I believe this was already discussed during the T/X regular season game. However, all of these sound like excuses. Trinity and DeSales football do not seem to be suffering and I know neither had 95 members of the freshmen team the last two seasons. St. X hasn't had a problem taking public school kids in the past. I mentioned in the earlier thread Duece Finch who attended Parkside MS in Indiana. Going back a little further I grew up playing with William Thomas and Ryan Joyner at Fern Creek, neither played for or attended catholic grade school. So either the school's magically no longer accepting of public school kids or X is just upset because some of those kids they used to get are now choosing to go to T, Male, Central, DeSales and probably even CAL, whether they are public or CSAA kids. Somehow it doesn't seem to be hurting those other schools, only X.

Looking at team page on KHSAA scoreboard, JH has rushed for 3200+ yards and allowed 1940.

Many school districts pay for buses for athletic events out of the athletics budget. Many schools have had textbook, professional development, etc budgets slashed, so they can't justify covering all transportation costs out the general school funds.

Caldwell beat North Hardin 49-35 at Caldwell. North Hardin better than Henderson (beat Meade who knocked Henderson out of playoffs). Franklin Simpson has a decent record but several teams would be in same spot with their schedule. South Warren beat NH 21-0, Franklin Simpson 27-0 (with from what I read on here a hurt QB) for comparison. Best win for Caldwell and Etown is same, Paducah Tilghman. That is the best team either team beat. Did Etown play Mayfield? No, but their schedule was tougher than people want to give them credit for, and they took care of business. Friday is going to be a great game, hope everyone is ready.

I'm pretty sure Coach Cobb could be a head coach if he wanted to be. I think he enjoys what he is doing at Trinity, don't think there is anything to worry about.

I think Elizabethtown has the best chance to advance. Game with Caldwell should be exciting. Don't see Central beating McCracken. John is banged up and Shelby is tough. Rockets can definitely win that game.

Etowns best 3 wins are probably PT, Adair and North Hardin . . . just like Caldwell. Lets stop with the schedule nonsense, Etown has proven they can play. Will not be a 20 pt game in either direcrion.

Why would he leave Central? I know theyve proven they can beat the big boys, but they dont have to compete against them week in and week out. Hes got a good thing going, id be surprised to see him leave.

Yeast was HC at Bryan Station. Bigger concern would be how much hes moved around. To my knowledge hes been at Lincoln Co, Marion Co, Bryan Station and now Ohio in a short time.

Dont think it works that way in a large public school system. All JCPS coaches are paid same amount as mandated by school board. Think many JCPS schools would have something to say if Manual was able to "come up with some money" to entice a coach.

When a job like this comes open why are Glaser and Redman mentioned? They have some great accomplishments but have been out of coaching and probably arent interested in taking a job and staying for very long. Someone like Yeast has hopped all over as well. Would be a tougher sell but better to go with a younger up and comer who wants to build and would be interested in staying. But in my experience thats not how JCPS works.

And I have a friend who coaches at Trinity and he confirms they also have exit interviews, regardless if their season ends with a ring. Have open communication and help kids get better, that's the way I understand it.

It's not an evaluation, just a conference with the coach. I'm sure most people have some sort of quarterly or annual review at their job. Something like, Johnny you were a great special teams player for us this year. We think you can help us next year at Safety. We would like to see you get stronger and we want to see you work on your communication and leadership skills. Here are some specific things we think you can do . . . What role do you see yourself having, what goals do you have for yourself and the team next year, what do you think we can improve on as a team and staff? Ones I've been a part of are no longer than 5 - 10 minutes. Usually head coach and position coach. I've coached at 2 different schools and we've used exit interviews with all returning underclassmen and usually given the seniors an option if they want an exit meeting or not. We had exit interviews when I played in college. I know the baseball coach at our school also does exit interviews.

Every team I've been a part of does exit interviews. I think it is important to tell a kid this is where we see your role on the team, if you want that role to be different, then these are the things we think you need to do to improve and change that.

I think at this point it is a matter of when not if . . .

Thanks for the insight. That was kinda my thought as well, but interesting to know he is certified to teach if he wanted to pursue other opportunities.

Reason I asked I thought that was a reason he left Desales (or excuse their admin gave) was he wasnt a certified teacher. Being AD wouldnt need that requirement. In Bullitt County doesn't have to be a teacher to Coach, but I'd think you'd want him in building. Cant be AD because Barr isnt giving that up and hes still half day AD and teacher. Could take a $10 an hour job like being in school suspension, but surely he has better options than that.

Is he a certified teacher? Be interesting if he could get in the building in any way.

Etown 34-28 over North. Caldwell 49-35 over North. Caldwell 46-27 over PT, if you want to talk comparisons, and thats after North made trip to Caldwell. I think you could argue North better than PT. Either way, dont think Etown will be overwhelmed by PTs speed. And PT has to come to Etown, think long bus ride wont have an affect?

I think Etown might have a little speed too . . .
