  1. I hear ya. I don't see what everyone sees in Williams or Grosser, but that's just me in what I've seen.
  2. I'll help speed this thread along. Yellow Card - Cooper's Flesch, OldBird - Highlands' Matthew, and oldgrappler - Boone's Nathan
  3. Seay (Scott) Leanhart (SK) Paulin (Brossart)
  4. This is a great choice! He's completely turned that team around in terms of attitude changes, hard work, and a sense of team work. Now results aren't in their favor to say he's completely turned the program around, but give him time and some talent... he'll do good things.
  5. One aspect of the high school game I've been very impressed with this year is the quality of keepers. So let the games begin... who's your top 3 keepers (no ranking just list 3) in NKY?
  6. If played at different sites yes. If not, that's an extra field rental (which isn't cheap there) and I can't see the coach's association going for that. Just my opinion though.
  7. Either no JV tournament or get over it. Alright... I do get it. It's tough on the boys, but a lot of them do look forward to it regardless of the number of games. I want to say the finals used to be on Sundays, but something was said or a school board made a stance and no more games on Sunday. I do disagree with the grouping of Regions. The beauty of both the Freshman and JV tournament is that it's a random draw to where anything can happen... adding to the excitement.
  8. Not a bad idea. Logistics definitely a problem. Especially with weekend sports (football) and finding open date ranges for everyone to commit to. Like the thought.
  9. Agreed. That's why reporting should be more specific versus general categories. The State thought there was a big problem over the years (hence the 2 game ban now), but the numbers don't tell the true story if it's a hand ball in the box, two yellows, etc.
  10. One game doesn't make a season. He's a very good keeper. Just saying don't be so surprised.
  11. Being a alum I couldn't miss this game... great rivalry match. Here are the details on the goals. First... the game was well played. Nothing dirty and the ref was quick to set the tone early on in the game. First goal was SK's off a corner kick. Ball was swung in, near side post came off his line and missed it. Went right into CJ's chest and into the goal. Didn't even see it coming. Scott was quick with the over the top balls trying to find Treadway and Schneider. Found Treadway out to the left with SK's defender closing quickly. Foul was committed just outside the box yet landing on the inside (IMO), but Scott was rewarded a PK. Morgan buried it. SK quickly regained composure out possessing Scott for the majority of the first half. The middle was wide open and Treadway/Schneider were not working hard to defend SK's backs as they were outlets in their possession. A lot of quick passes and movement off the ball led to a shot around the 18 by Selimovic... left side netting. SK continued to possess the ball and Scott was quick to counter when they regained possession. Treadway had a couple of early chances on with break aways into the box. Hunter (SK's keeper) did a good job coming out early and cutting off the angles quick. Treadway shot just wide on each occassion. Selimovic had another opportunity in the first half. Beating two defenders on the sideline he was fouled and rewarded a PK. It was not a very well struck by Selimovic and CJ had no problem saving it. Momentum in SK's favor they went into half time with a 2-1 lead, but missing out on the opportunity of a 3-1 lead. Second half was a little different. Scott came out harder. Retained a lot more possession and trying to find the seams versus dumping it over the top. Possession in their favor for most of the half. In doing so they found Treadway again. He was fouled in the box. No doubt it was in the box this time. Treadway stepped up and burried the PK. Third goal was a "did that just happen moment." SK off the start, passes back very lazy, Scott intercepts it. Treadway is on the lose cuts to the right across the 18 and has some space. Pulls the trigger acrossed his body and puts it far side netting. Beautiful shot/finish. Scott up 3-2. Later, Treadway finishes another in the box. Ball was served in, bounced around, SK couldn't clear it, and Treadway roofed it. No chance for the keeper. Scott up 4-2. SK appeared to wake up the last 10-15 minutes, regaining possession and putting Scott under pressure again. Dahlian had pulled out Treadway at this point obviously trying to avoid his second yellow so they didn't have the offensive threat up top with him and Schneider. In the final minute SK is fouled about 20 yards outside the box. On the free kick, wall set up to defend the near post (obviously), Selimovic curls it over the ball and puts it in the net on the near side. Very well struck and a nice finish. Final seconds and SK is putting all the pressure on Scott. Selimovic is on the lose and is fouled almost in the identical spot of Treadway from the first half (yes... IMO outside the box) and awarded another PK. Selimovic wanted redemption. Steps up, stutter step, and hits it over the cross bar. About 20 seconds later the whistle blows. Well played... hard fought match. A tale of two halves and missed PK's. Both keepers played extremely well. Both were challenged multiple times and had their fair share of impressive saves.
  12. Don't be so surprised about a keeper's performance... pick a corner and they can't get to it.
  13. It's spread out through 2 weekends. Max games in one day is 3 on Saturday. 4 total between the 3rd and 4th.
  14. Yes, the outdoor turf fields. Where else would you suggest playing the games where 2 can be played at once? Each year it's around 20 games... you can't play Sundays, and you can only get 4 in on Fridays.
  15. They have about 4-5 good players. After that there is a pretty good drop off in talent. They're better than the past couple of years and have some young talent.
  16. However, if you're talking about Varsity... those are not decided until after the districts are finalized and the hosting team for each region are determined. Districts will start the week of 10/13. Sometime during that week into the weekend the teams will find out who they play and where for regionals.
  17. Are you talking about the JV Regional coming up? If so it starts tonight. Carroll vs Pendleton 7:00, St. Henry vs Cov 7:00, Brossart vs NCC 8:30, and Holy Cross vs Highlands 8:30. Games to resume the following weekend of 10/3-10/4.
  18. I was giving you a hard time, but sounds like it got out of hand so no offense meant by my comments.
  19. Am I to imply that Flesch wasn't engaging in the "banter" back and forth?... he's not exactly quiet. You could say there is some history. Pretty much the whole Cooper coaching staff came from Holy Cross a couple years ago. Sounds like emotions might have gotten to him and the team.
  20. I've seen HC a couple times this year and if this all happened the way you describe it surprises me. I've known Dave (their coach) for a few years and I don't think he is one to condone or encourage this style of play. I would say your supporting evidence is what you heard at the grill. Maybe the boys took it upon themselves knowing there are a couple "mouths" on Cooper's team. Either way, it shouldn't get that far where it becomes dirty.
  21. Haha... now that's funny. It is hard for me to admit such a fact, but I like to confirm people's assumptions and understandings. However, when it does come to admitting OTB is right I have someone else type it up for me. Can't bring myself to do it.
