  1. Wikipedia used/stated as an accurate source and a basketball analogy... thread can be shut down now.
  2. Solid core of players. Doesn't hurt having an all senior starting line up. The "this is it" mentality. Wend wasn't nearly a threat as he was in Soccerama and Conner plays rather direct. Against a solid defense this will limit their opportunities, but it's working for them now. SK looked to be the better team but can't find the back of the net. Similar game to Boone, but there was no let down in intensity the 2nd half. Soccer God's are not on their side at this point in the season.
  3. 0-0 at half Goals by Parson, Siekman and Wend. Parson - Direct free kick about 20ish out. Siekman - One timer off a corner. Wend - Indirect free kick about 20ish out. Freshman: Conner 5 SK 1 JV: Conner 0 SK 4
  4. All this bickering and comparison... I'm just happy they are able to have a varsity team this year. Last year they had a freshman and JV team. Weren't too bad for a first year team either. You don't see any home games because that was the stipulation to have the program. Not an ideal situation regardless of cause, but I have to applaud everyone involved for getting the program together and making it happen.
  5. Lefler is definitely their best returning player. However, to compete in their district they're going to have to beef up their schedule a bit more. Playing Gallatin, Owen, and Carroll 2-3 times a year won't do it.
  6. Guess I should have added the laughing emoticon to my fact/rumor of the coach's association drawing for teams... I mean, I laughed. You're right though, every year you hear this. Same teams, same rumors... yet Jeremy, Matthew, Nathan, Steve were all here again this year.
  7. Not going down the ref debate, but perception is everything. You as a fan and/or parent might have a slighted opinion where administration/KHSAA has another. Like I said, I hope he gets another year in the event his "head is on the chopping block". Might see that it was bad apples, if there might be a lack of discipline, or... inconsistency of refs.
  8. What's the word on Mike being dismissed? This one shocked me considering the success he's had at that program and always having his team peak at the right moment. Also, here's some factual information in regards to the rumor mill. ALL jobs are open this coming year. The coach's association has agreed to put their team in a hat. Each coach draws a team that they get to coach the following year. Their success will be measured on how their team performs while weighting the returning talent and lost talent. Once in for all it'll end the blog debate on how much is it coaching versus the talent a program has. Sorry OTB, I know there is no room for factual information but I couldn't hold this in any longer.
  9. FACT - Administration has had issues. Dahlian was at the point of almost not coming back this year because of all the disagreements. FACT - Dahlian knows the game very well and had his team firing on all cylinders at the right time. TBD - Will he get another year or not? Tough to say how things will shake out from the meeting with KHSAA and how the past 2 years card tally reflects on the school/program. Personally, I'd like to see him come back next year to see if it was due to a couple bad apples or if it's him lacking control/instilling discipline in the program.
  10. I have to go with Scott losing the most. Treadway and Scheider combined for what... over 60 goals. Losing Evans will show everyone next year how he kept that defense together and why their backs didn't appear to be exposed by teams. Unfortunately, their pipeline isn't exactly pumping between their Freshman and JV teams. CCH and St. Henry have a great pipeline. Having seen both of those JV teams they should bounce right back. Not sure who Ryle loses but I know they had a pretty good JV team as well.
  11. Another note... this game was a lot more enjoyable to watch because both sides of parents weren't completely annoying/weren't constantly complaining. Officiating was alright... missed calls on both sides, but nothing that would have impacted the game. Refs set the tone quick not allowing a lot of contact, but they let a little more go as the game progressed.
  12. I love the fact that NO Louisville or Lexington school is in the final. Nice change for once.
  13. South Oldham was legit. They controlled the majority of the game and had Scott chasing a lot. To the point where the last 10 minutes of the game they were huffing and puffing. Morgan and Haggerty could never keep up with their middle, especially #10 Christian who did work in the center. It wasn't until Christian got into the box that he would be swarmed. Scott only had one legit opportunity in the game in the first half when Schneider beat the defender in the box, shot with his left foot, and barely missed the goal. Sure they had a couple scuffles in the box that could had led to something, but not much. As I mentioned in another post, SO's defense is very well organized, didn't let the boys get loose up top, and defended Treadway well. SO decided to make stupid fouls at the top of the box that led to their demise. Treadway took all 3, burying his third one. Still not sure what happened. Had to have some serious movement on the ball because the keeper went right then had to adjust to go left and not enough of a hand on it. After Treadway shanked his first 2 I was shocked Morgan didn't step in. He can really whip a ball in and the wind would have only aided his shot. To set the record straight on Treadway this, Treadway that... CJ won that game. He came up big! SO had 3-4 LEGIT opportunities that CJ made GREAT saves on. That game could have been 3 or 4 to 1... easy. In the end, SO couldn't capitalize on their opportunities and possession doesn't win games. This was about the same summary for the Dunbar/BG game... Dunbar being the South Oldham of the game. Out possessed, missed opportunities, and overall the better team. Should be an interesting match up. BG's defense is goooooood. Treadway and Schneider are going to have a tough time breaking them down. BG plays a similar style like Scott so might play like a tennis match.
  14. Was pretty shocked to see Dunbar not finish their opportunities. Overall they were the better team, majority of the possession, and more opportunities. I do give BG credit. Their defense is solid in the back! Still surprised the Dunbar keeper dropped the shot that was eventually finished by BG. 2nd goal was with one second left in the game. Dunbar pulled everyone up including the keeper.
  15. SO is good, but don't quite have the offensive presence of a Schneider/Treadway. Defensively they're well organized. Offensively they have some good team speed. They like to spread you out, use every bit of the width then find the seams. What's going to hurt them is what hurt, IMO, Cov Cath and Trinity... too much focus on possession and not a lot of attack. Where as Scott is very direct, keep attacking you until you break down, and beat you on transition.
  16. The Ed Lett award is voted on by the coaches. The boys and girls apply for the Scott Christian scholarship and is reviewed/voted on by the members of that organization.
  17. I'm pretty sure there is a write up in the paper... less confident on the invite to the White House
  18. Good thing the parents aren't doing the voting then because the coaches are focusing on individual talents and how one conducts themselves on the field... they're absolutely being considered.
  19. No argument there, but I would think even with more subjective votes it would weight itself towards a more objective poll. I know that sounds ridiculous. However, when the coaches vote the feelings and opinions are usually based on recent results, strength of schedule, etc... just don't have fancy calculations.
  20. If you all want more objectiveness to the rankings get on your coaches to actually submit their vote. Everyone has the chance each week.
  21. Votes are tallied, in coaches' hands, should be out in a day or so
