From the looks of it, the JV team was in it the entire game, just couldn't finish. NDA has a good JV team and SK just couldn't do what they needed to do to put them away. There was some horrendous officiating in the JV game and it looked like the SK JV coach got a warning of some sort towards the end. Both teams were pretty evenly matched in my opinion. The 10 point loss came in the last few minutes because of free throws and a couple late baskets. The varsity officiating seemed to be alright. Nothing too glaring until that last call at the end of the game. -

If you read my post, I did not say they were bad. I said I wonder if that was the case. I don't know anything about Scott's insider information, so obviously I am just posing a question. I didn't slam anyone, FYI Dozer. I just posted a question to see what everyone thought. If I would've said "She didn't pass because they all suck around her," then yes, I would have been slamming the other girls. But I did not, nor is that my actual opinion. So try to read through the post first and really understand what was being said. Just to avoid any banter back and forth I know there is talent at Scott and I know Ally Niece is a good player as well. I know there is a ton of room for improvement for everyone involved...Ally is just a freshmen and will continue to improve I'm sure with the move to SK. Scott is led by a coach that has been around the game forever and will only continue to improve her teams. With regards to Niece vs. Owings, I think it comes down to the type of player they are. They are two different gamers and I think to compare them is wrong. Abby was an excellent player and I bet Ally will make her mark on the program as well in the next 4 years. I have seen Ally do things in the last couple of years that Abby could not and in the same regard, Abby do things that Ally cannot.- 136 replies

First bold...I agree that this could have happened. I've seen, and heard it happen before. Second bold...I have also seen this happen before. Who knows, it's all speculation. Like I said, just playing Devil's Advocate. But good for Scott if they end up being a better team.- 136 replies

I wonder if Ally did not need to pass that much, or was told not to pass that much, because there really wasn't anyone else at that caliber on that team?? I'm just saying that I've seen that happen to kids in high school. People don't think a player is a good passer because she scores so much. Then when they get to college, they are good passers because they have options to pass to. Also, just being the Devil's Advocate here, but do you think Scott is "overcompensating" for the loss? They took a big hit, so to cover their frustrations, are making a bigger deal out of their "excitement"? Don't know what is really going on, but thought I'd throw a wrench in the convo to see what everyone thinks.- 136 replies

The player of the year, I believe, is announced at the banquet, which is after the state tournament. I'm not sure which region you are looking for, but I know that is the case for at least the 8th and the 9th.

I agree with you, headedforhome, they weren't very good at all. It stinks that this is what they gave to the championship game. Hopefully they don't get big games in the regional tournament. I think they missed some pretty big calls on both sides. -

You were right paNDA. The game was closer than the prior two meetings this year. Walton-Verona did a great job at the defensive end early. They tried to slow it down when they got the lead early, but an unforced turnover lead to SK getting the ball and the stall ball method was out the window. Both teams played a hard fought game. Congrats to the SK Pioneers for winning the championship and for both teams advancing to the Regional Tournament. -

Congrats to the Lady Pioneers. I figured this game would be closer than the last two meetings, and it was, for three quarters. With some shoddy reffing the 'Neers (as they call themselves) came out victorious. Christina Cook, Sarah Tomlin, and MacKenzie Hester stepped up big to help the team pull it out. Abby's shot was off and she became frustrated it seemed. Rachel Cox got into foul trouble quick, and never mentally bounced back. This team has all the tools it needs to make a long run into the post-season. They need to make sure they play as a team, otherwise the rest of the 8th is nipping at their heels for a chance to knock them off. Congrats and good luck the rest of the season! -

Congrats to the Lady Rebels. Nell has a great team over there, as well Coach Stamm. Stamm and his coaching staff have done a tremendous job with them this year and having them buy-in to what they're trying to do. I applaud both of these coaches and wish them well in districts! -

If will always be the key word. No one can predict the future...any team, on any given night, can come out victorious in a competition. I'm sure SK is pretty confident in their abilities and how they've been coached this year in order to put up a good game against Anderson. Anderson is a strong team with two D1 talents. I venture to say that, in many people's opinions, they will say that this SK team may be the best in the program. But, Stowers did have two state teams a few years back that probably were called the best in the program when they were playing. It's a matter of opinion. Just have to wait and see which AC team and which SK team show up IF they both make it that far. Oops, there's that darn IF word again -

I think everyone is spot on, but it'll be interesting to see, with the championship on the line and all girls back in the starting lineup, what the final score will actually be. I'm looking forward to it. -

What are everyone's thoughts on tonight's matchup in Walton? First time Walton played Simon, Simon beat them handedly (by 21). Second time (because of a snow makeup) was just played last week, at Walton and Simon again handed them a big 24-point loss. In Independence, Hailey Ison was missing from the game, the second matchup in Walton, Alie Mills for WV and Christina Cook and Abby Owings from SK were all missing. Going to be close? Large win again by SK? Let me hear your thoughts everyone! -
