Any truth to this?

Highlands now has 5 blowout wins, including blowouts over ranked 6A Simon Kenton and ranked 3A Lexington Catholic. What are Southwestern and South Oldham wins that justify a higher ranking? South Oldham also has a worse loss than Highlands. IMO the Birds should be #4.

100% depends how many of the injured SK guys recover from the Highlands game. 4 for 5 critical players went out agaibst the Birds. Will be a good game if they’re back. BW rolls SK if not.

Wasn’t it just a year ago folks were saying how the tradition at Highlands was done and would never be able to compete with Ryle again... My how things change in a year.

“Cannon” has been used all year. It’s acutally more of a push button explosive device used from the roof. Hollingsworth is a junior and HHS is dominating the JV games so far. He really impressed me last night. SK QB came in and struggled. When Hollingsworth came in he was very poised and marched right down the field for a TD. He has a HUGE arm for deep balls but what surprised me was his touch on the swing pass to Cooper out of the backfield.

Final. Birds JV continue to roll. I believ this is the closest game of the year for them.

Based on the photo, it should have been a TD to Ahfeld when they called him out of bounds. DWC Photo shows he was in.

You're right. Guys going out is a factor. Highlands D swarms to the ball, hits hard, and gang tackles. SK has a couple guys who are hard hitters to and I KNOW if they would have been knocking Birds out of the game left and right with hard hits, your posts would have been how Highlands can't match the size strength of SK. Maybe the Birds D is just more physical and aggressive than you want to believe. On the yard comment. Highlands special teams won the field position battle. SK had to drive the ball 75-85 yards on almost every drive because of the Birds solid special teams. The Birds didn't have to move it that far on their drives. Special teams matter.

Yep... It was said on the preview thread. Highlands special teams and D will be the difference. Some teams loose points on special teams. Highlands always picks up a score and great field position. That matters in games.

I disagree. SK is a good team. They certainly aren't a top 5 6A team, but they are a good football team. They are exactly where they always are. A top 5 NKY team. Maybe it's time people start actually saying Highlands can beat GOOD teams. It's getting pretty old.

You are right. Offense struggled and HHS still won THAT big! It speaks volumes for the team and that is what great teams do. They pick up the other side when one isn't clicking. Can you imagine the score if both sides were rolling? Big win Birds. Birds D came to play... A BIG game on the SK side for JJ Courtney. That guy can play. He is impressive. and a GREAT showing by Hollingsworth when he needed to come in and play QB for the Birds.

Yes, they can beat 6A schools. I'm talking about the top 6A. The ones who SK wants to compare to and be ranked with. Male, Trinity, Scott County, Fred Doug, St. X. Beechwood wouldn't touch any of them within 28 pts. And there is no reason why they should. If they played all of those schools they would go 0-5 most years. Maybe pull out a win every now and then. Again, no shame in that.

Even if SK beats Beechwood by7-10 pts, it's still not a good win IMO. A 6A school should never pride itself on beating a 1A school. If SK dominates Beechwood and wins by 28+, it's an impressive win. Any of the Big 6A powers would handle Beechwood easily.

Receivers weren't getting separation early, but the passing game started clicking in the second half. When I think of that game, I'm still amazed at the catch Jolly had for CC. Play of the year in NKY.

I remember some pressure in that first half, but not many sacks. Maybe 1 or 2 ??? Am I wrong? 2nd half I think he stayed clean.

I believe each game the past 3 years have been decided by 2 points or less. I expect another great one next week. I really like seeing these two schools feeding strong talent in the pipeline.

Any stats on how many times has Cramer been sacked this year for HHS? No one that I can recall has put pressure on him. O-line and backs picking up the blitz have done a nice job in pass protection. I honestly don't recall him taking a big hit so far this year.

Curious from SK fans. What do you think SK has to do to win this one? What can't happen? Would love to hear from people who have actually seen them play this year.

I think we'll know more after Cov Cath plays Highlands and South Warren plays Bowling Green.

Yep, Again they had 4 straight bad possessions. I don't think 4 possessions against Scott County will have anything to do with the game against Simon Kenton. Look at the full body of work this year, not one quarter.

True, Highlands had 4 bad possessions against Scott County. Game was called with 3 minutes left in the second. I wouldn’t let 4 possessions determine how good or bad a team is. A couple incomplete passes don’t hit the ground and it’s a different story. Not saying Highlands would have won, but saying those 22 yards don’t reflect how good they are.
