You didn't even cut and past a specific section. you cut and pasted paragraphs from different parts of the article. It doesn't read like a complete article. My guess is they gave Beechwood some credit for hanging in there and having a tied game at that point. Fact is, in spite of yards and time of possesion difference the game was tied. The tigers somehow managed to keep Mayfield out of the endzone. Can't really say the score was 14-0 if the penalty broke the play open. The momentum was in Beechwoods favor at the time. The fumbled punt changed that!

That doesn't disprove that fact that the game was tied 7-7 late in the 4th quarter. The yardage difference and time of possession difference were mostly in the first half. Mayfield wasn't moving the ball at all late in the 3rd and into the 4th quarter. The fumbled punt was the first time you had the ball across midfield in the 4th quarter. He wasn't hit, he just didn't catch the punt. Mayfields first touchdown was a 1 play 60yd pass. not like the moved the ball down the field on them. Wouldn't expect you to agree. Explain how it wasn't as close as a 14-7 score. The score is the score. Its not like Mayfield was up 14-0 and tigers scored in last minute. It was tied 7-7 until late in the game when Mayfield scored on the short drive. I realize you always have your spin but you have to explain yourself on this one.

2002 game was also a good one. Didn't Beechwood fumble a punt near midfield trying to get the extra yard and Mayfield drove the short field for the wining score.

That 95 game was a great game to watch. To bad all championship games aren't like that. Not only 5th, but possibly 8 in a row.

While the Cardinals certainly have Beechwood in the head to head battles and ruled the last 5 years, Some fans act as if Mayfield has owned 1A since coming down. If I tallied things up correctly, the two teams are even in Championship game appearances and state titles. Both teams had to compete against a formidable opponent nearly every season. The Tigers had Newcath and Mayfield had Danville. I have both teams with 6 state titles and 4 runners up. Interesting that this year will break the tie.

Are you sure about that? I posted the alignment below. Assuming KHSAA does the same playoff set up as past 4 years. District 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6, 7vs8 would face each other in first rounds playoffs. Okay, I found the 2012 game poll. It shows Mayfield with the advantage you if you look at the names you don't see a lot of the NKY people voted.
