Wow! I didn’t think I’d see this.

I’m not one to overly critique coaches I have too much respect for them but those in the stands I do have a question. It seems this team is too talented to be losing games like this. Is coaching the issue or is it something else?

The 3 is the great equalizer

These polls are pointless. Coaches obviously don’t vote consistently anymore. The ones who do vote seem to have a vendetta against each other. Cov cath is 1 or 2. No way Newport should be ahead of Holmes. Scott at 9 is a joke.

We will see what Ryle is made of the first two weeks of January when they face Boone, Dixie, Beechwood, Holmes, and Highlands.

Thanks for your hardwork on this but disagree with your assessment of the top 10. Tier 1 1. Covington Catholic - they are the class of the region right now. 2. Cooper - not too far behind Cov Cath but their offense is way behind them. Tier 2 3. NCC - able to score but their Strength of Schedule is very low. 4. Holmes - showing more scoring ability this year than last season. 5. Newport - tough team with probably the most underrated player in the state in Burries. Tier 3 6. Beechwood - Toebe is a load and Draud can fill it up. 7. Ryle - Rankin is tough but their SOS is very low and their only loss has come against their only quality opponent. 8. Boone County - Ethan Haynes needs to get more opportunities to score but they will be tough in the 33rd. 9. Lloyd - new coach is doing a good job with losing as many pieces as they did. 10. Holy Cross - 3-ball will always make them a threat for an upset of the teams in the 2nd and 3rd Tiers.

Lack of discipline and leadership. This is an outsiders point of view but they were not very disciplined last year and this led to multiple suspensions of players and a 12-17 season.

Muskie is a typical homer. He wants everyone to play Cov Cath's schedule regardless if it benefits the team or even if that team has the ability to get a schedule like theirs. It wouldn't benefit Beechwood to play Moeller, LaSalle, or Lexington Catholic at the beginning of the season. Beechwood wasn't nor have they ever been invited to play in the KOB. I'd argue that the tournament their in at Lexington Christian has a decent field and is at the level Beechwood should play against. Muskie don't judge a team's schedule based on your team's schedule. Different agendas. Also, I would love to see Cov Cath schedule more Kentucky teams rather than the GMC schools every year. Why not play St. Xavier or Trinity instead?

Holmes should win this one going away but I predict a close one. This Holmes team should be a contender for a top 3 spot in NKY. Something holds them back.

Kentucky kids can't attend camps or showcases during the school year either. Dumbest thing I've ever heard of. How does this create a competitive advantage for certain schools or harm the kid?

With scrimmages starting this week, we are finally getting closer to the real fun.

Hard to think the 32nd is more than a 2-team battle and with that said WV is head and shoulders above SK. Steiner is going to have to prove his mettle as a coach to win the district this year...maybe he'll prove some doubters wrong in the process.

That's a terrible observation. His ranking is based on his impact now not what he "might" be in college. He would definitely not dominate in high school or else he would rebound more and score more on putbacks. This kid is talented, though I don't see what Mack and Xavier see, and has been a good high school player but is ranked where he should be. His impact was minimal last year.

He may be in the Newport school district still just not at the HS. Shame some of these talented kids don't take the school side of things more serious. Hollis would have made Newport or Holmes a serious contender with Cooper and Cov Cath.

Heard from a Newport coach that he's not enrolled at Newport anymore.

My point with the parents is that they were instrumental is the moving on from two previous coaches. Most of that had to do with a select few parents but they were the most vocal of the group of parents. Ryle parents don't like to be 2nd best at anything. That's not a bad thing but it tends to create problems for coaches and administrators.

I know this is out of left field but I was curious as to the other Boone County schools that you would think could compete with Cooper in the 33rd. Over the last four years: Boone County - 49-69 Conner - 56-53 Ryle - 45-70 Cooper - 86-31 Do you think any of the other coaches are feeling heat? Ryle is a tough place to not succeed at with their parents. Boone County should have talent and athletes every year. I am just surprised that no team can push Cooper. It is worse if you look at the 35th. Covington Catholic - 121-21 Holy Cross - 53-61 Holmes - 76-44 Beechwood - 51-59 NKY is in need of some change but that's just my opinion.

Since this is top 10 in the region...how is it that Holmes has fallen off so far since their run in the early part of the 2000s? Booher left and then the wheels fell off.
