Beechwood gets a history lesson in preparation for the finals

Featured Replies

I understand Coach Rash showed his team some of the early Beechwood State Championship wins as part of the team preparation for their date with Pikeville this Thursday. I am told the team really enjoyed watching the games and Coach Rash did it in part to show his current team how the finals should be played.

I applaud Coach Rash, good job Coach!

On a personal note, we (Beechwood) barely beat Paris in Beechwood's first ever state football championship in 1984. Both teams were about even, if we played ten games I doubt either team wins more than six...

Let me give some shoutouts to Scott Tackett, Chris Bowling, Steve Alhers, and Rodney Miller. There are many more guys I could mention but those four seniors were all stellar high school football players.

Great family!

They are a sweet family and it is good thing too because they (I am talking about the guys) are all beasts.

I knew the older kids more than the younger. Bob and Billy were monsters on the football field, Bob in particular.

I knew Bob. A hell of a guy!

David and Steve were monsters too.

I had heard that unfortunately those were years I was out of town and didn't get back to any games. I did see the 1984 SC game though.

Their house was a lot of fun to hang out at when we were kids.

David was two years older than Steve I believe and Steve played in 84 in the finals. Steve was a D1 Player but he went on to play college baseball. Steve Ahlers was a man among boys in high school.

I got excited when I first saw this, thinking from the title of the thread that Rash had Morris and the boys talk with them  Sorry guys I couldn't help myself on that one

I recall that Paris squad, they had a long winning streak entering that season but lost to Mayfield in the Purchase Bowl

How close was that game?

And I know the Paris season mission was Revenge on Russellville which put Beechwood in a good position the next week.

Going to need to play like those teams to have a chance vs Pikeville.

I'm really glad that Beechwood and Pikeville are meeting for the A state title. They had a nice rivalry going back in the late 80s and early 90s. It is nice to see them meeting in the championship.

Tackett is a beast. He could still suit up if Noel needs him Thursday!
