  1. I would love to see that scoring margin next to a strength of schedule...
  2. Fluke win against SK? Depth is part of the game. Especially for a 6A school with 90 players. Having to put in a Frosh QB is not HHS's fault. It shows a lack of talent/depth for a 6A team. If a 1 or 2 A school has a guy go down, I get them having to bring a Soph or Frosh in. If a 6A school has a QB get hurt, it's sad the next guy up is a 9th grader. In fact, HHS QB went out that game too. But the Jr. QB came in, marched right down the field, and scored a TD. That type of depth matters. HHS has forced a lot of "fluke" plays... Or maybe they just have a good D.
  3. What was the difference in the Henry Clay team Cov Cath crushed and then the Henry Clay team that destroyed Scott County? Do they have a major strength/weakness that allowed those 2 games to play out so differently? Or do you just chalk the inconsistency up to high school kids being high school kids.
  4. Buten is a very quick sophomore in HS. No doubt Mayer is a GREAT high school linebacker. I'm just saying NFL DE quickness is a whole different thing. His game/body is better suited at TE. Not a knock on him at all. Just saying where he fits best.
  5. I don't think he has the speed to be a DE at the NFL level. Those guys are just on another level. He certainly has the frame and skill to be a TE at any level. The sky is the limit for him.
  6. I think most expected big yards from McGinness. I don't know how much CCH was looking at the sophomore from HHS to do anything though. It's really the first time he got more than 4-5 carries in a game. For him to do that against a VERY GOOD CCH D was more than impressive. Both had great games. I think one just caught people by surprise.
  7. Smith was recruited to play both football and basketball for UK. Decided to not play basketball to focus on football and went on to be named All SEC at TE. Pretty tough to top that. see article below. Derek Smith To Concentrate On Football - University of Kentucky
  8. I have a feeling if Cov Cath played Male and Fred Doug, they'd go 0-2.
  9. The Birds have been pretty much the same team all year. They are very good defensively. They can give up yards, but are VERY hard to score on, especially in the 2nd half. They make GREAT half time defensive adjustments. They have GREAT special teams and most games dominate the field position battle. When clicking, they have great offensive weapons. They are quiet for a series or two but can strike on a big play at any time. The increased usage of Buten on O is a BIG step in the right direction. If you ever see a backfield package of Buten and Huddy, watch out. I feel sorry for whoever is on the receiving end of that lead blocker.
  10. The future isn't looking too bright for Campbell County.
  11. Interesting rankings. I guess Ram predicts Southwestern and South Oldham would both keep CCH below 21 points and keep it closer than 7? Still no love for the Birds this year. It will play itself out in the playoffs. I said it from the start of the year. BG, SW in the west. CCH and HHS up north. Everyone else is a clear notch below those 4.
  12. Absolutely agree! Unbelievable for any age. The fact he's a 10th grader... Wow!
  13. Interesting coming from the guy who wondered why anyone would dare to think Highlands had a chance. This game played out exactly as I thought. Highlands D is just as good as CCH. For Highlands to win, they had to win the turnover battle. They didn't. That was the difference. CCH scored on 1 true drive. The others coming from less than 10 yard fields because of HHS turnovers. CREDIT CCH. They capitalized on the turnovers and that was the difference. Many things could have gone other ways like dropped balls, close 4th downs, and fake punts, but at the end of the day, those are all part of the game. Here is the truth. Very few on here believed HHS would compete. Many on here called for running clocks in the 3rd. I TOLD YOU these kids at HHS BELIEVE they can play and beat anyone. It showed tonight. I was very impressed with McGuiness. He carried the team and was the only thing CCH had. It's going to be interesting come playoffs.
  14. Actually HHS has forced 22 turnovers this year. Currently giving up just over 12 pts per game.
  15. Most recent stats directly off the KHSAA Statewide Leaderboard. Team Scoring: Cov Cath #1 Highlands #11 Team Defense Highlands #6 Cov Cath #7 Rushing Leaders #2 McGinness CCH #18 Schwalbach HHS Passing Leaders #4 Jacob CCH #8 Cramer HHS Receiving Leaders #4 Coldiron CCH #7 Mayer CCH #8 Roberts HHS #10 Ahfeld HHS
  16. Being able to move the ball, and being able to score on a team are two different things. I think this is another low scoring game. First team to 20 wins.
  17. Interesting that the list is so long but between the years of 77-90 there were none.
