How about Kentucky having 3 out of the 5 winningest HS football programs?
Hope to be around for #900 and #1000.

Class 2A State Championship: Mayfield vs. Newport Central Catholic
I hope it all works out for you. Personally, I think your worry is misplaced, as the whole thing has been a running joke, of which you are not a part of, and additionally you are making up problems that don't exist. "Impact of my behavior?" I can be pleasantly drunk with no behavior and no impact on "teenagers and other fans." You can worry about this all you want, some people live to be miserable and judge others and spout off about things they are ignorant of. So, knock yourself out with it. I hope your kids can survive the ordeal of being in a big stadium watching a football game where a few of the people might have had something to drink. Finally, wasn't that your team and fanbase that had the discussion about embarrassing amounts of vulgarities yelled during the Danville game. If you want something to worry about, why not worry about you and yours first. I can assure you if I get out of hand, someone from Mayfield will set me straight. Though you sound like a thoroughly unpleasant person, you are welcome to come hang out with me and my friends at the game and you can judge for yourself. You can stop Living Vicariously and actually live a little for yourself.

How do other schools do it?
The thread that posed the question about Mayfield's long term success and perceived lack of D1 players ended up a good thread about how Mayfield maintains the level of excellence. I am interested in how other schools such as Highlands, Trinity, and others maintain their level. As someone mentioned in the thread that totaled regional finals, someone noted that the rich keep getting richer. How does this happen, what do the "rich" do that others don't?

Move the games back to Louisville!
Very chuckle-worthy @WESTSIDE. I have lived here my whole life and had no idea that Kentucky's first iron furnace was near. Many weekends I just gather the family up and we go out to look at historical furnaces. Can't believe this one slipped by.

Something that amazes me about Mayfield Football
I agree with all the explanations offered and will add that I really think the "working as one unit" is under-appreciated in a general sense from outsiders. The kids start learning the plays, and the technique in elementary school. The result could been seen in last week's DeSales' game. Most people on both sides thought the game would be tight. But no one from DeSales thought our O-line would open holes they way they did. And if you looked at the kids standing on each side of the line, by all rights we should not have been able to run up the middle. But we did. And I attribute it the work ethic of the kids, and the culmination of years of teaching technique for how to block, and how to work together as a unit. I think we have won more than a few games from coaching, but not necessarily coaching in the week of the game, but coaching in the years before the game. Edit: I don't mean to imply that we don't win with coaching in the week of the game and at halftime too. We got that as well.

Class 2A State Championship: Mayfield vs. Newport Central Catholic
I have managed to do this for over twenty years without a single incident. I think it will be okay, but maybe you guys can have some emergency personal on hand in case a tragedy erupts. Enjoy the game, hope to see you there.

Class 2A State Championship: Mayfield vs. Newport Central Catholic
Had I known I could actually get support for this, I would have made it "get drunk and have a boatload of strippers." Live and learn I guess.

Beechwood gets a history lesson in preparation for the finals
I think its great to show the kids that they are a part of something that is more than just the here and now.

Move the games back to Louisville!
Things that are certain in life: Death, Taxes, and if you hold an event outside Louisville people in Louisville will complain about the location.

Class 2A State Championship: Mayfield vs. Newport Central Catholic
This game presents an unusual challenge. Instead of getting drunk on a Friday night, I have to get drunk on a Sunday afternoon. I have been strategizing and gameplanning this and am confident I can get the job done. GO BIG RED!

Class 2A State Championship: Mayfield vs. Newport Central Catholic
Does this mean we can't go to state after all? In all fairness, Desales did hold us to negative yardage the last four plays of the game.

Mayfield has to be licking their chops, right?
A lot of posts on here are either 1) people accusing Mayfield fans of being cocky or 2) Mayfield fans being cocky. And we are being on our best behavior, and the Guru goes and posts this thread lol. I think NCC is probably feeling like they are a team of destiny. Dangerous type of team. This game has an instant classic feel to me.

Class 2A State Championship: Mayfield vs. Newport Central Catholic
Hmmmm, if I was in an all boys school and they said "We are gonna add "Central" to the name AND a bunch of catholic school girls", I would take that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Mayfield 24 DeSales 19
Congrats to colts, and your season, and the two previous seasons. It was a good game, some mistakes on both sides, but hey, these are high school kids. Both teams showed class and heart. We received a nice welcome back to 2A football and in turn gave a welcome to Mayfield football. I am proud of our kids and coaching staff. Especially our line. I couldn't see'em a lot of the time, but they opened a lot of holes. Just a superb effort and poise. It looked to me like some of those big ole boys got to huffin and puffin in the second half and we took advantage. GO BIG RED

There is a difference between missing tackles and having a talented player make you miss.

So the four semi-finalists have a combined 28 state titles? That's pretty cool.- Desales at Mayfield 2A semi-final predictions
GO BIG RED!- Thanksgiving Practice
Our tradition, at least recently, was to discreetly spike the coffee and doughnuts at the Beechwood practice with a laxative. But then we moved to 2A.- Desales at Mayfield 2A semi-final predictions
Turkey in the brine. Woods chips soaking in bourbon. Cash for the wife so she can shopping. A few more hours of work and nothing but food, drink, and football ahead. Remember my theory, everytime I get drunk for a game, Mayfield wins. I will once again do my part for the team. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, be safe. GO BIG RED!- Desales at Mayfield 2A semi-final predictions
So the forecast is rain? Does this mean we now have to endure 3 days of DeSales fans bragging about how the rain is different in 2A than it was in 1A and/or that they are more ready for rain because they are used to the tough Louisville rains?- Desales at Mayfield 2A semi-final predictions
Twas the day after Thanksgiving, when all thru the city, the Cards were dressing, so to win without pity. The Colts were in time for the first time ever, They knew they could only win if the clock struck never. The fans were dressed in all red and black, The team was hungry for an equine snack. Out on the field the anthem was played, Hands covering hearts, and all lips stayed. The music ended and out came a roar, Soon the Colts' season would be no more. The young men in red took to the field, and in the cold it was again revealed, that the Cards' fight and skill had no match. The Colts sent off in quick dispatch. Both teams fought hard and at the end of the game, The Cards had 20 but the Colts' score stayed the same. Before the game the Colts had said a lotta of sumpin' But they still got beat 20 to nuttin'- Desales at Mayfield 2A semi-final predictions
