63 year Championship drought in basketball is hard to believe with how they churn out championships in all other sports (football, golf, swimming, etc.). Next game will not be a walkover, as a Sweet Sixteen game sometimes can be.

Great season by CovCath, but X was just awesome after getting boatraced that 1st qtr. Going to take a hot team that can play above the rim with them to keep St. X from winning their 1st championship in forever(?). Loss of Harney certainly hurt, but X deserved this win.

That number is from the school system. Rumor always was the community support dwarfed that as is in many successful programs.

Just doing what great teammates/players do! Tip-off getting closer. Is it too early to fire up the popcorn popper?

Rumors always whispered that MoCo was the highest paying coaches job in the state and those supporters had nothing less than the highest expectations. Sounds like a balanced transaction if true.

LexHerald yesterday referenced St. X’s Jeremiah Johnson was one of the top four seniors in Ky this year and that guard Joshua Lindsey was the #1 sophomore in Ky. Pretty talented load for CovCath. This should truly be a don’t miss matchup.

Or we all dashed out to join our wives already seated at Capronis for a quick bite and libation and then dashed back for the evening game. Historically just great memories.

Luke Asher is a solid senior and at 14.9 pts/5 rebs that will be greatly missed. What happened? Knee? Ankle????

You are probably right as CovCath is certainly a prohibitive favorite. Just never liked to see bragging about the results before the game is played. Some opponent just might throw that no-hitter.

Guess I wonder about this topic being the so called kiss of death. Always believed you didn’t talk about a no-hitter until 3rd out in the ninth was recorded, and hated when announcers would talk about a free throw shooters streak right before he steps to the line late in the game. Never liked players or coaches giving their opponents fodder for upcoming game motivation. Just wondering if this thread could be inadvertently providing fodder.

Certainly, my opinion means little as I am following remotely via BGP, internet, NFHS, Hudl, news outlets, etc. But, if you were to take Feldhaus, Spurlock, or McGillis off their respective teams what would you have left competitively? I think CovCath would still find a way out of the 9th. Ashland (?), don’t know enough about the 16th. But, take Feldhaus off Madison Central and MC doesn’t get a short trip up I-75, in fact they probably have 10 losses on the season. Feldhaus just disproportionally impacts his team. Hate to see this legacy heading to Belmont.

Can anyone detail Mason’s clawing out of this deep hole. Facebook post said it was down 7 with :15 to go. Maybe that post was wrong? Oops, wife corrected what she had told me…it was :38 left. Still a deep hole.

Amari Owen’s from Bryan Station at 25.6 pts per game and the new all-time scoring leader in Lexington High School basketball is a prime example. Can’t be 16 seniors that are superior players in Ky.

Just my opinion, but I do not like Mr. Basketball voting restricted to these regional winners only.

The Athletic reported that the body of Rondale Moore’s was found this morning from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. Rondale was truly a great Trinity alumnae, Purdue All-American and former Arizona Cardinals and current Minnesota Viking. His career had been marred by major knee injuries with one lengthy rehab followed by another. So sad that we often miss what others are mentally suffering. May peace and prayers lift up Rondale and his family.

Highlands by 15.

Cannot argue, but on any given night there might be a team that pulls off the unexpected. Still thinking Highlands can bang, finesse, play D and execute. Granted it will take a special night and having already lost once, the taste of defeat might be enough to pull it off. CC is such a prohibitive favorite Coach Thelen might have his biggest battle against expectations.

Wintering 1,000 miles away doesn’t give me much chance to really know first hand how dominant this CovCath team is. I did see Jake play every game at Bellarmine for 4 years so knew his teams would be physical, precise in execution, fundamentally very sound and physical. When they added Braeden Myrick from Mason Co. I thought a Sweet 16 deep run was very possible. That last scheduled game against Madison Central and Jake Feldhaus could be a telling classic. My suspicion 4 Quarters is thinking much like others with this thread. Is there a team close enough to CovCath that on “that given night” could pull a 9th Region upset? Lot of basketball yet to be played, lot of chances for untimely injury, lot of minutes for someone to absolutely go off. For me relying on BGP as my primary source, and secondarily NKy Tribune, and The Link it looks to me like Highlands. They can bang in the middle, they can shoot, play D and Listerman teams are always well coached. But, it will have to be “that given night” where everything falls into place. Head-to-head, CovCath wins 9 of 10.

Agree, or perhaps disqualification from post season play? Or, on second thought, at a minimum the Coach is disqualified for those equivalents. Don’t like punishing players for totally unacceptable action by the coach.

This is two games in a row that the Bracken Co. head coach received a T at a most critical end of game time. At Augusta with 0.7 seconds left the T on a last second shot attempt gave Augusta 4 FTs to win. Now against Bath we have a coach T who then takes his team off the floor to end the game. Am I missing a little common thread here needing to be addressed by AD, Principal, and/or Supt?
