  1. My point is those players you mention are not skilled enough to be on a varsity roster in the first place. You are merely filling spots because of limited numbers. And, yes, it would have been state championship caliber teams in football and boys basketball. Now we do not have such lofty goals, can't compete with Trinity, St. Xavier, in football. Same with others in basketball. Had Oldham County expanded its campus with more buildings, Oldham could have been up there with any school in the state. Players who were barely good enough to be JV players who ended up starting at two new schools was not the intention, it was because of overcrowding in the building.
  2. It also causes most of the problems when problems should not exist. If it's a money issue, that's fine. Just don't say the kids love it as a reason they play there. It sounds like the 9th Region leaders sold their souls to the money devils, and they are paying a price by hurting their fans with expensive parking, not allowing something as harmless as signs or posters, etc. I am glad in the 8th Region we don't have those issues at Henry County.
  3. The poster said Oldham, not South Oldham. I agree with the poster about Oldham County's defense, very good.
  4. Yeah, Male really laid an egg the other night and is now forced to play at Trinity. I would say they have little chance at Trinity. Lack of focus killing Male this season at key points in games. I thought they would win the region, but I have to back off it now. I would say Trinity does win this game over Male.
  5. Sounds like it has nothing to do with the kids, just money.
  6. I will ask again: Are the fans allow to stand and cheer in this arena? lol
  7. I think you and me are on the same page, they need to take the 9th Region back to Holmes and Conner on a rotation basis like years and years ago. It sounds like the current 9th Region tournament has a lot of issues!
  8. I like this better than the Lit. Trinity is too high, and I think Doss should be in over Bullitt East.
  9. Madison Central last month. They looked like a solid team, not a No. 1 team at all.
  10. Is it true they also tried to prevent the media in the 9th Region from using laptops in the arena because they were afraid they might give live updates? That is absurd if correct!
  11. I did not say Oldham County should be in it. I would argue Owen County needs to be much higher in fact. No question Christian County and Bowling Green are not getting enough "computerized respect" in these ratings. The BGP poll is much more objective and knowledgable than this database generated stuff. I saw Covington Catholic play one time this season and thought they have a solid team. But not even close to being No. 1 in the state.
  12. Unless South Oldham makes at least 15 three-pointers, I believe Owen County wins it, 71-63. I think South Oldham will defend Carson Williams differently in this one, possibly denying the entry passes by fronting him and daring Owen County to lob underneath. But Owen County has too many weapons, and South Oldham will need an exceptional shooting performance to win this one at Henry County. Now I will admit that South Oldham is one of the few teams in the state that has enough shooters to possibly knock down 15 three-pointers against a team as good as Owen County. But Oldham County defended the Dragons on the perimeter to perfection in the 29th District championship last week, and I am afraid it might have left a blueprint for others to see with their switching off screens and pressuring the shooters.
  13. For Christian County and Bowling Green to be ranked so low makes these ratings laughable. I could see why Dunbar is so high, but not Covington Catholic. At least we will see it settled on the court in the next few weeks!
  14. No one would have been denied anything. It would have allowed our football team to have a two-platoon system with lots of depth, something all three schools have struggled with. No one gets cut from the football team. Now for basketball, it would have made it a situation where the talent was top notch for varsity, reserve, freshmen. Yes, a few players with limited ability might have been eliminated from playing varsity. But Oldham County would have been at a level to compete for state titles, something that is not true in the present situation.
  15. There is no such rule in place for KHSAA members. Unlikely the 9th Region has such a rule unless there was an incident that caused it.
  16. It sounds like that arena might require everyone to wear a suit and tie to the games. No fun allowed. lol
  17. Is it true the people in that arena tried to ban live updates via twitter so people would come to the 9th Region games a few years ago? I read it on another thread in this forum and couldn't believe it!
  18. They are missing them left and right down here in the 8th Region, and I here the same up there in the 9th. The third ref in many cases, and I've watched numerous games, is simply not needed. My friends at Walton tell me the other night the blatantly wrong technical foul that was called at the end was the result of an official we all know in the 8th Region who should not be on the floor anytime. But because of the shortage of decent officials and the 3-man crews, there are tons of people officiating who should not be in a JV or freshman game. I played when there were two officials, and granted that was 43-44 years ago. Yes, there were some missed calls at times. But I never recall so many blatant calls being made that are unnecessary. I talk with coaches all the time and they, almost to a man, wish there were 2-man crews. Plus as I said before, our school system down here in Oldham County is looking at making budget cuts and ways to save. You cut out a third official for an entire season, that's a pretty good chunk of change for every school. Just an opinion.
  19. 100% agree with you. They should go back to the two officials. They will save a lot of money by just using two as well. All I hear about is we need to save money, we need to cut this, find a way to cut some finances. This is one easy step, and it will make the game better. I go back to the two officials in college basketball, and that was a better game as well.
  20. I admit confusion to this. So you can bring a giant photo, but you can't have a group of students at the 9th Region get together and spell their school's name like O-L-D-H-A-M with posters or sign paper? That may be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. It's high school basketball!
  21. Are the fans allowed to cheer loudly? lol Just joking with that one. I had to.
  22. I've seen posters and signs wishing their teams good luck and the photos you mentioned. Seems like a weird rule for a high school regional tournament.
  23. I looked at the girls basketball 9th Region drawing and one of the posters said the fans are not allowed to bring signs to the game. Is this correct for the boys as well? If so, why? I never heard of this in the 8th Region.
  24. No worse, no better than usual this year. My one argument would be to go back to two officials. I see too many guys just lagging around and not needed. It's overkill in high school. There are not enough competent officials in the first place, and three-man crews just shorten the list.
  25. Owen County can hurt teams in a number of ways. You can not just leave their perimeter players open, or they will bury the shots. South Oldham needs a big effort defensively on everyone, not just Williams. As I said earlier, I would front Carson and deny all entry passes to him on the post. If they want to try and lob over the defender who is denying the ball, I would risk it. In high school, most players are not skilled at lobs over fronting defenders.
