  1. Huntington is a very good, very explosive team on both sides of the ball. Was pulling for Belfry but knew it would be a tough game after seeing the Highlanders in a controlled scrimmage versus JC a few weeks ago. This game will only help Belfry as they make a run at yet another state title.
  2. Blake Gamble (Johnson Central) 20 carries - 107 yards 2 TD's 2 catches - 70 yards 1 TD 2 INT's, 4 solo tackles Took over against a very good Capital, WV team when star RB Joe Jackson left with knee injury during 2nd series. Gamble had a Geordan Blanton like game on a very big stage early in the season against a very good opponent.
  3. From reports I was given, Joe was held out for precaution. I agree that this Capital team was better, deeper, and faster than last years version. Their kids played hard, hit hard and were well coached. Had athletes all over the field and big play ability on every snap. JC was just too much in the trenches and threw their timing and running off it seemed.
  4. Capital, WV has a very good team and I would not be surprised to see them in the state championship vs. Martinsburg come December. A ton of young players stepped up tonight for the Golden Eagles as they saw Joe Jackson go down on the 2nd series with a knee injury (6:30 1Q - should be fine as it seemed to be hyper-extended a bit - returned for only one more play as a decoy late in the 2nd half - had over 70 yards at time of injury). JC was up only 7-0 and driving when Jackson left the game. Enter Blake Gamble as he was everywhere tonight. Had 2 TD's rushing, 1 TD receiving, 2 INT's on defense, and a bunch of timely tackles. JC's line just wore down the very athletic Capital line on both sides of the ball and grinded out a very good opening win. Very sloppy game both ways with lots of penalty's that need to be cleaned up. Great crowd and a nice win to open the season for JC. This Golden Eagle team will only get better from an opponent such as Capital.
  5. If you want to see a monster crowd head to the JC/Capital, WV game. Last year over 8K were in attendance and more are expected this year. JCs scrimmage last week had over 3K alone. Should be a good game too! Festivities start at 5pm with lots of tailgating, live music, and plenty for the kids. A wide variety of food vendors and ample parking as well. If you love high school football and are in the area I highly recommend it.
  6. Great work. I think you need to add Ethan Bingham on the top players list. Marshall commit offensive lineman. 6'6" 315 lbs. Very good player who JC will run behind alot.
  7. How do the upgrades fit in with title IX? If I'm not mistaken member schools must spend the same amount on both genders regardless of the funding. Is volleyball the counter part to football?
  8. How old is Harmon? Is he 15 like most of the 2021 kids or older? Just curious as he played in the 16u and was wondering if he played up or is actually 16 entering his freshman year.
  9. 1st team to score might win this one. Two very good pitching staffs.
  10. JC vs. Highlands can be found on wsip 98.9 FM. Listen live button on Home Scott Ratliff on the call for that one. Does a great job.
  11. Is highlands throwing number 2? Thought the lefty was the ace?
  12. And everyone else in the bottom half.
  13. Johnson Central: Region 15 champions. 31-7-1 record. Defeated Hazard (Region 14 champions) on 4/21, 1-0. Tied 0-0 with Scott County (Region 11 champions) on 5/19. Game was called after the 5th inning due to weather. Highlands: Region 9 champions. 25-12 record. Defeated Simon Kenton (Region 8 champions)3-2 on 3/25.
  14. Common opponents: Lexington Catholic Double Header: JC Won 7-4 & Lost 1-2 on 3/25. Highlands lost 1-11 in 6 innings on 4/8. Campbell County JC won 3-2 on 5/13. Highlands won 1-0 on 5/2. Elder, OH. JC won 6-5 on 4/15. Highlands lost 1-6 on 4/19.
  15. Bottom bracket is brutal. All of them could probably be in state championship game if moved to the top.
  16. Tough draw this year for the bottom bracket. It is loaded! I expect your state champion to come from those 8.

  20. What do the baseball guru's out there think about these rankings? Are they close, way off, etc. Im more of a basketball guy myself, just curious as to what the BGP community thinks.
