I wanted to start a new thread. The other thread was tied to a game thread and it had a feeling that we may be picking on those teams.

The original web link showed this year and last years numbers as well as JV, V and boys and girls...........Informational only....not trying to call a team out....may be surprising.

So....Here I quickly went through the NKY teams numbers (pulled out the girls numbers) and here is what they report:

Team Last year / this year (thru 9/27)

Brossart 0 / 1

Boone 3 / 4

Campbell 0 / 0

Connor 3 / 0

Cooper 1 / 1

CovCath 1 (coach) / 1 (not listed on report yet)

Dixie 1 / 1

George Rogers Clark 2 (jv/V) / 5 (not NKY but it stood out)

HHS 0 / 1 JV

NCC 0 / 0

Scott 6 (2 JV) / 4

SK 1 Frosh / 1 Frosh

Villa 1 / 0

WV 0 / 0

If the team isn't listed, then they weren't on the list and don't have any at any level.....or I missed it...

talk amongst yourselves.

The numbers for the most part tell the story. The red card for Highlands was a JV keeper out of the box for handling the ball on an obvious goal scoring opportunity, which to me is a much different type of red than other red cards earned. I spoint that out only to say there could be some other red cards of this type buried in the numbers; however, if you are going to be intellectually honest, you can not look at the numbers for Scott, Boone, and GRC and assert that there isn't a problem within the program.

It would be nice for the followers of those 3 programs to tell us why the issue is so prevelant in their boys programs, what is being done to addresss the issue, and whether the steps are working. All of these questions assume that there is admission that there is a problem and I am not sure they are even to that point.

It is more impressive to me to see that there are programs that have 0, kudos to your coaches

For some of the teams, you gave too much credit... or not enough credit... I guess it depends on what side of the fence you are on with this.

Boone 3/5

Cooper 1(coach)/1

St Henry 0/1

Scott 7(2 JV)/4

I do know that the SH red card was on a play made by the goalie, do not know details but I would classify it like what Oldbird refers to above.

I think it would also be interesting if you could tell which of these were straight reds, I am not smart enough to figure out how they classify them on the KHSAA site.

OTB84, you're killing me with my alma mater.

Two yellows, straight red, red for handball in goal (like CCHs), red card to a coach, ....these are what I struggle with.

Not all are created equal. Numbers don't always tell the story......

Glad to hear you say that......took a little begging to the Guru to pull it out from the "Lacross/Volleybaall/Needle Point/Under water basket weaving" category.

Not positive, but I believe three of the red cards that George Rogers Clark has were given to their goalkeeper. I'd love to hear the explanation of how a goal keeper gets ejected from three different games. Assuming that rumor is true.

GRC goalkeeper has received 2 red cards....first was for a tactical foul second red card was a double yellow that happened during a pk....GK was doing his normal pre-shot routine and ref carded him for delay of game....then when GK tried to explain what he was doing and why he was issued the second yellow for dissent.

Top-Ranked Men’s Soccer suffers 3-1 loss to 11th-ranked Rio Grande on Saturday night in NAIA Game of the Week

The physical game saw 36 total fouls, 18 to each team, along with nine total yellow cards

Came across this the other day couldn't help but wonder if this game had been played out with our HS refs just how many red cards would have flown.....

Out of the 10 red cards the Eagles have received over the past 2 years, were any legit or were they all because of the refs? :D

BTW...the count is 9 Varsity red cards over the past two years with no offenders from last year receiving this year....wish you guys could count as well as you can point fingers.
