    One of my buddies up in N.Ky. attended the second game last night in that arena and described the atmosphere as "tomb-like, only more depressing" even though CovCath had a decent student turnout. I saw the pics and it is a sad sight. And don't feel bad about lawildcat and her comments. She is part of the Elite clique here at BGP. That clique probably all gets together at BGP Headquarters and discusses how to torment those of us in Steerage every day. lol

    It sounds like to me there is the clique of the Elite, and the rest of us are Steerage here aboard the RMS Bluegrasspreps. I never go to a movie because it is too expensive! Some of us have budgets to just get by with big families. But some of the Elite clique here on BGP apparently have a lot of money to shell out to the greed machines.

    Number 1, I'm an Oldham County fan, not Owen County. If you had read my posts you would have known it. Number 2, I've seen a lot of snarky comments by you toward other posters. You seem to have some I'm better than you mentality because you like Covington Catholic in many of them. Number 3, if ONE person is complaining in this thread, there are 20 or 30. NOT ME. I ASKED A QUESTION ABOUT SIGNS IN THE ARENA NOT BEING ALLOWED. What I have discovered is there are a number of people up your way who are not happy with the regional being in said arena. If you disagree, fine.

    LIKE! Your post is 100% correct! The atmosphere of a packed gym, not a half-filled mausoleum, is the best experience for high school players. But don't tell that to the elite of BGP and their clique of pro-big arena and smallish crowd mentality.

    Congratulations for playing in front of 100 fans in a 10,000 seat arena. Glad the experience is so wonderful.

    You are correct about cliques at BGP, lawildcat, ukmustang, MentschTrachtGottLacht, etc. They could care less it appears about good people getting ripped off by an arena, then they call people whiners and names instead of intelligently discussing the points. If the players (girls especially) are content to play in from of 9,000 + empty seats, let it be so. Seeing the photos from last night's CovCath-Newport game, it looked like a big empty tomb. The arena looks like it's 3/4 empty. What a sad situation. Meanwhile at Henry County, 5,000+ fans, packed gym, great atmosphere. But some people like their cozy, comfy seats and plenty of leg room. lol

    I'm with you. It's just "POSTERS" like the guy above continues to want to spew against Carson Williams, and I really believe he is going to be a great college player. But you are correct. South Oldham's ability to play four guards and a small forward last night was great strategy. They fronted Carson at times, threw in some double teams, did a good job of making it a perimeter game which favored them greatly. I thought South Oldham attacked the basket effectively even though Owen County is much taller inside. Snook's three-pointers in the fourth quarter were as clutch of shots in a big game as you will see. Great win for South Oldham, sets up a very interesting semifinal for them against Collins.

    6th Region is bad this year. If DeSales wins it, a 20-loss team in Rupp. The 9th Region is okay, but Owen County could have won it up there this year.

    Since I recruited Barkley in Leeds, Ala., and you probably were not born, let me tell you Charles was in no way a better leaper than Williams is right now. Barkley was just 6-4 as a senior, lots of baby fat, and very aggressive. He was explosive, yes, but you have not watched Carson Williams enough to know how he jumps. The 9th Region is basically CovCath and Holmes, nothing else. Any of the other schools might sneak into the state now and then, but that's all. From looking at threads elsewhere it appears the 9th has so many issues (schools calling out others for cheating, recruiting, etc.) we don't have to deal with down here, I'll settle for no state titles and peace. And, no, pre 1981 counts as part of the 9th Region history just like the rest of us. Now go back to class, study hard, and maybe you'll get to go to college one day.

    The 6th Region is bad this year, see DeSales and their 20 losses as proof. DeSales might win the thing, two wins away. The 7th Region is great, not the 6th. The 9th is always so-so when it comes to the state. Yes, Holmes and CovCath have carried their banner for two state titles. Simon Kenton won a state in 1981 but they're in the 8th now. But before 1981, the 9th NEVER won a state title. The it took them another 2o something years to do it again. Not a powerful region most years.

    You're the biggest whiner on this forum, with the biggest keyboard muscles of all-time. People are saying they are not going. That arena is ripping off the public, and said public is responding. You counter by calling them names from behind the safety of your phone/computer. I would say you are the weasel whiner!

    You have no idea what you are talking about, but you demonstrate that with each post you make. I've coached in college and can assure you Williams can play at any level of Division I. Your absurd notion about "not being tall enough to guard a 4 or 5" shows your ignorance since you probably are not aware Charles Barkley was 6-5 at Auburn and dominated the SEC and later became an NBA all-star. Carson Williams right now has better leaping ability than Barkley did as a senior in high school and is mud more polished offensively. But talking to a Carson hater, which there are many on this forum including you, is like trying to explain the quadratic equation to a group of kindergartners.

    Once again congrats to Owen County and South Oldham for putting on an epic display in the 8th Region Tournament! The fans were treated to a great game and we look forward to more of the same tonight!
