Whoa whoa. Breathe man. I'm a huge Kelsch fan. I think he's one of the top coaches in the Region without doubt. I have nothing against RC at all. I'm just saying you cant get blown out on your home court and then claim that nobody survives your home court. That's all it is.

Final per the KHSAA scoreboard. Real contrast in styles as Calvary came out in a FC man to man with 5 players 6'0 or smaller vs RCs big lineup.

So then... minus Macke... Heritage (a previously winless team) outscored Silver Grove 62-17...? Ouch!

How has the Meredith-less Scott team been looking in her absence?

Calvary's small in numbers, but big in heart. Good luck to both programs the rest of the way.

I have no knowledge about the closed-door operations of their program, but Meredith is shooting 52% while Secrist is shooting is at 45% from the floor. Meredith is averaging 13 shots per game vs Secrist's 8. I can understand the importance of a leadership hierarchy... but why shouldn't the most efficient shooters be shooting the most? Just seems like good logic.

I'd say Calvary is still the favorites. But nice home will for Ludlow.

The supporting casts are not really comparable. Outside of Macke, I'm not sure any of the Trains would start at Calvary.

Did he look gassed at all? 34 shots and 52pts can take a lot of energy out of a guy. There's a hungry and talented Calvary team headed over tonight. Rusch & Allen should put on a show.

He averaged 26.7ppg last year... AS A SOPHOMORE... Almost the entire starting lineup returns... AND THEIR 3 BEST ARE ONLY JUNIORS THIS YEAR. Put a bookmark on this team.

Brossart is d2 in NKAC so they'd have no requirement to play Villa, Ludlow, Dayton, Bellevue since those are d3. They also play Calvary but that would be a 37th District game obv.

Only reason Mason Rusch isnt in the Top 10 to watch is 1) He's sub 6 foot, 2) He plays at Calvary Christian. Talent-wise, he's definitely top 10.

Agreed. In general, seems like some of the coaches there are decently tenured.

Oh of course, its a big difference. But the point is, he's been around the program, the school and the kids, picking up slack and earning trust and respect. Those are the building blocks especially at a place like Calvary. And coupling trust and respect with a knowledge of the game is a good starting point. With any new hire, there will obviously be growing pains. But it sounds like he's coming into some good talent and guys who will work for him. And more than anything, Calvary needs coaches who care and stick around.

All due respects to Coach Brown, but in many ways, Coach Donaldson ran the show last year, just without the title of Head Coach. He ran roughly 1-2 practices a week with Coach Brown living in Lexington. Late in the season, Coach Brown was suspended for three games and Coach Donaldson went 3-0 in those games. I don't believe he has further experience as a Head Coach, but he did play Division 1 basketball with Derek Fisher at Arkansas Little-Rock. He also has a 7th grade daughter in the Girls Basketball program at Calvary, so he may hopefully plan to be around for a while.

From reliable sources, Coach Brown has stepped away from coaching to focus on his job and his kids in Lexington. Again, from reliable sources, Coach Brown resigned before the season and CC wished him the best. I personally know Coach Donaldson and the Cougars will be in very capable hands.
