4A #1 Johnson Central vs. Greenup County
I imagine the poll meant to say "beating" JC rather than "being" JC. They have no chance of being JC, but do have a chance of beating them. If they can protect their QB and sustain long drives then they could pull out a win. I give them a 1% chance.

Henry Clay 21 Lafayette 17
On another thread a few weeks ago (after JC played Henry Clay), I made the comment at that time HC could be the best 0-3 team in the state. They are looking like they were now. They are much better than their start to season. Are they contenders for best team in Lexington though? Thoughts?

Johnson Central 58 Boyd County 0
JC subbed frosh after 3 series of the game (mid 1st quarter) and mixed everybody in and out rest of game. As crazy as it sounds this game could have been much worse.

Statewide BGP rankings?
What do you think it will take to get the newspapers to adopt more main stream and progressive ways of ranking in KY? Seems they are not very innovative or accurate in their current models. Personally i would buy more Sunday papers if I felt their rankings had more substance and accuracy to them. Right now I feel BGP has the best hold on high school rankings in the state bar none (calpreps being my desired computer based model). But thats just me. Thoughts?

Boyd County at 4A #1 Johnson Central
Here are the results of JC vs. Boyd in the Matney era. Boyd last beat Johnson Central in 2002. Johnson Centrals athletic website has every game they have ever played with scores stats and notes. It's where I got this from. 2005: Johnson Central 47-27 2006: Johnson Central 63-12 2006: Johnson Central 50-6 (3A Playoffs; 1st Round) 2011: Johnson Central 51-20 2012: Johnson Central 37-6 2013: Johnson Central 69-14 2014: Johnson Central 64-19 2015: Johnson Central 59-12 2016: Johnson Central 56-0

Cantrall’s Rating the State 9-17-17
Not even worth discussing for me. Newspaper ratings are outdated. If I want accurate ratings I use the ones on this site. If I want computer ratings or prediction models for out of state teams I go to calpreps.

Johnson Central 42 Louisville Moore 8
Final. After taking opening kick 65 yards on 12 plays, JC shuts out Louisville Moore for the final score. Blake Gamble with 175 yards on ground for 4th straight 100 yard game. Freshman Dylan Preston with 100 yards and TD as well. The difference was JCs massive offensive and defensive lines. Just wore down Moore. Weaver for Moore is a very good player and lived up to the hype. Bright future for that kid! JC has traveled over 900 miles and 14.5 hours on the bus during their 3 game road trip but will back at home to open district play next week.

Belfry/Corbin: What Do You Think?
Got a chance to see Huntington when JC scrimmaged them at their place. Albeit a scrimmage, JC just won 14-7. Point: Huntington is a very very good team. Big, athletic, huge receivers that are fast and getting college attention, one of the most highly recruited linemen in the nation to go along with other recruited lineman (smaller schools), smash mouth defense with ability to cover man to man on corners. I have not seen Boyle or Corbin and simply go off what I read, but I would guess those fans have not seen Huntington either. It would be hard for me to imagine that any of the aforementioned teams has played an opponent better than Huntington. As good? Perhaps, but not better. I was shocked to see Belfry up so big on them early in the first half and less surprised to see the Highlanders make a comeback. Huntington is good enough to give Martinsburg a run for their money this year although I do think they will finish runner-up. I think people are sleeping on Belfry a bit. They are still very capable of winning it all. Until someone in KY/3A beats them, the Pirates should still be top dog in my opinion.

Henry Clay 46 Southwestern 16
And Henry Clay a bit underrated.

Henry Clay/Southwestern Updates
Henry Clay is better than their record.
-
Johnson Central 41 South Charleston (WV) 28
Score not indicative of how JC dominated at the LOS. Silly turnovers and big plays by SC late made it closer. JC will improve and clean up mistakes. Still very young on defense and SC is a solid opponent.

2017 Litkenhous Ratings 9-5-2017
Archaic system. Litkehnous came out in 1934. It does not calculate some wins/losses to out of state opponents either. The ratings create debate and thus sell papers. Thats my guess to why they havent been replaced. I suppose media will take money over accuracy, but as previously stated, they will get better as the year goes along. Way Too Early Class 4A Playoff Projections
Not taking anything away from the west, but in my opinion Wayne County and Johnson Central is the Semi-state game will determine the 4A State Champion. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that game would be played at Wayne County this year. I believe its a two horse race between these two compared to rest of the state.

Is Hopkinsville the best 0-3 team in the state?
It absolutely must be accounted for, I agree. But I did see them in person and they are not a bad football team at all. Extremely fast and play bigger on the line that expected. Henry Clay may not be the best 0-3 team in the state, but IMO they are in the conversation with the aforementioned teams.

Is Hopkinsville the best 0-3 team in the state?
Henry Clay might make a claim to being best 0-3 team in state but this is an interesting argument nonetheless. Hopkinsville has definitely played a tough schedule but like previous posters mentioned, likely had a different team in mind when they made it.
