Steve Ahlers is a soft spoken beast and very nice guy. He could put on the equipment today and still dominate.

 

I remember Scott Tackett being pretty much instoppable.

 

I have run into Steve a couple of times recently. There is no question in my mind Steve could line up right now and play.

Coach Rash shared a lesson on Beechwood tradition and history with the team and this thread is doing the same for many of us. Keep the comments coming. This is a fun read.

David was two years older than Steve I believe and Steve played in 84 in the finals. Steve was a D1 Player but he went on to play college baseball. Steve Ahlers was a man among boys in high school.

Bobby was a pretty darn good tennis player and an overall great guy. Got to meet his family once before a Reds game and they were all top notch people

More on Scott Tackett, I talked to his wife Lori about this thread (Lori is sweet, hot woman from Beechwood that went on to be a UK Cheerleader) and she had this to say about Scott:

I don't want to jump too far in the past but I got a little info on this. Brandon had a bunch of major college football offers but they all wanted him to play defense and he wanted to play offense. On a side note, UK didn't show any interest in him.

 

On a personal note, especially having coached Brandon, I always wanted to see what he would do playing RB on a D1 team, he was definitely good enough.

 

And for Brandon, I clearly remember it was the Lloyd game of his junior year when the real Brandon Berger showed up. He was good before that, but Lloyd of his junior year that D1 RB showed up. What else can I say, welcome to Class A Football Juggs.

 

Finally, Brandon played a long time in the minor leagues, a lot in Triple A I believe, and he also spent some time with the Kansas City Royals.

 

He welcomed New Cath to Class A as well. I have never seen someone take over a game like he did in the finals against Pikeville rushing for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Since Jason has blessed us with his presence I want to add that Jason's older brother Henry Bucklen was another key contributor on the 1984 State Champs and he caused a Paris fumble in the game.

 

Just like you have Mike and Chris Bowling, you have Jason and Henry Bucklen.
