  1. Holding penalty helps kill drive RVK takes over at own 7
  2. FS has the potential to be explosive on offense by passing the ball. They just don't do that unless they absolutely have to. My fear is that they will get into a playoff game and struggle at rushing for a while and fall behind (like they did against South Warren) and will not be able to make up the ground they lose. I would rather see them come out throwing against a good team and try to catch them by surprise. I love a good rushing attack if it is working. The game against Warren East is a good example of that. FS really didn't need to pass because its line was controlling the game. They do a lot of their passing on 3rd and 4th downs when the defense knows it is coming. A little more passing on earlier downs could be even more effective.
  3. Does anyone know why the KHSAA decided not to allow district games in the final week?
  4. 7-Owensboro Catholic 5-Elizabethtown 3-Christian Co. 2-Casey Co. 1-Jackson Co. TB-Owensboro Catholic
  5. Warren East has some athletes. Surprised they've only won 3 games. Line play for FS made the difference. Any news about Cade Harvey? I know he walked off the field but I haven't heard any update. Nice new field and facilities at East. Lot of money spent up there. Is Greenwood next in line for a makeover?
  6. I think FS wins but it will be close early. FS pulls away in the 2nd half 42-26.
  7. On Saturday morning, will we be saying that FS "blue" out Warren East?
  8. I almost said title wins but wasn't sure how many they had won beside the last 3. How many title games has Belfry been to?
  9. Belfry's rushing and passing yards in all their state championship games?
  10. I think ACS will beat Calloway and come back to Franklin for round 2.
  11. Litten played WR and DB. I assume he can run and hit but maybe the throwing motion is not there yet. ACS got to its 3rd string QB but he led a TD drive late in the game. Gutsy performance for the Patriots.
  12. Belfry's rushing and passing yards in the playoffs last year?
  13. Had Bear Stanley not gotten hurt, the 75 team would probably have been undefeated state champs and tops on the list. Excited to see where this 2016 squad winds up on the list. If they don't get upset early in the playoffs they may rank very high. Is 75 the only FS team with an undefeated regular season?
  14. Only top 10 game that might be close would be Shelby vs Spencer.
  15. Tennessee has not only a Mr. Football for each class, but also has a separate award for backs and linemen in each class, for a total of 16 Mr. Footballs in 8 classes.
  16. I think Coach Preston has gotten the most out of all his teams at FS. The 2014 team is the only one that maybe could have made it farther in the playoffs. They lost to Madisonville in the 2nd round, mostly because of costly turnovers in the second half. There was absolutely no shame in losing to that Madisonville team, as they went on to barely lose to Owensboro in the region finals, then Owensboro went on to hold a 21 point lead over Highlands in the state finals, only to lose a close one in the end. Every other team Preston has had at FS went as far or even farther than I thought they could, considering their talent level and the level of the competition. At times last year and this year I have wished they would throw the ball a little more, but that is a very small complaint compared to the major problems some other programs in our area have. I think overall Coach Preston is doing an excellent job and I am looking forward to the rest of the year. Just here I would like to mention the job our former head coach, Tim Schlosser, is doing as the principal at Franklin-Simpson. When he was the coach here, he had the misfortune of sharing the district with Bowling Green for the first half of his coaching tenure, which kept him from having as much success as he could have, (Though they did beat BG twice in 1999) and then after the 6-class system began, he had to share the district with the best teams in the history of Allen County-Scottsville. Finally, in his last year, he went out with a bang with one of the best teams in FS history, finally falling to mighty Highlands in the title game. Now that he is the principal, the school's test scores have improved greatly, and the buzz around the school is generally very positive. What does that have to do with the football team now? Many people are aware that CJ Hayes of South Warren could have played at Franklin-Simpson. People who know him and his family said that his decision(which since he is a senior, was made a few years ago) to go to South Warren had a lot to do with academics instead of athletics. The improvements in the academics at FS will hopefully keep other student-athletes like him at home, thus helping all the sports teams. The future seems bright in Franklin, both for this season and years to come.
