Jacob is a wonderful young man and this had to be a tough decision for him. I'm sure he also loves basketball. Protecting his athletic ability for a scholarship, after running so well at state, is a very mature decision for someone so young. I know he has the support from his Mom and Dad in his decision. Use it or lose it. The button works for everyone, I just got tired of trying to convince you that it hurts the communities. This discussion and the situation with the seeding has no connection to the game these young people take to the area of competition. These teams will not be playing during the season, All A tourney and District aside. Our communities will be the losers.

No, this is not a good example to set for young people, community does mean something. These schools have always pulled for one another in tournaments. I remember one year the BCHS cheerleaders put up a large banner that said this way to state during regional play for one of the district teams that was in regional play. Why is that spirit not there now? It takes more than sports to raise a citizen, there's compassion, support, helping out your fellow man in times of need, sympathy and prayers and fundraisers during illness or accidents. And education, many of the athletes from District schools have excelled academically and received scholarships and not all were sports related, but if their time allowed they might try to be a walk on since they love sports or join an intramural league team. A lot of these young people are friends and some are cousins. And no, as families, we do not like it. And yes, it is what it is until someone blinks. Not good for anyone.

I don't have any idea if you have always lived in Bracken County, but I have. Born, raised, educated and raised my family and run a business. These games do matter, maybe not as instant gratification but in memory and friendship. This is NOT just about those two sports, it's about the entire community. Maybe there needs to be a poll. I don't know where you get that Augusta and St. Patrick don't care about playing those two sports. The A boys and St. P girls looked very happy. Not much in your important picture but happiness in their own. I do agree with you on one thing, they need to be able to field teams and play more games. I know it must be hard with such small schools. But each one of those kids who suit up on game day are there to try to contribute to their school.

There's a lot of alumni, maybe old school style that do not like any of this. I keep telling you all that it hurts the community. Every time I see games with bad press on the news, the teams and parents are all involved and angry. I think these games have been so good for our communities, they have always been intense rivalries yet displayed good sportsmanship. As a parent, do you not make responsible choices for what is best in life for your child? Your children aren't old enough to realize the lasting importance of commitment to their neighbors, and I'm not talking only sports. And fundraisers are more supported rival crowds ( and vice versa) like Augusta and St. Pat, these people all are intertwined by community, schools, church or families. We always support one another in times of crisis. Guys, these games are more than sports.

1. I said your excuses about not being responsible for your part in this was pathetic because we all know how it started. Currently, it is in your lap because your statements made it so, I know ADs are not on here for any questions. So, I think this will work itself out over the next 4 years anyway, and all this acrimony will be left. And my county, school, relatives and friends will be left with this separation of not playing home and away games with schools that have worked together for years. Hopefully it will not come to pass. 2. Why would the AIS and SPS want to come to your school when their respective schools have already been insulted by you or at least it appears that way on here? 3. You have been on here for months about this seeding versus the draw, and I suggested then that you get together a lawful proposal and take it to the KHSAA for changes. Short of that it goes back to each school's administration and ADs to discuss. 4. And for the record, I'm not bashing my alma mater which currently has my relatives playing varied sports, I'm trying to keep it from making a big mistake. This will not be good for any of these young people. And it makes BCHS sound like a bully and my nine brothers and sisters graduated from BCHS and I and many other alumni do not like this either. I'm loyal to my school and know every word of the Alma Mater " Morning Sun Greets Many Banners" and can sing it still. Do you? And this situation needs to be settled without these cancelled games.

How pathetic are your excuses, there it is "your hands out palms up". "Not me, I had no part in this." If a guest doesn't think your home is esteemed enough to visit, how can a guest feel welcome there? Fellow BGPer I know there's no hate coming from AIS or SPS, those schools do not operate that way and neither did the BCHS that I cheered for and graduated from. This is not out of your hands and it falls squarely into your lap. And it is up to the BCHS administration to stop this immediately, this is a terrible situation for all these students.

And who created this unfortunate situation? These cross county young people and the Saints young people are the losers all the way around because adults are putting themselves first. This isn't supposed to be about bragging rights for adults. I live in Bracken Co. always have and I hate this. It's nothing in the summer, to see teams of young people at playgrounds from area high schools all mixed onto the teams. And they look like they are enjoying the games. I don't want this to carry over and cause hard feelings because they think that is what the adults expect of them. I do not care if it is seeded or draw, and I hope no scholarships were lost as a result, I just don't want it to carry over to friendships made through the years. Augusta and St. Patrick are ultra competitive during the district this year but I heard after the game these guys were in a huddle talking as friends. At graduation, these athletes excelled in academics, I think I counted 10 or more athletes in this district as Valedictorians and Salutatorians and also receiving full college scholarships. Millions of dollars offered for scholars. And some of these rival athletes will now be attending the same college. You adults need to think about what you are creating.

I heard someone say, I think they were talking about high schools, when the pitcher has reached his pitch count, he is removed and his starting catcher also. Since the catcher had just as many pitches. Not that knowledgeable about current rules since Papaw and I coached about 100 years ago. Just curious.

O.K. I'm absurd. I truly do feel badly for all the athletes entwined in this, heck a lot of them are relatives. But for goodness sakes, it's a baseball game not a 7 hour back surgery. My best to all the seniors in the district. May you make good choices and be successful in your careers.

I truly hope that is coming from the disappointment of the moment. This participation ribbon or trophy idea thing came along way past when Papaw and I coached. I'm a B.C.H.S. graduate and I don't like the discord that is being planted amongst all these young people and our county. Adults made this mess, they need to correct it for the good of everyone. Take it to the K.H.S.A.A.

Like I said earlier, the ownership of Triple Crown winner Secretariat was decided by the toss of a coin. Entitled is not the right word, they played their scheduled game and won. They advance. Papaw and I know well, young people and parents on all four district teams. A lot of time and practice and money is invested in these athletes. It's heartbreaking to see their expressions but this decision was made long ago. What is really hard to see is when an athlete devotes his or her own money into a camp especially for their position, works hard to achieve their goals and then have points negated by an official making a call 1.That isn't his to make. 2. Who has a personal interest in the outcome of the game. But the official is always right. Don't blame these young people, they're just happy in the moment. Deal with decision making adults, get something legal organized and take it to the K.H.S.A.A. Have this mess decided once and for all and live with the consequences. However, life is not always fair and you will never have a level playing field for all.

There are lots of Protestant children attending Catholic schools. True, tuition can be pricey but those parents like the school's structured system with emphasis on learning and not some of the disarray that public schools must deal with. I found your question about "special" classes(how to put word to my thought) kind of puzzling. Those theology type classes, I think, are a great outlet for young people to try to work through questions in their adolescent minds about the world they're about to step into, a situation the public schools can never put in their curriculum. And those classes are weighted just as heavy as any class toward their G.P.A.
