Simple, 6 classes is too many! Every team should not make the playoffs. Play 11 weeks 1-11 and only allow top 2 seeds to advance. AND make hudl public, I have read all games will be streamed by 2020, let KY be the innovators on this issue. All current problems solved...

Wonder why there is a weekly thread about the lack of success? Looks like you alums need to roll up your sleeves, the constant griping doesnt appear to be helping the situation. I feel bad for the kids at Highlands, standards have been set that they cant live up to!

High school kids man... The kids at highlands are kids, playing a game. Their coach has a solid argument as to why he did what he did. Which is why he has not been suspended for violating rules. Lets keep this in perspective KIDS, probably not a single kid on that roster that dished out those butt whoopings that ignited your hatred for their program.

This is a thread discussing flaws in the KHSAA playoff system, you chose to exclude 1A to strengthen your argument. So the fact that Highlands had success in the past, justifies them only having 10 films while their opponent has 11? Not sure anyone will buy that logic. The rule actually reads last 2 must be exchanged, but this situation seems like extenuating circumstances.

Go look at 1A. 3 team districts, its a mess with playoff byes. I guess I failed to read that 1A wasnt included in this discussion of KHSAA playoff system as a whole

Any coach who only has 10 films on an opponent and is considering sending their opponent an 11th film which could arguably give the other team a competitive advantage? Glad BW has his kids back tbh!

All of the film on hudl should be public period, if anything for recruiting purposes. Everyone gets film on everyone, including those teams in NKY who refuse to send because of their obligation to the NKY coaches association. Everyone trades the last 2 games all season and other teams have those games. To my understanding if you do not exchange, it is not KHSAA but the KFCA who deals out punishment, such as possible suspensions. Who wants to bet South Oldham got the film anyway? On the issue of bye’s in the playoffs, it needs to be fixed. If you have to give out bye’s then make the teams earn them, possibly the #1 overall seed in the each bracket and so on. Cant believe Julian chose to take shots Weinrich, how about just accept responsibility for a flawed system.

Tyrese is a DL commit to WVU. Bruce Tall has personally been in Paintsville multiple times recruiting Tyrese. They are very excited to have him based on what Ive heard, the film shows why.

WVU commit Tyrese Allen has had a phenomenal season at Paintsville! Tyrese is 6’4” 295lbs and has carried the load for Paintsville on both sides of the ball in 2017. Tyrese has 90 carries for 724 yds rushing with 14 TDs. Some of the first clips on his highlight linked below show why he has been such a force on the offensive side of the ball also in 2017. Teams do not run at the 2 way starter on defense, he continues to be a force to be reckoned with there also with his size/strength/quickness! Paintsville has played without a couple starters on both sides of the ball the last couple weeks. Will be exciting to see what they look like when they get everyone back on field! Bracken has a good team. After the way Paintsville's run ended in 2015 and 2016, I can't see them overlooking anyone! Hazard and Paintsville have really good size up front for 1A teams. Not sure that Bracken Co has seen anyone with a DL big/fast like the Tigers.

Crazy things happen at Nicholas Co, it is a tough place to go play for sure! Wasn't trying to slight Paris in any way. Can they beat Raceland is the question?

Chirico has a daughter on the volleyball team who is a senior, and a good player. Coach Kinner's wife is the head volleyball coach. Paintsville was flawless on both sides of the ball in the first half. 2nd half Paintsville's JV who are mostly freshman, played like they did the 2nd half at Fairview. How was the Paris vs Nicholas game 13-6?

Players! Lots of average coaches are remembered as great, due to the fact they had a really talented team.

Pikeville had 78 total yards of O according to khsaa.org. Just being honest im not sure that is as competitive as most would like you to think. The Paintsville D is as good as any in class A, they have 2 kids on that D with D1 offers, and the LB play is as good as I have ever seen with Keeton/Richmond/Daniels/Meade.

Coach Chirico’s daughter plays volleyball at PHS as a senior, their team plays in state vball tourney Friday in Louisville at 12:30. NCHS was nice enough to accomodate Coach Chirico, so that he can support his daughter.

Could not agree more. Pikeville in 1A has improved as much as anyone, I think they can challenge Hazard! Paintsville has a freshman Q who has played 9 high school games now. So I think lots of teams have plugged in the right personnel etc and gotten better. Personally I would like to see Paintsville - Hurricane now. Im sure Hurricane has improved but Paintsville got more guys involved on O and has made them harder to defend. Paintsville’s defense, aside from about 5 big pass plays, has been as good as you will see! Again for fun an Ashland-Paintsville series would be a good one. The Q at Ashland grew up in Paintsville’s feeder program, would make for an interesting storyline for sure. The “little” cousin of the current Q, who is an 8th grader at Ashland, is gonna be a stud also!

Who knows? Paintsville has a new super, I could see them signing that contract now. Cant imagine what the atmosphere would be like!

I dont see anyone beating Danville, their speed is incredible!

For fun... Can you make a case that Paintsville should be ranked higher than Ashland/JC? Paintsville beat Hazard who beat Harlan Co who beat Ashland. Paintsville arguably handled Raceland better than Ashland. Raceland beat Greenup Co worse than Ashland. A little harder to justify on the JC end, but Ashland beat them. How much fun would JCHS/Paintsville have been this year? Maybe the first time it would have been a good game in a long time if the game was played.

Rankings look much better this week! Waggener has won 4 games. I dont know how a win over them proves anything? Sure they have a ton of talent, but how good of a team are they at .500 with all that talent? To be honest I think Pikeville and Hazard better than Raceland. Pikeville’s record makes them hard to rank any higher, just an opinion. I would guess a lot of teams rest main players this week in order to prepare for playoff runs.

I agree with all of that. Beechwood should be the 1. Paintsville has a strong case, maybe even moreso if they can get a win at Fleming who just won their district. I think the gap is not as wide East vs Beechwood, as some may think. The top 3 or 4 in East have beaten teams from all classes. The playoffs guarantee to be exciting!
