  1. Like I said previously, I saw none of the game. I think the only way that Dunbar gets to Rupp is to have Lewis and someone else step up. It's hard to rely on 2 kids to each get 20-30 a night.
  2. Got a text that said "Dunbar was killing until Darius decided Tay had enough shots." I wasn't there and have no idea. Any validity to the statement? I saw no updates or anything due to work.
  3. Can confirm that Hollingsworth from Dunbar took an unofficial visit to Xavier last week for the game against Cincy.
  4. If getting to state tournament is a criteria then Faulkner is disqualified already. No way Caverna gets through Taylor and all the Hardin schools in February.
  5. There is a difference between a Nike sponsorship and a "Nike Friendly" deal. A Nike friendly deal gets you discounted gear and usually an allotment of funds to use towards that gear. So you may get 50% off Nike gear and get $10,000 to spend on that gear. A Nike sponsorship that gets you EYBL membership is more like free gear (up to a certain dollar amount) and a travel budget for hotels, airfare, etc. While the girls side of Premier is on the girls EYBL circuit and gets the money, gear, etc., their boys programs would be the recipients of a Nike friendly deal. You will not see them on the Boys EYBL circuit.
  6. Team of the Week: Madison Southern – It’s hard to pick a team of the week when almost everyone only played one game since the rankings were last posted. So I went with Madison Southern. They are on a 4 game win streak including a surprising win over Cordia. I’ve seen it said that Coach Rhodes wasn’t at the game due to the birth of a child. Regardless, Madison Southern beat a team full of kids with D1 offers, so they are the team of the week. Player of the Week: Darius Williams, Dunbar – Had 49 points combined in wins over Fairdale and LCA. Darius can score from about anywhere. Once his 3 point percentage goes up and he starts shooting free throws at his usual rate, his PPG will continue to rise. Team Rankings (Last week’s ranking in parentheses) 1. Dunbar (1) – Only played Fairdale in the opening game of the KOB since the last rankings and handled them with ease. We’ll know much more about Dunbar over the next 3 days at the King of the Bluegrass. 2. Henry Clay (2) – Throttled Western Hills Friday night. Should be the heavy favorites to win the Berea Invitational this week. 3. Scott County (3) – Trounced Scott on Friday night at home. Someone forgot to tell these Cardinals that young teams are supposed to struggle early in the year. They lead the region in wins and are the likely favorites to win the Woodford Invitational. 4. Lafayette (4) – Beat Brunswick, Ohio by a point before losing in the LeBron James Classic. According to the schedule, these Generals are off this week. 5. Bryan Station (5) – They have been off for 10 days so they should be well rested for their game against Louisville Eastern to open the Woodford County Invitational. DeAndre Dishman cannot get back soon enough. 6. Lexington Catholic (6) – Crushed DeSales before losing to Manual by 4 and Male by 12. Hard to put them at 6 as they sit with a 3-5 record but they have played a good schedule. Need to see some results in their Holiday Classic or the Knights will see a precipitous drop in the rankings. I think now is the time to buy stock in Lex Cath basketball. 7. Lexington Christian (4) – A 9 point loss at Danville and a 3 point win over Fleming County to complete the week. These Eagles still lack a signature win over a good team. The schedule says they are off for 2 weeks. Hopefully not. 8. Madison Southern (NR) – Winners of 4 in a row, they have a little momentum heading into this week’s Berea Invitational. 9. Frankfort (9) – 2 close losses last week but no one behind them in the rankings is making a great case to jump them (other than Madison Southern). So the Panthers sit at #9 again this week. They are also at the Berea Invitational this week. 10. Madison Central (8) – Losers of 2 in a row to close the week, the Indians are just barely hanging on to the last spot in the top 10. They are off until the 27th, when they face a formidable team from Paris.
  7. I think Sharpe is special. You don't just plug in someone else in that spot and get the same production. Again, this is merely my opinion.
  8. I would argue that if you take Tyler Sharpe off Bullitt East, they're middle of the pack in the 6th region.
  9. Please enlighten us. lots of rumors out there. Can you provide some facts?
  10. Really impressed by Creek last night. Their guards are all scrappy. They fight.
  11. Tre Hill is not the #1 player in the 2018 class. Ahmad Price, Andrew Taylor, Trevon Faulkner, Steven Fitzgerald, Justin Mitchell, Mickey Pearson, Jalen Johnson, Shorty Cager and JJ Reed are all better (strictly my opinion) and after last night I would move Anthony Wales ahead of him as well. Tre just hasn't developed like those other kids have. I was really impressed with Wales last night.
  12. You can follow me on twitter @RealCoachQ for updates tonight. Not sure about tomorrow.
  13. When does Henderson get their suspended players back?
  14. Apologies for the tardiness. Work has gotten in the way of my basketball addiction. Adulthood is the worst. Team of the Week: Scott County – The young Cardinals won 3 games in 3 days by knocking off LCA by 20, Corbin by 9 and Lex Cath by 11. Billy Hicks has his team playing well already and sit at 7-1 heading into the Christmas break. Player of the Week: Michael Moreno, Scott County – The big reason they went 3-0 last week. Michael went for 28 points and 13 rebounds against LCA, 19 and 8 against Corbin and 18 and 15 against Lexington Catholic. He also celebrated his 15th birthday on Monday. Looking forward to following this young man's career for the next 4 seasons. Team Rankings (Last week’s ranking in parentheses) 1. Dunbar (1) – A 16 point win over Lafayette, a 1 point road victory over Lexington Catholic and a 15 point win at LCA keep the Bulldogs at #1 for a second straight week. Taveion Hollingsworth, Darius Williams and Jordan Lewis are all averaging double figures after 6 games. 2. Henry Clay (2) – The Blue Devils had quality wins over Bryan Station and Louisville Eastern last week before a 3 point loss to Owen County. Barring a Dunbar loss or two, they’re likely plugged into our #2 spot for the next few weeks. 3. Scott County (7) – Our team of the week sits at 7-1 heading into the Christmas tournament season. Bryce Long, Cooper Watts, Cooper Robb and Michael Moreno all average double figures for our biggest riser of the week. 4. Lafayette (3) – Losing to Dunbar by 16 is their lone blemish on the young season but they lack an impressive win for the year. And before you say Wayne County is an impressive win, Wayne was without their best player. Ross Jenkins leads the Generals with averages of 16.7 points and 8 boards. 5. Bryan Station (5) – A 15 point loss started last week before they beat Tates Creek by 7 without Dishman (out until January) and Andre Davis (football all star game). If they ever get it together, they can challenge for a region title but right now they are struggling, as evidenced by dropping out of the King of the Bluegrass showcase game this weekend. 6. Lexington Catholic (6) – Losers of 3 straight and sitting at 2-3 overall, the Knights have lost to all 3 quality teams they have faced. Having said that, they should have beaten Dunbar and the Scott County loss was a classic “big game hangover” from the night before against Dunbar. 7. Lexington Christian (4) – Another team who has a handful of wins but none over a good team. You’re probably saying “Campbell County is good”. I would argue that the Camels aren’t very good. They’re sitting at 3-4 with no quality wins. The Eagles also got dominated for 32 minutes by Scott County. Therefore, they drop in the rankings. 8. Madison Central (9) – Winners of 3 in a row, the Indians suddenly sit at 5-3 and in the drivers seat in the 44th district for the 21st year in a row. 9. Frankfort (8) – Beat Western Hills by 17 before getting rolled by Montgomery County and dropping a district game to Franklin county on a buzzer beater. Anthony Robinson is currently averaging 19 points and 14.5 rebounds for the Panthers. Definitely worthy of All-Region consideration at this point. 10. Woodford County (NR) – The Yellow Jackets have won 3 out of 4 including 2 district wins. They are off until they host the Woodford County Invitational starting next Monday.
  15. What are you hearing about where Tre Hill will land?
  16. East is terrible. Burgin may beat them this year.
  17. The Tennessee Travelers were an original EYBL team. They just moved to Ky 3 years ago. They will likely play a schedule similar to non shoe teams. Try and play biggest non shoe events. At this time there are 2 Adidas teams in Ky and that's it as far as shoe circuit teams go. So if a kid wants to play on the circuit it's Adidas or leave the state.
  18. I was told they are no longer on EYBL. They and 3 other programs were replaced with new teams. They will continue to recieve Nike gear, etc but no longer part of the league.
  19. For as much heat as Gatewood takes on here, I'm surprised no one commended him for actually disciplining his 2 best players and holding them accountable.
  20. May want to get that high top face checked out. Doesn't sound healthy haha
  21. He used to. He's young enough to play down a level. This past AAU season is the first time that he's played on grade level.
