So many smaller schools are mentally beat when they play the larger class schools. This will not be the case for DeSales. That d will keep them in the game.

I'm thinking a close game. Butler won't roll over for us. Those kids over there would love to beat DeSales. Of course I hope I'm wrong.

DeSales schedule is much tougher than Mayfield's. Who do you guys play besides Graves, and Corbin? No one on your schedule is better than Ballard, not many maybe 1 would be better than Fern Creek this year. Throw in CAL, and our schedule is much tougher than yours. So you want to talk about being tested.

Yeah. Come november, DeSales will be bringing that nasy defense down there. When our boys will be coming off the buses, your kids will be wondering how many of them are there. Then our young men will physically impose their will on you. Shoving you around on the field. They will knock you down, then knock you down again, then take your lunch money. Then welcome you to 2A. See ya next year in Louisville. Kinda like what we did to Murray 2 years ago. lol. Im just kidding Mayfield fans. All in good fun.

Ohh Geez here we go.... No one was downgrading Mayfield. You guys are waaay to sensitive. Of all the replies, still no one answered my questions. All you could do is tell us the greatness of Mayfield. For the one poster that in his opinion thinks Mayfield was better than DeSales last year, I think the opposite. I can judge them on the day that i saw them both, in BG. They looked like 2 totally different teams. I don't think Mayfield could have scored on that defense last year. Im pretty confident, and many others on here have commented DeSales would have won that game. (Doesn't matter though) You guys do have more 2A titles than we do. You played on 2A much longer than we have. we were stuck playing the 4A Louisville schools. You guys would have had 0 titles in that same span. No matter how great you have been, you would never have competed with the T's, and the X's in 4A Jefferson County. You guys love to bring Murray up, but that's kinda my point, that none of you answered. We just came off a physically brutal game with CAL, the week before. Our CAL games are epic. They are our rival. We played very flat against Murray. We were fortunate to win. But my point is that it can be a grind, with so many good teams on our side of the bracket. You guys haven't had that in 1A. You've had beechwood. You'll get one easy playoff game in 2A, your first one. Then the grind starts. What happens if your not healthy? Again not answered. We have the numbers, and I do believe that has helped us in the playoffs. How many teams in 1A played a more physical game than Mayfield? DeSales, and CAL both will physically try and wear you down. How will your guys react? None of those players you have now, were on any of those 2a chamionship teams. All they know is where you have been the last 3 years. 1A, which i'm sorry, but in my opinion, it's been pretty weak. It's been Mayfield, and a bunch of others. That's not the case anymore. I hope you guys make it through healthy, same for us. i want both teams to be full strength, if we meet. I'll shake your hand before, and after the game. this hopefully will just be the first of many meaningful games between our schools.

I will say this. You could choose either one, and make a good case. The Colts are the defending champs. I've said all off season I was cautiously optimistic. Mayfield regardless how good they have been, still has to prove themselves in this class. I know they have played up in classes, but honestly the teams in the far west just aren't that impressive. My gauge will be when they play Corbin. I think that would be a great game that I would love to see. I like what I saw from the Colts Friday night. They looked like a championship team. Very business like. They are big, and that defense is dominate again. The other thing I liked is that they have the numbers, not just the number of bodies, but of contributors. They will wear most 2a schools down. What happens if Mayfield, late in the year loses someone. How is their depth? It's an honest question, that I don't know. How will they navigate through the playoffs, having to play A OC, and a Murray again, then following that up with a DeSales, or CAL squad. I know what DeSales brings to the table. They have been doubted by the last 2 years, but when the playoffs come, those numbers really help in our favor. Again. I'm cautiously optimistic about this team. lol

DeSales scored on every possession in the first half, and the opening possession of the second. At that point the reserves came in. The team looked very sharp. That defense was great and will keep getting better.

They did lose quite a bit. But so did DeSales.

You want real talk? Ok. Lets do it. All team jabbing aside. Mayfield is, and should be the favorite. They have more pieces back on their championship team, than we do. I like our team. If last years role players can develop for us, then things could get interesting. I still think with what we have coming back on the defensive side of the ball can keep us in most games. The semis will more than likely go through Mayfield. That will also be a big challenge. I like DeSales as the #2 team in the class. I have seen CAL many times. They have a great coaching staff, I like them at #3 . I have always given NCC their props. However, when I saw them in BG last year, that was a total mismatch. Unless a lot of things have changed, they just don't match up with the top 3 coming out of the west. I like Somerset this year I think they can push NCC this year. I do expect NCC to be in BG. But it's not far fetched that they would be the underdog in the title game. Not a knock on them. I saw the Colts first hand last Friday night. They looked solid. They are big, and athletic looking. I expect Johnson to have a monster year. Does he have enough weapons on the offensive side to make a run? We'll have to wait and see. We'll know more this Friday when we scrimmage Meade County. Lastly, no one is forcing you to read this board. Don't get your feelings hurt from someone else's opinion. There is no crying in football.

After seeing the Brown/White game last night, I remain cautiously optimistic. The team definitely passes the look test. They look like a 2 time defending champ.

We just hope, we have the horses to get there. One game at a time.

If Mayfield makes it that far, then you are correct. It will run through Mayfield this year.

That very well could be true. However let's remember DeSales technically plays all their games on the road. We are used to traveling. Our new field won't be ready until next year.

2 years ago doesn't matter. Last year doesn't matter. We all have our opinions. What does matter is this year. We lost over 20+ kids this year. However we lost the same the year before. The atmosphere at DeSales has changed so much over the past several years. We really do teach Faith, Brotherhood, and Tradition. I don't know how the season is going to play out. What I do know is that we will again have a very nasty defense. The offense has playmakers. The numbers are there. We'll dress over 85. I've said it before about this team. I'm cautiously optimistic. We'll know more about this team after the Butler, and Ballard games.

DeSales vs CAL

Our 2013 team, was better than last years team. Last year we struggled on offense at times. That can happen when you are starting a new qb. This year with Johnson back, i look for him to have a really good year. He's already committed to Louisville, so he won't have that pressure on his shoulders. Defense once again should be stout. And as always numbers will be a factor. We'll be somewhere between 85-90 players.

Why would he be mad? We controlled the game. We won the game. That was 2013, no bearing on what happens this year. I like this Colts team, i'm optimistic but cautious. I was the same exact way last year. We have plenty of talent on the field. Our Freshman, and JV programs have been tremendous over the last 5 years. Hopefully it will translate onto the field.
