  1. So the school with the richest parents wins? If that were true, Villa Madonna would dominate.
  2. I think Scott is part of this year's bad draw, where every good team in the State is on the same side of the bracket
  3. yes, especially since they were tied 1-1 on the season going into the match and it was mathematically impossible for anyone to get a 3rd win this season. Camel math!
  4. How often do teams lose their District title game, then get a rematch in the Region final, and win? Pretty big win for Mustangs. Awfully quiet in Camel Land.
  5. I just realized this is the last week to see NDA and Hentz play in NKY. Hentz made the USA National team (1 of only 12). If you read what those in the know say, she's considered the #1 player at her position (Libero?) in the country, is a finalist for the National POY, and is possibly a future Olympian. Has there been any other athlete in NKY with this kind of resume and national recognition in any sport? Seems like the kind of player down the road you'll want to be able to say you saw play in high school. May want to check them out while you can.
  6. You don't have to look very far. NDA volleyball sitting on 4 right now, most believe will have 5 by end of the week...which then doubles the claim: 2 sports, 5 in a row, 9th region. NDA clearly dominating.
  7. 5 straight! - the 9th belongs to NDA!
  8. And I'm for the favorite. Doesn't make for an exciting story. But to be head and shoulders above the rest takes time, effort, and dedication. Dominant teams aren't born that way. They earned it by working as hard and likely harder than everyone else.
  9. they way they are playing right now, and considering injuries, I would go 1. NDA 2. St. Henry 3. Cooper 4. Beechwood 5. Ryle 6. NCC 7. Villa 8. Highlands no one. NDA hasn't lost a set to any of these teams.
  10. Becuase Harrison County would lose the gate and concessions. Otherwise, I'm fine with that. You mock, yet also picked Scott.
  11. When you present it that way, I guess good for HC - they know the system and are making it work for them. Using your example, there's nothing stopping any HS from doing this. KHSAA is very lax compared to other states on having the club/AAU/travel/select world and the high school world being one and the same year 'round. And players wanting to play HS with their club/AAU/travel/select teammates is nothing new. Don't see this as a problem. Look around at other sports. This is pretty much how programs are built.
  12. Scott's off night is still going to be better than the rest of the 10th region. And I will skip 'with all due respect' because we all know what comes after that. Scott is just better, OK? Better players, better team. It happens. It would take a catastrophic unforeseen set of improbable circumstances for Scott to lose.
  13. If you're asking me if I think it's a level playing field out there - it's probably not. But with open enrollment popular in many districts, and public schools accepting out of district students these days, it's more level that it's been. I don't see how taking an 8th grader, or even several of them, is "win at all costs". Some schools take 8th graders and some don't. It risky. If you drive upperclass players away the program will stumble. But I do think a coach should be able to pick their team from the players available to them, and that paying tuition does not guarantee you a roster spot or playing time.
  14. I expect ND to have a letdown after defeating Highlands, and Boone as well after defeating NCC. I'll give the mental edge to ND since they've been there before - my guess is Boone Co is just happy to be there.
  15. Whoever can take advantage of the swampy playing conditions and slow field will win.
  16. What don't you like about it? How is this situation "win at all costs"?
  17. Even if that happens, as an 8th grader, she can still go somewhere else for her Freshman year without penalty. The question to ask is - will she stay at HC after this year?
  18. Scott won't lose a set in Region 10 playoffs. Brossart 2nd best team, who Scott handled very easily. Big gap after Brossart in the Region, so these 2 could meet again. Scott simply that much better than the rest of the Region.
  19. The last District volleyball final I went to had about 20 people at it. Soccer doesn't draw much better. Don't blame others for your parking problems. A mile, really? Google maps shows that a mile's distance from Dixie HS on Dixie Highway would be on the other side of I-275 past Crestview Town Center and closer to Barleycorn's. Is this where you parked? You walked down Dixie Highway from the other side of I-275??
  20. Finals per KHSAA. Region 9 final set. Who predicted this one? Who didn't? Will Boone finish the run with a win vs NDA? (I say no) from Boone vs NCC
  21. I've seen too much and know too much. Girls Volleyball is very predictable. Scott will win the 10th, and someone from Louisville will win it all. Not rocket science. Scott hasn't lost a set to a 10th team all season, and ND hasn't to a 9th team. Don't expect either to change now.
  22. You could say that about more than just one ND sport.
  23. Nothing bodes well for anyone unless their name is Scott. Scott wins this going away and won't lose a single set. They could play outside in a snowstorm and Scott will win.
  24. NDA and Cov Cath are close in distance, but far apart in many ways - ask any current parent or student. Everyone on the outside thinks they are a pair - that's not even close. Instead of looking for referee excuses, how about taking a hard look at a Highlands program that despite having what most would consider enough talent to work with, has lost to ND 3 straight years in Regionals, and hasn't won a Region since 2010. We always hear about all this great young Highlands talent coming up
