For Ludlow, TC Eades and Evan Slone pitched. Holy Cross used three pitchers, all very good (not sure of their names).

It was a good back and forth game. Errors were costly for the Panthers in the 8th inning. HC can hit the ball well.

No. I think they will have trouble getting out of the 9th region (which should be a fantastic tournament this year!)

I've seen those guards three times when they played up on the 8th grade team. Nice for 7th grade guards, struggled against Ludlow's 8th grade team, I don't think RA was within 20 pts any game. But definitely good 7th grade players. Abby Mahan for Ludlow was probably one of the best guards in the small school 8th grade division. She had a great season. Definitely expecting big things from her these next few years.

RA Jones won the small school 7th grade. Ludlow beat Dayton to win 8th grade for the repeat.

Dayton had a convincing 10pt+ win over Bracken. Like Ludlow they only had 5 players dress. Bracken lost their best player to what looked like a knee injury early in the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, their point guard picked up her second foul. While complaining about the 2nd foul call, she quickly picked up her third on a technical. That lead to the Bracken coach picking up two technical fouls and having to leave the game. Bracken never uprighted the ship after that. Dayton had one player in foul trouble. They played almost the whole 4th qtr with 4 girls. Ludlow and Dayton will play for the 8th grade small school championship Saturday. It should be a good game!

I'm not sure they have the numbers to move up and be competitive. This years senior class is somewhat of an anomaly. I think there are around 75 seniors total, a very big class for Ludlow. I have an 8th grader and I believe that class has around 50 students total. I think with those numbers moving to D2 may be difficult.

Boone Co was unable to play tonight due to no school today. Class act by the Panthers!

FWIW, the coach from RA Jones 8th grade team was ejected on a double technical versus Ludlow on Saturday. There was no assistant coach. A parent from the stands coached the RA girls for the final quarter.

Ludlow won 65-28.

Ludlow is currently up 39-12 at the half.

There is an 8th grade "B" team from Campbell Co playing in the small school division.

Ludlow 8th grade remains undefeated with wins over Dayton and RA Jones. They are doing this without one of their best players from the last two seasons, Adriana Lovell is only playing with the JV and Varsity teams. Other girls on this team are getting great experience and having to "step up" to fill her shoes. It is a benefit for all involved.

In the video posted from the recent game against Ludlow, students from Cov Cath absolutely leave their seats to gather near the student inbounding. We also enjoyed The Wild Egg for breakfast/brunch. It was very good!

Two places that I found this summer.....Montana Grill on Scottsville Road is a pretty good steak house. Teavana is "downtown" and had excellent gumbo.

Ludlow 8th grade girls beat Bellevue (Erlanger Scrimmages), Tichenor, Campbell County (assume B-team since they are in the small school division) and Sharp. All margins have been greater than 15 points and probably pushing at least a 20 point margin in all games so far. As 7th graders this team went undefeated, but their best guard is only playing varsity this year. It has been great to see other girls step up.

I think you may be jumping the gun a little bit. This is just the early signing period. I expect Transy, UC Clermont and other D3/NAIA schools to sign more 2016s as their senior season progresses. Also Geoffrey Thornburg from Ludlow was a 2014 who committed to Pikeville.

Some players will choose JUCO because it allows them to become eligible for the MLB draft well before NCAA does. As mentioned above, some kids need the extra time to mature. Some kids also need the time to get their grades in order if they did not do so in high school. Many reasons JUCO may be chosen, these young men need to find the school that is the right fit socially, athletically and academically.

14-13 Ludlow after 3

There is a new coaching staff in place and more girls in the program than previous years. Ludlow had a very good middle school season last year with their 7th and 8th grade programs and these girls are now moving up into the high school program. I know there are some older high school girls playing this year who haven't played in the past few years. Because of this, they are able to field 6th, 7th, 8th, freshman, JV and Varsity programs. It's great to see these kind of numbers associated with the girls program. Onward and upward!

Off the top of my head, there are three seniors at Ludlow who have played 3 sports their entire high school career: Matthew Gibson, Michael Camerena and Nathan Wyrick. All three play football, basketball and baseball.
