My apologies.......I only listed 8 varsity red cards in my original list......thank you for pointing out my mistake. 9 it is.........

Sure, but what does a "legit red card" mean? In the past 2 years I have only seen 2 red cards issued to Scott that I felt were an embarrassment but to me they were an embarrassment to those boys not our program. Both were issued to kids that let anger get the best of them and I have seen that happen at several NKY schools over the past two years not just Scott. The Coach, the AD, the kid's parents, can't be on the field with them. The player makes that kind of decision on his own and he has to take responsibility for it.

But how does the player take responsibility for it when the coach,ad,parent doesn't hold them to it?

For the record......I am pretty sure it was only 8 reds for the boys....there was one for the girls in the list.

No problem OLDTIME...I know age is getting the best of you especially since you originally had us at 12 was it?

Check again, maybe put on your reading glasses....and I will repeat, no repeat offenders from last year to this year....so why do you want to insist that no one olds them too it?? I wasn't aware you were invited to the meetings between the players, AD, and Coaching staff.

Sounds like the Scott program is trending in the right direction... 7 red cards in 2013; 4 for 2014 so far; maybe only one or two next year. Why can't you people see the positive in all this?

I was being facetious. 11 red cards over a 2 year span is appalling. Hard to put a positive spin on it.

The season is not over.

What is the take away from no repeat offenders from last year to this year (how about a repeat offender from one week to the next or even better in the case of last year - how about a repeat offender from one game to 2 days later)? Is it less of an issue that the problem isn't concentrated with a couple of players and it is widespread throughout the team? Maybe it is worse and could be harder to address. As far as one holding anyone accountable - certainly we do not know the inner workings of the program, but there is little evidence that anyone is accountable.

Two yellows, straight red, red for handball in goal (like CCHs), red card to a coach, ....these are what I struggle with.

Not all are created equal. Numbers don't always tell the story......

Agreed. That's why reporting should be more specific versus general categories. The State thought there was a big problem over the years (hence the 2 game ban now), but the numbers don't tell the true story if it's a hand ball in the box, two yellows, etc.

Good point, unbiasedcoach. There are many scenarios that contribute to inaccurate totals for yellow and red cards.

However, I do know in the case of Boone, after one game, coach had a very serious talk with the team and said no more red cards. He thought they understood him. Then the Scott game occurred. After that game, Coach gave 5 game suspensions to those players who got red cards for their mouth.

It's made for a tough season. We played through the middle of the season down 6 or 7 players in most matches. Our opponents were the beneficiaries. But Coach Browning made his point. It is not tolerated at Boone.
