  1. Not sure it will be as tough for Hoptown as it will be for Graves. I hope Graves does well this year but it looks like a 5-5 year. As Graves always says every year, they are young this year.
  2. I noticed on KHSAA that the complete schedule is not posted... Can someone post the schedule?
  3. Mayfield don't usually produce D1 type of players. They are usually undersized but have more heart and are better coached than their opponents.
  4. Word is that baseball has lost interest across town; unless you are a basketball player Mayfield sounds to be more promising.
  5. Congrats to Lane, well deserved. Looks like Mayfield made a good hire in Collins.
  6. Probably someone from McCracken will win it, not sure on their stats. A player that should have as good of a chance of winning as anyone would be Tanner Foster from Murray but since he isn't going to play college ball not sure if that will hurt him.
  7. It must be easy to get it waived. Several players in the 1st and 2nd region seem to just switch schools at will. A kid that plays in the 2nd region is playing on his 3 high school this year since being in high school.
  8. Chris Vogt has blocked his way into the Kentucky High School Athletic Association record books. The Graves County big man needed four blocked shots in Thursday night's 3rd District Championship game to set a new single season record for blocked shots. He ended the night with 11. He also scored 21 points as Graves County beat Mayfield 76-50. Vogt, a 6'11” junior, now holds the state record for most blocked shots in a season with 181. Garrard County's Michael Taylor had held the state record since 2000, when he blocked 173 shots. “It means a lot because it's a great reward for all the hard work I've put in,” Vogt said. “I've left my mark on Kentucky high school basketball.” Vogt could add to his total. His Graves County Eagles will play at least one more game this season when they open play at next week's 1st Region Tournament in Murray. Vogt also holds the state record for most blocked shots in a single game. He blocked 17 shots in a game earlier this year against Webster County. He shares the record with former Paducah Tilghman star Isaac McClure, who ironically blocked 17 shots against Graves County in 2008. West Kentucky Star - Sports
  9. Mathis from Graves is really starting to put together and have the kind of year I thought he would. Should be getting top 10 player in region consideration.
  10. So let's see if the 1st Region officials can make this happen, assuming both teams makes it to the Region tournament. Graves should be the favorite in the 3rd district and Hickman could be runner-up in the 1st district, would make an interesting 1st round match-up.
  11. It's not like this is the first time or first school ever to do something like this... Just Hickman fought it enough to get something done about it. What happens if Graves and Hickman get paired up in the region tournament?? Will Hickman play them?
  12. I knew something wasn't right at Graves this year. Several things going on over there.
  13. Some teams are looking good like Paducah, Murray, and McCracken. Carlisle has they players back and are getting better. Graves seems to be falling apart, I heard over the break they have had 3 players either leave or let go during Christmas break. Not sure all the details but something isn't right over there.
  14. Ok Jeff after watching Graves play Saturday, I was wrong. Graves doesn't have what I thought they did. I thought from what they had returning from last year they would be better this year. I watched them scrimmage Henderson Saturday and they had a hard time with Henderson, picked 6th in 2nd region. Vogt was the only player that could score and they didn't protect the ball. Graves did win 4-5 quarters but didn't look good in doing it.
  15. You are right there, hard to live up to the expectations after that.
  16. How does Carlisle have 2 in the top 10 and get ranked behind Graves? Don't get me wrong, I think Graves is better but also think Graves should of had at least 2 in the top 10. But it isn't where you start, it's where you finish.
  17. Like most years at Mayfield. It amazes me how they have so many athletes play football but cant find enough to have a good basketball team.
  18. This is Region 1, as a whole I think the region will be down this year.
  19. Breese, Pope-McCracken, Kennemore-Mayfield, Gough-Graves, Foster-Murray, Wildharbor-Ballard, Weatherspoon-Carlisle That would be a good start, I'm sure I'm leaving plenty off this list. Fill in the blanks
  20. They are returning 3 starters, Vogt, Grant, and Gough, from last year's team and several other players that got playing time. Grant is the PG and can make things happen. Gough played PF and is 6'5"-6'6" and is a strong kid. They have a lot to choose from to replace the 2 starters they lost. They should be as good as anyone on the blocks but not sure that the guard play and compete with Murray or Tilghman.
