  1. Makes me feel better. Makes me feel like the Rams were capable of being the team many of us thought they were in the preseason.
  2. Same start Paintsville had last week...
  3. This thread alone speaks volumes about everything that is Highlands Football. Absolutely remarkable program and it seems that no matter who was at the helm they found success. Speaks alot to the players they have had over the years. "The Golden Standard" within our state when it comes to football. Trinity has the same appeal to me. But something about Highlands, puts them as the number 1 all time program, imo.
  4. One thing can neutralize speed, that's opposing speed and physicality. Paintsville is big upfront, but they are mobile as well. Paintsville has good speed at RB and WR, but they have physicality as well. Paris has speed all over the field, but their LOS, imo, will not be able to hang for 4 quarters with Paintsville. I said in the preseason, and I still think that the region resides in the Raceland district, though its not who i had hoped and expected it to be. Paintsville rolls after a dogfight in the first half. Tigers 42 Hounds 21
  5. Who is scooby doo? "Gimme the ape tit thing for 600" Classic stuff. Think this thread has run its course. Way off the topic of the game thanks to the hijacking of a lowly spur of the moment Iggle Fan. Eagles got us this year, no doubt, cherish it buddy. It wont happen again for awhile.
  6. He has still het to gove any legit reason as to why Raceland will be down. He must be from the era of Fairview football that included the "here today gone tomorrow, bc all i do is win win win" type of players. The ones that were a far cry from the stand up and stick it out kids that Fairview had on the roster this year. Fred Ray is a good coach and great guy, I think he will continue doing things the right way and get numbers up. As for Raceland v Russell, the soph-senior classes have had some great ball games over the years and next year will be no different, same goes for Greenup. Its the same old same old...win one game and there goes the neighborhood for some fans. I'll argue facts, stats, and even opinions (as long as they are supported by those two things). Raceland could not replace Young, Messer, and Dixon, especially in the secondary, and it showed. How does Fairview expect to replace Roy and Washington?
  7. Fairview had to pull 6th graders up to field jr high teams. Their numbers are down almost 50% in the Ray era compared to the McPeek's. That is primarily due to the circumstances of rebuilding a program. But if you have to pull elementary kids to field a Jr High team (Raceland could have scored 100 points if they wanted in the jr high match ups this year against the eagles), the Fairview Jv had vastly smaller numbers than Raceland's (racelands jv dresses at or around 30 if im not mistaken) and Raceland will return all but 1 WR, a RB, an ATH, center, 2 gaurds, a safety and a LB and a safety. It will be the next man up as always. Fairview will lose a Div 1-esk QB, a D3 or little lower maybe WR, a RB, handful of lineman, a majority of the secondary and LBs. please explain to me how Fairview is on the rise and Raceland is on a downward trend. Eagleboy, You opened up a can of worms bud. And Mad Eagle, we wont let one apple spoil the bunch. Dont worry.
  8. Unless its been changed there certainly is. Just ask coach Mike Salmons about his last game in a Raceland jersey against Bellevue. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that game ended on just that, a fumble foward.
  9. In reference to the Brossart comment
  10. The PI was a bad call, both were pushing and holding, should have been a no call. Ended up deciding the game, but the Rams left 12 points off the score board, two trips inside the 2 and couldnt go under center? Dont like the play call there. Paintsville better clean their act up, Pikeville is much more atheletic than Raceland and the dumb ERROGANT, penalties by the Tigers will cost them against a better offensive team. The Rams have come a long way in a short amount of time. Proud of them tonight. Hate the outcome for the seniors, to them, I say thank you for all the hard work. I have been a big mouth at times and called several kids out, primarily Kane Snyder, but I am extremely proud of that young man. Kane, you are a hardnosed ball player and I couldnt be prouder of your performance over the last few games of the season. Good luck to the Tigers the rest of the way.
  11. Though I dont feel Russell doesnt have quite the backfield Paintsville has, I liked seeing our defense hold Conley in check and we did the same thing the following week against the 1200 yard rusher that Brossart had. I think the 5 man front we are using now has made a big difference. The question is, will Kash beat us with his arm? I think if we force Paintsville to throw the ball, we will have a better chance at winning this game. If we let them run wild again, we have no chance.
  12. Dont let him fool ya! He's just watched "The Blind Side" lol
  13. ^^^he will likely be the one that is not dressed for the weather in which he stands lol
  14. Gotta disagree on two counts... 2013, was supposed to be the year of the Panther in this region, Raceland beat Pikeville at home that year, then lost on the road to a better Williamsburg team, no eggs laid, Williamsburg beat us. 2014, again, all signs pointed to Pikeville coming out as region champs. Paintsville avenged an emberassing defeat to Pikeville in the regular season and Raceland recieved a gift of a home regional title game, winning their second consecutive region title, only to yet again fall to the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets in a game that was a dogfight until the 4th quarter when Wburg went off. No eggs laid, 2 district titles, 2 region titles, in 2 years, then knocked out by a better team. Disagreement #2, while I would love to say you are right in saying that Raceland has the better over all team, I have to say that is incorrect. Apples to apples, their big 3 are better than our big 3. Kash, Phelps, and Trimble are all stronger, quicker, and more atheletic than Davidson, Snyder, and Christian, you can throw Howard and Jamison into that mix as well. Now, Im not saying our kids are bad ball players, they just arent as good as their best 3. BUT, the lines are comparable, and that is where games are won. Our secondary and LBs didnt tackle well or in general, just plaid their worst game of the season in the district game with Paintsville, a majority of that was a result of a tremendous and devistating loss to Fairview the week prior. You will see a different Raceland team in Paintsville this week. Will it be enough? I dont think it will, but the Tigers will know they were in a ball game, unlike last time when we might as well have stayed on the bus.
  15. ^^^hope so. But dont think its likely.
  16. Lord why dont u all get a room. Back on subject... LC 35 WC 28
  17. This coming from a die hard Raceland Ram fan, while I am glad we get the chance to avenge our emberassing loss to Paintsville in October, a team that goes winless in their district DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS. Take the top 2 from each district and be done.
  18. Game was much closer than it should have been. Officiating was bad, but it was both ways. I dont know if they got a spot right for either team all night. 3 times they called for a measurement and three times the ball ended up a half yard short or ahead of where the measured spot was. But officiating didnt dictate the outcome. Our lineman get my knod for MVP of this game. Outside of a few carries that the BB QB and RB got loose, they dominated the LOS defensively and offensively I think I could have run for over 100 yards and 2 TDs (i have a hurniated disk and weigh 285 lbs btw). But primarily, if not for our DL being in the QBs face all night, we would not have won this game. They had WR open all night and our corners got burnt on ever sail route, but, their QB never had a chance to set his feet to make a auality throw. Yet again, dumb penalties stalled drives and really hurt our momentum. A jr and sr heavy team shouldnt make thise kinds of mistakes. The way the game played out, we left 2 TDs off the score board and gave up two big pass plays, game should have been somewhere around 35+ to 7. But hats off to the Mustangs for making some adjustments at half time and causing us to cough up the football on our first play from scrimmage in the second half. This was a banner and program year for Brossart. Congrats on a good season. Rams, made it out by the skin of our teeth again on the road. Next week is a whole different animal as we already know. But we have given ourselves a chance to avenge our emberassment to the Tigers in the regular season.
  19. Well here we are again. Had we went into Brossart's place and continued our domination that we had in the second quarter and finished with a 35ish-7ish win, Id say we had a legitimate shot at shocking class 1A and pulling the upset. But with a 2 TD lead, there are still Jrs and Srs getting flsgged for jawing, blocking in the back, and lining up incorrectly. I do like the way our offensive line has blocked the last two weeks and we have shut down two really good running backs in the kid from Brossart and Conley from Russell. I think we CAN go into Paintsville and pull of the upset, just dont think we can pull it out, though its a much better ball game and Paintsville will know we were there, unlike last time. Paintsville 35 Raceland 21 Lord I hope I am wrong. Makes me sick to even make that post.
  20. Belfry has seemingly been on a war path since their near fall, by a nose hair win over Lawrence Co, in possibly the worst Pirate performance in the Haywood era. Turnovers can cause good teams to look bad and bad teams, if they can take advantage of those turnovers, look good. I think Russell will come out motivated and make a game of it for the first two quarters, but sadly, I think it wakes up a sleeping giant and Belfry goes off in the second half. Pirates 42 Devils 28
  21. Ashland's closest games (minus JC), have come with teams that throw the ball effeciently. Bourbon Co does just that. The key to hanging with Ashland is a mix of run and pass, but still keeping Ashland's offense, also known as Q, off the field. Kurtlen Brown showed last week that he is very capable of handling things when needed though. I think that with out a passing game, as they get deeper into the playoffs, the Tomcats need to turn those two into a two headed monster. Before last weeks game when Brown carried the ball for 20+ times in the absence of Baker, the most carries he had in a game was 9. Now, I think Baker needs to get the bulk of the touches, his numbers back that up. But, I think with no passing game, for Ashland to get to over the Matney hump, they need to go with a 50/30/10/10 percentage among Baker/Brown/Dowdy/Roberts when it comes to rushing. Especially this week, as BC has struggled heavily against the run all year. Its hard enough just containing baker with one or two guys keying on him. If you start having to account for Brown between the tackles and Roberts up the middle, Ashland nearly doesnt need any more than a ground game. You cant load the box because Baker can stretch you out without a formation that does so, so you have to play a ballanced defense. Ashland has too many weapons to not use them. Its too late to develop a passing attack. So why not use the entire stable of back you have? All of this is in reference to IF Baker is at 100%. Defensively, O'Bryan is a game changer and without him, Ashland isnt nearly as versatile defensively. I say... Ashland (at 100%) 42 Bourbon County 27 Ashland (with out Baker/O'Bryan) 35 Bourbon County 30....really anyone's ball game So I believe that Baker and O'Bryan will make or break the Tomcats post season run.
