  1. Highlands almost never cancels, since everyone can basically walk to school. ((Except for the football recruits. Who knows where they actually live))
  2. Still have no good explanation why Conner girls couldn't play basketball last night, while 10 other schools in same NKY area did. plus 5 boys games too.
  3. FYI - my quote is directly from the snow policy posted on the school district web site
  4. Boone County's default policy: If school is canceled: Schools will not be open for regular business. All afternoon and evening activities, including night school, are canceled as well.
  5. Some school districts have the policy: no school = no evening activities, ie sports. If this is truly about student safety, anyone reasonable can understand that while road condition may exist in the morning that make cancelling school the right call...10 hours or more later, those same roads can be (and are likely to be) completely back to normal, based your typical overnight/morning snow event. Do schools cancel evening activities in the name of safety, or because someone thinks it looks bad (who?) to not have school, but still have the basketball game? Like if you don't have dinner, you don't get dessert?
  6. This "warning" was originally supposed to go until 6am on Wed, and then was reverted back to an "advisory" when the "storm" didn't pan out.
  7. Maybe. but do his players share the same feeling? because they seem to be playing for him.
  8. Is that wrong? Is that a valid reason for not shaking hands in the handshake line? NDA coach gets zero love on BGP, but NDA is winning games many on here didn't think they would win.
  9. On a final 8th grade report card, it doesn't say where (why would it?).. it just says promoted to 9th grade. And you aren't really enrolled in HS until you show up for day 1 at said HS. You can do all the paperwork, but still change your mind until school starts (assuming the new school will take you). So, there's kind of a loophole there. You aren't anyone's property the summer before your Frosh year.
  10. pretty simple - less talent competing to make the team + playing against less talented teams. You don't see these 1 person take-overs in populated areas because there's usually someone else on the team that's going to be deserving enough to take away some of your shots. And the relative strength of your opponents has to be a factor.
  11. I say no because once you graduate 8th grade, at the end of May let's say, you are no longer an 8th grader, you have been promoted to 9th grade. So any contact after graduation during the summer doesn't matter, at least in the eyes of the KHSAA. You could also argue that Diocese feeder school rules no longer apply then either for same reason - no longer enrolled at feeder school. I think that is true, thus the many popular "grade school nights" where there is no direct contact.
  12. I said this on Oct 23 2015. Posted Feb 1 2016. Told all of you months ago this would work. Quick shout out to my many detractors.
  13. Not in the back row they're not. Starting Libero for NDA, D1 scholarship. Should have been on there. I have questions. Why 6 players? Is there a limit? Is there a limit to number of girls from one school on 1st team? That shouldn't have stopped her from being on there. 1st team has 5 all-position players, plus Hentz makes 6. Need a place for a defender on 1st team. You win with good passes from back row.
  14. Another name for All-Conference or All-NKY if you wish. As selected by the NKYGVCA. I do not know the % of coaches participating or how the nomination/process works (example: limit on # of players from one school, every school get an award no matter what, etc) Also, this is a different group than the KVCA and their Regional Players of the Year/Coach of the Year Awards, and encompasses all KHSAA Regions in NKY. Player of the Year: Morgan Hentz, Notre Dame Academy Coach of the Year: Andrea Sullivan, Scott 1st team: Jessica Tapp, Scott Kaity Smith, Cooper Hayley Bush, Ryle Kelly Franxman, Scott Hannah Talkers, Notre Dame Academy Madison Salkowski, Notre Dame Academy 2nd Team: Alli Borders, Boone County Allie Stinson, Ryle Cali Helinski, Conner Hannah Colvin, Notre Dame Academy Morgan Kelly, Cooper Rebecca Ruppel, Cooper Honorable Mention: Jordan Tapp, Scott Hailey Gillespie, Cooper Leah Metzger, Dixie Chase Barber, Ryle Deandra Atwood, Conner Perrin Long, Dixie Emily Popham, Simon Kenton
  15. Separation appears to be for regular season only, unclear if there will be 2 separate playoffs. Public/Private schools may still play each other if both agree. Is Kentucky Next? In landmark decision, state votes to separate public/non-public schools for football - NJ.com
  16. I believe you when you say this isn't a HC thing. You've been pretty clear that you believe none of this is technically by-the-book illegal, but IYHO, it's unethical. Ethics are a funny thing. What you think is absolutely ethically wrong may not be so wrong to someone else. Who's ethics are you questioning? Coach?..AD?..School Board?..KHSAA?..Parents?
  17. I wonder how the HHS players and parents that are 100% dedicated to basketball, and seeing playing time now, feel about a club soccer player joining the team later this month, someone that could potentially limit playing time of someone who's there 100% now. You can get on here and tell me that everyone is fine with the situation, but I can almost guarantee you, someone at HHS is not fine with it, or won't be in about a month. Special rules for special players rarely has a 100% acceptance rate.
  18. eventually Brown won't have a choice and everyone is going to have to go to London. expansion is coming there too, so get used to it.
  19. I just posted this in the volleyball thread, thought that it was relevant here too..
  20. I actually answered my own questions today... there are 260 volleyball schools (give or take those that didn't field a team this year) there are 77 coaches listed in the KVCA 2015 directory thats 29% and that's assuming all of them voted, which probably didn't happen. So I'm guessing 20-25% of all KY Volleyball coaches voted for the team.
  21. NKY covers 3 Regions..you've got 3 teams from 3 different Regions as your top 3.. so those are your Region winners? You wouldn't rank the 2nd or 3rd best team in the 9th above the winner of the 8th or 10th? I would.
  22. 2015 Ms. Kentucky Volleyball: Morgan Hentz, Notre Dame Academy First-Team All-State Katie Kendrick, Allen Central High School Alli Gregory, Assumption High School Shelby Olsen, Assumption High School Kara Schacklette, Assumption High School Caroline Rassenfoss, Christian Academy of Louisville Leah Edmond, Dunbar High School Hallie Shelton, Henry Clay High School Morgan Elmore, Mercy Academy Casey Foote, North Oldham High School Morgan Hentz, Notre Dame Academy Hannah Talkers, Notre Dame Academy Natalie Jones, Owensboro Catholic Jalen Story, Presentation Academy Paige Hammons, Sacred Heart Academy Anna Zwiebel, Sacred Heart Academy Jessica Tapp, Scott High School Doris Carter, Tates Creek High School Second-Team All-State Jannah Halbert, Allen Central High School Jordan Coomes, Apollo High School Allison Powers, Central Hardin High School Shelby Buschkoetter, Daviess County High School Jaylen McEwen, Daviess County High School Emma Yarber, Henry Clay High School Chloe Owen, LaRue County High School Cate Hyde, McCracken County Kelly O’Neil, Mercy Academy Sarah Snyder, North Oldham High School Madison Salkowski, Notre Dame Academy Lauren Brown, Owensboro Catholic Megan Taylor, Paintsville High School Hailey Bush, Ryle High School Lauryn Bennett, Sacred Heart Academy Megan Crush, Sacred Heart Academy Honorable Mention All-State Margaret O’Bryan, Apollo High School Emily Kidd, Betsy Lane High School Kaity Smith, Cooper High School Katie Shunk, Dunbar High School Hannah Bevins, East Ridge High School Saylor Sandlin, Elizabethtown High School Darby Music, Henry Clay High School Bridget Downs, Lafayette High School Morgan Pugh, Leslie County High School Kelsey Miller, Oldham County High School Abbey Meade, Paintsville High School Alexxa Gearheart, Pikeville High School Janelle Tobler, St. Henry High School Lydia Jackson, South Warren High School Callie Young, Southwestern High School Macy Reihing, Tates Creek High School Anyone know what % of coaches actually vote on this? And I think what Region you're in plays a big role too.
  23. Like I was saying . . .I stand by my original comment. When it's 3rd & 2 in that situation, Tom Brady makes that pass. You Andy Dalton are not Tom Brady. You don't need that play. You have a good team around you Andy. Manage the game and don't screw it up.
