Great season for Beechwood - it was a historic run for them! And congrats to CCH on the redemption for 2 losses! As for Thelen's dunk attempt, I applaud them both. Baugh did a good job by making sure the loss was not punctuated by that. And Thelen, the tourney MVP, tried to make a statement after loosing 2 to BW. The game was not over. Starters were all still in. And BW was still fouling. Shame on you Tiger for calling a high school athlete classless!! It has been an emotional season for both teams and there was still over 2 minutes left in the game ...

The still shot shows Miller's left elbow raised, extended and crushing the face of the defender. Whenever an elbow is raised and makes contact with a defender, it can be called against the offense. And I guarantee you, when the elbow is thrown in the face of the defender, it will be called! I also saw it from the correct angle in the stands last night...it was the right call! I do agree with Knowitall that a 20 to 0 free throw differential in one half is absurd.

Here is a summary of the previous two games. Game 1 at Beechwood BW 49 - CCH 48 CCH led the whole game and was up six with 4 minutes left. Draud drained a 3 with 6 seconds left for the win. CCH Scoring: Disken – 14, Thelen – 12, Mayer – DNP BW Scoring: Draud – 16, Brannen – 11 (played with a bad ankle), Bieger – 10 Team Stats CCH: 38% from the field, 2 for 11 from deep, 24 rebounds BW: 47% from the field, 7 for 18 from deep, 18 rebounds Game 2 at Holmes BW 57 - CCH 53 CCH was up 12 in H1 and led until CCH gave BW a 4 point possession and the lead at around the 1 minute mark. Disken missed a free throw to tie it late and had to foul. Next CCH possession, down 3, CCH calls a timeout with 10 seconds left and designs a play in which they throw it to the post and go for 2 – which they missed. CCH Scoring: Disken – 7, Thelen – 16, Mayer –17 BW Scoring: Draud – 17, Schilling 14, Deathrage – 11 Team Stats CCH: 43% from the field, 3 for 8 from deep, 36 rebounds BW: 42% from the field, 8 for 18 from deep, 18 rebounds The difference in these games: Beechwood’s 3 point shooting. CCH’s poor shooting. Beechwood’s half court pressure on the point guards. CCH’s rebounding. BW’s late 4 point possession.

CCH needs to keep Thelen or Fleek on Draud and not let Disken guard him again. Beechwood needs to start Bieger and let him keep the pressure on Disken. Beechwood has great momentum and confidence. Outside shooting will win it for them whereas last night they focused more on driving ... Not sure why Mayer doesnt start as he is clearly a difference maker. He comes in almost immediately anyway when anyone makes a mistake. I also think Mosier is playing better than Davin and should get the start. It is anyone's game. The team with the best FG% will win! ;-)

I have a pic from Bob Jackson of your so called "phantom call." Miller clearly raises his elbow and forces it across the face of the CCH kid forcing him to fly through the paint. Tried to upload the pic but the file is too large. In college, it would have been considered flagrant!

Harding absolutely did not return to the game. Newport has another player with a similar build and height, he checked into the game...

WV won the first contest 49-43 but that was early in the season. Both teams have gotten noticeably better. Oldham cant shoot any better than they did last night. And WV can't be stopped if they have 3 guys get 18+. I am going with the Bearcats!

Yes, smack talk is part of many players' games. But yelling profanities at a student section with a ref between you does nothing to get in another player's head and is just ignorant. He deserevd the T! And kudos to Coach Sapp for honoring the school's rule.

In reading some BGP posts, apparently BW and CCH were both the benefactors of impartial 7th region refs - LOL. Who is going to get the whistle tonight? ;-) In all seriousness, both teams deserve to be where they are. Congrats! I believe CCH did it in '14, but how many times has a district runner up won the region?

My prediction is that JH loses Friday March 8 to the Region 8 winner.

It was an obvious and common profane comment (that I cannot repeat on BGP.) Something you would have expected from Harvey Weinstein but not a young man looking to win a basketball game. Unfortunately smack talk has been part of Hardings game for years but not sure what he gains from yelling profane sexual comments at a student section. The T was deserved! I hate to see the kid sit the rest of the game but good for Coach Sapp for enforcing the school's rule!

I was sitting opposite the players and this video. The video doesnt show it, but he clearly raised his elbow and pushed the CCH kid which is evident by the way he went flying through the paint!

I agree on the bad shots. BW forced several shots late in regulation which actually led to Cooper tying it up.

I support the life lesson too. Someone near us said it was a rule that he had to sit but I am not certain. It was unfortunate to see him sitting at the end of the bench away from his team mates. Honestly, Newport should have gotten T'd up earlier when a player blatantly pushed Thelen after a loose ball scrum. The ref saw it and talked to the the Newport player about it, but it should have been called ...

Nice win Tigers! I thought they were gong to give it away when they let Cooper take it to OT. Cooper's offense has struggled the past few weeks. IMO - Houston should've gotten the ball more often. And Spencer played too selfless all season. He is so good at getting into the lane but typically dished the ball. And honestly, he should have been posting up any Beechwood player guarding him. He is so quick and long but was under utilized. Good luck to the Cooper seniors in their next ventures!

This is slightly inaccurate. Beechwood only had 4 fouls until under 2 minutes left in OT. They fouled intentionally 3 times in the final minute of OT which gave them 7 total. I am sure this helps your argument a little more. But honestly, scoring 43 doesnt typically doesnt win ball games!

I would think these refs, who are from another region, would not want the big name program with consistent trips to Rupp to win. Nor would they want the states #1 team to win because they would be a threat to their home region teams ... Your logic seems a little off!

Did you read what I wrote? If it is purely based on wins earlier this year ...

This final 4 creates an interesting dynamic. If you look solely at wins from earlier this year: - Cooper would want Newport to beat CCH. - Beechwood would want CCH to beat Newport. - Newport would want Beechwood to beat Cooper. - CCH would want Cooper to beat Beechwood. These teams have bounced back and forth in the 9th region rankings all year! I firmly believe any of them can win both Friday and Saturday! I am going with Cooper playing CCH in the finals.

I think the opposite is true. When you take out two contenders, there is less chance it is anyone's game, and more likely going to the number one seed - Walton Verona! Go Bearcats!

Impressive team effort by the Wildcats! I feel like Cooper missed a few easy bunnies in Q3 when game was tied or close. Instead Newport hit their shots including 20 of 24 free throws on the night.

If you watch it frame by frame, the video literally shows he got it off with less than a millisecond to spare! WOW! Nice job Oldham!
