behind NCC and Holy Cross. If Conner squeaked by NCC, then I could see the argument, but Conner dominated that game.

Conner beat NCC 42-7, so they are clearly better than NCC. Bump NCC down to 10 and Holy Cross gets bumped out of the top 10. It’s been a nice turn around season for the Indians, but they would be running clocked by Conner, just like NCC was.

I’m pretty sure Greg has been with the Beechwood staff since 1999/2000 and he became the OC immediately upon joining. Then HC Mike Yeagle was going through some off-field issues and handed over the offense once Greg finished playing at Cincinnati. Another guy on the staff that’s been there nearly the same amount of time is former Beechwood great Brandon Berger. Early on, he would join the staff when his professional baseball season would end.

It’s not Elder or St X, that would be asinine to schedule one of those schools.

Beechwood played NCC this year and beat them, and everyone else besides CCH and still finished 5th in the RPI. Let’s say Mayfield ended this year as the #1 seed instead of OCatch, Beechwood would still be hitting the road to Mayfield because their district is absolutely awful, and that’s not going to change next year, so taking the safe approach this year didn’t really help any. As far as Ryle, Highlands, Cooper go, those teams are locked into schedules next year, and the team in question has an opening week 2 of the season. On a final note, Beechwood lost to Mayfield in 2023, because of 3 things. 1. Mayfield was a really good team 2. Beechwood struggled to run the ball 3. Beechwood struggled to stop the run Also, if it takes you 6 hours to get to Mayfield then you must be driving Uncle Eddie’s RV, it’s about 4:30, which is still a long trip, but not even close to 6 hours.

RPI is always a valid concern, but Beechwood didn’t play an Ohio team this year, and they are still hitting the road for a long semi final road trip. Beechwood returns the majority of their team next year, the starters this year played basically one or two games this year where they played the entire game, these kids want to play against good competition, Fryman, Queen, Pabst etc. want to showcase themselves against good competition, and as bad as the district slate is, you have to challenge your team in the 5 games you actually get to pick. I understand your point, you have to play the RPI game, but at some point you have to give your kids something to get excited about, and playing running clock snoozers, where the starters are sitting on the bench for the majority of the 2nd half, doesn’t excite them or the coaches. If this game comes to fruition, it’s going to be a big time game for the Tigers.

As Lee Corso says, “Not So Fast My Friend” Don’t be surprised if Beechwood doesn’t swap out that NCC game with a Marquee matchup, that while may not be a huge RPI boost, it will be a matchup of premier programs from 2 different states, that will feature 2 of the best players in Greater Cincinnati! That’s all the details I can give ?

Yes, hopefully he can get back healthy for the playoffs, he’s a good player.

Sure they are better with Tarter, but if his hammy has been tweaked since week 2, and it was aggravated last week against St Henry, the playoffs are just a couple weeks away, not sure how healthy he will be in a couple of weeks. They will win the first game against West Carter, but I can’t see them going into Breathitt in a couple of weeks and coming away with a win. As far as the game this past Friday, Tarter playing or not playing would not have made much of a difference. Bracken was never going to stop Beechwood in that game.

Prestonsburg and Breathitt County are both better than Bracken County. Bracken has no passing game to speak of, and the 2nd half consisted of them basically running rugby scrum plays up the middle with an occasional pop pass. The running clock along with Beechwood’s play clock operator being asleep at the wheel more than a few times, when Bracken had about 55-60 seconds in between plays to snap the ball, helped them have the ball for the first 19 mins of the 2nd half. Beechwood had the ball 7 times, and scored 7 times. They ran 23 plays of offense, (3 Plays in the 2nd half) and could have scored at will against the soft defense Bracken was playing, that ended up almost looking like a prevent defense, and Beechwood ran the ball at will against it. I can’t see Bracken going into Breathitt and winning in round 2, unless they end up playing on a sloppy track, where Bracken’s big line and methodical run game could have some success.

RPI doesn’t come into play until round 3, so Bracken will be on the road at Breathitt County in round 2, regardless of RPI.

That’s absolutely the best solution for this but it makes too much sense, which means almost zero chance that happens.

Beechwood was down 21-18 with about 5:15 left in the game, had the ball on their own 1 yard line and completed a 99 yard TD pass to go up 24-21, PAT was blocked. Highlands got the ball back with about 5 mins left, and Beechwood had them 4th and 6 on about the Beechwood 40 yard line. Highlands completed a long pass down the seam to the TE down to the one yard line, then scored on the next play of the game to take the 28-24 lead. Beechwood had one last shot at it, but fumbled the ball around mid field and Highlands recovered and was able to run out the clock from that point on. It was a great JV game between 2 great programs, and this was the 4th straight year these 2 have played a great JV game down to the wire. Best of luck to both teams in the playoffs.

Stat pad? He touched the ball 6 times and scored 5 times. How is that stat padding? If they wanted to stat pad they would have let him run every punt back for a TD. Beechwood didn’t ask to be in this district, it’s unfortunately the district they are stuck playing, are they supposed to not play up to their abilities for the next 5 weeks so that they don’t score any points?

Well ... pretty sure Cooper didn't get much from a loss regardless of who they lose to. With that said, it could also penalize a team like Cooper if they beat Anderson (because all out of state teams have the same value). So officially not penalized ...but if Cooper beat Anderson, Moeller, St Xavier or Little Sisters of the Poor From Wapakoneta ... they get the same point value. (Unless something has changed since the last time I read up on the topic) So technically not punished ... but they wouldn't be getting the value deserved VS beating KY team with similar enrollments to the out of state teams I mentioned.

CCH nailed Beechwood on Wednesday night with blue streamers all over the trees, so I’d say this was retaliatory.
