I don't see how a high school state tournament could be accurately seeded due to the regional winners being scattered throughout the state and most don't play each other during the season. The seeding could only be by judgement alone. I know this might be able to work okay at the college level but it would be difficult in high school.

The bracket is as unbalanced as I've ever seen a state tournament bracket in any sport.

Take a look at the wrestling state tourney brackets. Every year there's more than a few unbalanced brackets.

Seeding is not nearly as difficult as many want to make it out to be. You don't even need to seed all 16 teams. Seed the top 4 or 8, then do your random draw.

Why do they not have sectional tournaments anymore? Used to be that the champs of Regions 1-4, 5-8, etc. would play a tournament one weekend and then the four sectional champs went to Lexington for the Final Four.

This would make more sense then what they do now. 2 separate weekends in Lexingtonnis stupid.

Want to make sure I understand the thinking here. 1 and 2 playing each other before the finals is a bad thing in except in Football if 1 and 2 are both from Louisville. Someone asked what the reward was for a team winning a regional if they had to play a high ranked team right off the bat. The reward is being in the championship tournament. Only 16 teams get to say that.
